This version is essentially the silver age version of mr freeze just with a modern update, i respect them for that Cause while, yes, it isn't the freeze we know it dosen't mean this take isn't valid. If anything, I'm glad they took elements from his silver age counterpart
While I greatly prefer the more sympathetic renditions of Mr Freeze, but this show was actually my first introduction to Batman and Mr Freeze and I really digged this more sinister and evil take on Mr Freeze where he's barely sympathetic at all and a menacing force of nature with a vendetta against Batman. It's refreshing to see a good adaptation of the classic criminal Mr Freeze before BTAS reinvented him for the better. His design is also SICK ASF and Clancy Brown gives a fittingly bone chilling performance as this more evil takes on Freeze. While I always prefer Mr Freeze as a tragic villain trying to save his wife, I'm always open to new ideas and adaptations and I'm glad this series did their own thing with Freeze and made him such a cool villain (pun intended) with a simple motivation
@@milkiassamuel780 I literally couldn't agree more with every word you just said. Especially with Clancy Brown's performance, it was genuinely amazing!
@@EnterZelda2007 Same. This show did a really job at reinventing alot of characters in small ways, that actually made a big difference in the long run. Victor's story of love is of my favorite things about him, but being able to see a version of him thats driven by hate and power, is so badass and unique. He's nothing like the Victor we're used to seeing, which for me, makes me more interested in his character overall.
@@magicman3163 That's actually Mr. Zero. Thats before Paul Dini reinvented the character into becoming Mr. Freeze, as far comics and animated shows go at least. But in the 60s TV show, he was reintroduced as Mr. Freeze, which was our first introduction to Mr. Freeze. He was still more so just a mad scientist at the time. However, Paul Dini was the one who gave him the in depth, emotional, origin story.

A lot of people were Divided on this Version of Mr. Freeze when The Batman 2004 was on the Air and I really like this version of Freeze mainly cause of his Actual Ice Powers instead of using an Ice Gun.
the ice abilities may be cool but he really doesnt have a real personality unlike other villains. He lacks any goal besides money and power and doesnt even have a reason for either of those, no backstory to speak of.
Its so damn ironic that the coolest design for Freeze ever was used for arguibly the most one-note iteration of the character. Now, mind you, I don't mind that they removed Nora from his backstory. Even though Heart of Ice is *iconic* , and for good reason, I do not object to new takes on preexisting characters (I mean, just look at the version of Klarion from Young Justice. If reiterating characters wasn't allowed we never would have gotten that version of "The Witch Boy" ) My main problem is that , not unlike a lot of other villains from the *same show* , Freeze had a lot of people knew him for stripped away, but for him specifically they really didn't replace it with anything substantial aside from an awesome design and excellent voice acting. *The rule of cool* , no pun intended, can only carry a character so far. In the end I think I "appreciate" this version of Freeze more than I actually enjoy what he brings to the table.
The Batman's take on Freeze is always interesting to me. While fairly flat with his goals as a simple robber, I can appreciate the attempt to make him a little different. Design and Clancy Brown's performance salvages it a bit.
while i apreciated they didn't want to best freeze version from the animated series, i still wanted to make better stuff with him than just make him an evil ice guy like captain cold. His design is excellent, and although i can see removal of the nora part of his story can certainly made a lot fans not happy, he certainly adds a new angle to the charecter. And i always love mr freeze, and this version was certainly my favourite
Well in the original comics Mr Freeze who was Mr Zero back then was just a mad scientist who rob banks with a freeze gun so that was the miscommunication of Mr Freeze and the same for Norman Osborn. This is just a nitpick for the future episode that there should have been a throw away from Alfred saying that Bruce has not been the same since his divorce and that his wife left him along with his daughter Helena
@@srstriker6420 Yeah, we didn't get the story of Victor that we all know and love until 1992, when Paul Dini reinvented the character. But even then, Mr. Zero, and the Mr. Freeze prior to '92, weren't "take over the world by freezing it solid and incase everyone, including innocents in ice forever" evil. Still pretty evil, but not 2004 Mr. Freeze evil hah
i always thought there could be a redemption arc for this version of mr freeze. what if in the future, there is another villain from batman's rogues gallery that somehow made it to the year 3027. the Gotham City Police gave Victor a chance at a normal life in exchange for his assistance. Victor gradually grows more of a conscience and begins to have empathy for others. something he lost long ago.
@@mattknill This NEEDS to happen. Something like that would've made a great multi-part episode. Being able to see the complete 180 of a man blinded by anger and hate, only to reform into someone who now cares about the citizens and feels bad for the trauma he caused, would've played so good into the emotional writing behind the characters in this show.
I hated the backlash that this version of Freeze drew from the . . . let's say "dedicated" fans of the DCAU, to be significantly more polite than they were . . . because it wasn't *exactly* the version that was in BtAS. I can respect that they where TRYING to do something different, it was that very experimental nature that made the Mr.Freeze of "A Heart of Ice" fame. My grips with it, one major and one minor, is that they stuck gold with heart of ice Freeze that any other one just seems lacking in comparison, and in the show that has honestly better portrays of The Riddler and Clayface and even no-names like Ragdoll (Voice actor killed it, btw), it makes its "just okay" take seem really bad in comparison. My bigger problem is that his narrow sighted obsessions and self destructive tendencies from said narrow cone of vision has made him just an ice themed Fire-Fly, whom I would rather just have instead.
