27.5 is my favorite size for big BMX! I'm 5'9" and I feel most 29ers are too big. I love 26" for getting rad, but for longer rides I much prefer 27.5. Cheers!
I appreciate it! 👊I turned 50 last week, so I’m getting there. As Jay Adam’s said, “You didn't quit skateboarding because you got old, you got old because you quit skateboarding.” I think this applies to riding bikes too. Let’s go 🙌🙌🙌🙌
is a 27'5 BIKE of 14-15 kilos of weight still acceptable for getting a fun workout as a middle-aged guy in a pump track? I do not need competition speed at all, just fun and a good balance and feeling.. I like that 27'5 seems useful in daily life, but want to try some pump tracks as well... but mostly getting out an hour or half an hour each morning on a bike that feel more like a BMX! Thanks for a nice review...
I haven’t tried this one on a pump track yet, but I’m sure the answer is yes. I’ve ridden my 26” Hutch at our track and it’s fun. But, the 24” Monza really shines in that situation. If I could only pick one though, I’d go 27.5 if you’ll be doing more riding off the track 👍
Don’t get me wrong tho, I’m not crapping on what you like. I love your channel. Like what you like. I just think brands like kink, Fitbikeco are better deals in 26” bmx cruisers because you know that those bikes are going to be able to work with aftermarket bmx parts pretty easily. It’s just plug and play. Th kink drifter has a 25/9 gear ratio so it’s going to be a legit pump track machine with its small sprocket. And it has mounts for a water bottle cage.
I appreciate and welcome you to share your thoughts. Your points are good. I love S&M and Fit. I built up a custom 20” S&M Dagger with Fit freecoaster wheels. I freaking love that bike and the guys behind the brand, not just Chris too. A solid S&M build, even a big ATF is much more expensive than a Monza… and I have absolutely no problem with that. The Fit is cheaper, but it’s a totally different bike. But just as valid for whoever wants it, too bad they don’t do chrome. The Monza is a solid bike, 100% just as easy to swap out aftermarket parts as any other brand. Really just depends on what floats your boat. But I do love this 27.5” size for long rides. Had a blast on the ride out in Tulsa this past weekend 👍
i just per-ordered a 27.5 and a 24" off him a few hours ago thanks for the discount code!,,you zipping around on that big bike sealed the deal, looks nimble enough for me 😉.....i would prefer maybe slightly longer handle bars because i'll probably put a laid back seat post on my bike when it comes to make bike look even more badass and BMX'y we'll see (comfort comes first on this bike though 😛) and hopefully that seat is nice and cushy soft for those long rides,, and maybe id change the grips to a more comfortable soft AME raised triangle style or ODI Mushrooms etc etc.. buts that a cheap and easy swap out anyone can do once they get the bike...other then that aint much else i would change, bike looks awesome
Oh wow, you’re gonna love them both! Stoked for you 🙌 So far the seat is awesome, I’m going on a long ride on Sunday, if it bothers me, I’ll give an update. Those smaller/cheaper upgrades are a good part of the fun. I have AME grips on all my bikes but my 24” Monza. I’ll probably swap out for Ame on it and my incoming 27.5”
Good question! We’ll have to check with Thomas. They are Dia-Compe, not sure if they can be made/ordered all blue, of if it’s a “you get what you get” scenario from Dia-Compe. I’ll circle back here once we know.
Ready to change up from Mtn Bike to a cruiser, 56 and still nuts about bmx bikes Sold a primo Box series GT I restored yrs back, robinson lay back post nos (still in teh plastic) and Nos CW Bars my fav. at 6'3 it was just too small I was bummed.
Fantastic video covering all the bases on this new model! Your videos are always so well done and thought out. Excellent review and I’m stoked you got to try one out early too!! 🤙🏼
Thanks Kevin! Appreciate the feedback. Can’t wait to watch your next video about your experiences with the red one later today. Love the comradely and fun energy that you and Bernie bring to the table 🙌👊💥
I wish they would have had the 27.5 when I ordered the 26inch I can't get myself to order it since I have the 26 Monza. Nice video and thanks for sharing this.
