you are! :-) never saw him live, but i'm in the know since 1974 (from germany). once my greyhound bus came through Tulsa, back in 1978. i'm 67 now ;-) - oh well... i stumbled over this piece, 'coz i know a "roxy club" from that time. but was it in LA or in NYC? ;-) - what a drag it is getting old ;-)
Love how different his live versions are from recordings. Cajun Moon was super swampy and funky on record. This has got a whole country/Appalachian vibe going.
What’s crazy also is each of his live versions sound markedly different in terms of pace, tempo and feel….truly shows what a special speak musician this man is
JUST MY OPINION - This is the best version of JJ doing his song - just him with his geetar. For a produced, version, I like Maria Muldaur's from 73 - her voice is perfect for it. Overall, this is the best, thanks for the upload.
I love this one.....Thanks for the video.....i am entering 60 and have grown up listening to Great Musicians like JJ, Clapton, ChetAtkins and all others all my life.....we're blessed for such good music enriching our lives always.
Cajun moon, where does your power lie As you move across the southern sky You took my babe way too soon What have you done, Cajun moon Someday babe, when you want your man And you find him gone, just like the wind Don`t trouble your mind whatever you do `Cause Cajun moon took him from you When daylight fades, the night comes on You can hear the silence of this song Don`t trouble your mind whatever you do `Cause he got me like he got you

The detail in his guitar work is out of this world.

Can't ever get enough J.J. Cale. Consider myself fortunate to have seen him live three times & I'm only 48.

Perfect guitar picking, great artist!!!
Yes I totally agree. To me his guitar work is total genius.

That's how the best are, when they play alone.
When they play with others, they tone their parts down to share the stage with the others.
Man, hard to beat his music.