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood that's too bad that they don't offer a limited edition (it'd be more expensive of course). I love the look of the Tuff wheel.
I'm 6 foot 3 and over 300 lbs. Im looking to get back into biking to loose some weight and get out with my kids. Would you suggest a 26, 27.5, or a 29 for cruising around the neighborhood? I dont plan on hitting any jumps or anything big like that.
It’s a beautiful bike, but you can get a fitbikeco cr26 for roughly $600. It’s a 26” but you’re supporting a company that gives back into bmx events and bmx riders. The fit cr26 is also engineered by the top dog in the game, S&M bikes.
Goldilocks!!! 💯 That GT will always have a special place in my heart, but if I’m going on a longer casual ride… this is the choice. I need to ride them back to back to be able to put my finger on it, but I feel like the posture this one puts me in is more comfortable 👍
Yeah, it’s all about what feels good to you! 👊 I have a 27.5 MTB and despite the same wheel size, it feels very different from this Monza. 24” is still my choice for the pump track, and my 20” is what I’m slowly learning flatland tricks on. 👍
Price really went up on Monza bikes. Doubled I think. Riders are going to want to know where to get the tires. Smart ones will probably grab two to three pairs. I’ve never seen 27.4 gumwalls
The 24” with Skyways were always a little more expensive than the 26” that had spoked wheels. I think they went up around $200. Maybe more like $100 if you use my coupon code. Manufacturing and shipping costs have increased, and then they’re upgrading things like the cranks. I assume that combo explains the price increase. I think the 27.5 seem so much more expensive than the 26” because the 26” were discounted towards the end, because of excess inventory (which happened to most bike companies and shops after the post-pandemic demanded dropped off.) Good point about having extra tires on hand! 👍
My code expired at the end of October. For November, they are doing 30% down with the rest of payment due before it ships in March. If you’re having trouble or have questions, I’d suggest reaching out to Thomas at Monza. He usually responds quickly. thomas@monzabc.com
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood finally ordered one today in blue. Waited to long for the discount code but that’s ok. Watching your channel has brought back so many memories of my bmx days. Thanks for doing what you do!
I hear what you’re saying, but I also have a 27.5” Salsa Timber Jack mountain bike. I have a 20” flatland bike, a 24” Monza, and two 26” BMX’s. The geometry on this new Monza feels way more like a BMX than a MTB. I don’t think your perspective is unreasonable, but I’d say it’s more than barely a BMX, but either way, no question that it gives off fun old school BMX vibes. 👍
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood Yep, it's very much a subjective thing so comes down to personal interpretation. Having fun is all the matters when all is said and done! I finally found and ordered a suitable and available new BMX to get me back in to the hobby again after all these years. A 20" bike with 21" top tube and a 'mellow' trails geometry to suit my intended riding style. If it's as much fun as I'm hoping then I may at some point get a 24" model, perhaps the WeThePeople Atlas, so to have that extra option when desired.
Nah, 27.5 and 29 should not be used in the same sentence as BMX. At 58 years old, I’ve been an avid BMXer, Road Biker, AND Mountain Biker. I’ve fully immersed myself into each of those subcatagories. 27.5” isn’t BMX. It’s beach cruiser/neighborhood basher at best.
OK boomer 🤣 Just kidding… from a purist perspective, I hear you. But there is also another subcategory called ”big bike BMX” and/or “big wheel BMX” lots of legit BMX manufacturers like Gary/Craig Turner, Torker, Race Inc, Supercross, etc all make 29” bikes and label them as BMX. But it’s just a label, if it’s a fun bike, I’m good 👊👍
Love your videos bro keep em coming

@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood it definitely is. I do like 27.5.If I didn't have so many bikes right now I would definitely get that 27.5 Monza.
Is there a reason why the 26 and 27.5 inch don't get the tuff wheel option? Looks like it is only available in the 24"

It’s from Park Tool. I got it in 2017 when prices were MUCH cheaper 🤣
