Signalis was my favorite game of 2022. I thought about it obsessively after beating it, and went back for more endings. My mind ran around in circles for WEEKS after finishing this game. I haven't played it in months, but still think about it often.
I really think Sunset Overdrive is one of the prime examples of games that should not have been an exclusive. It's a bit too niche to be enough to sell someone on a console but might have increased their sales enough to get a sequel by being on everything.

I saw him stream it and understand how different it is, but it's a kind of puzzler I really don't think we've seen before, and it is done beautifully. Plus, I love that it's got this old-timey pixel graphic style, making it feel like something back in the Commodore vs Apple days of my youth.
The problem with Obra Dinn is the visual style. Many people who played it complained about headaches after a few hours and as someone who often suffers from migraines I can't look at the game for longer than a couple of minutes because it makes me feel like I'm about to get a migraine from it. The puzzle stuff, the mysteries seem really interesting but the visual style they chose is an absolute pain.

So much fun and it's crazy that it's a Tango Gameworks outing, never would've thought haha.
There's a game that I loved to play during the PS2 era called Blood Will Tell. Although this game had a Metacritic score of 67, the user score was 8.2. This game follows the Japanese folklore of the thief Dororo and man named Hyakkimaru, whose 48 body parts were stolen demons when he was an infant. This is a typical hack-and-slash where its gameplay slowly changes as you regain Hyakkimaru's body parts. It has decent voice acting and responsive controls. Sadly, this game goes for over $400 on eBay. It would probably be cheaper to emulate it on your PC. Totally worth it and deserves a remaster. They even made a movie based on this game. This is one of my favorite games on the PS2.
Honestly, for Hi-Fi Rush, I think the reason why most players might not be playing it is cause it wasn't really mentioned that much in media/not really played by youtubers so not a lot of people know about it.

Pentiment is such a masterpiece. Together with Citizen Sleeper, it was the best game of 2022, to me, but I understand that people are not used to read so much text when they are playing
Insane! I learned about both Signalis and Citizen Sleeper earlier today and now here they are, together in this video! There are definitely coincidences in life but this seems like a sign to load up the dusty ol' Playstation wallet.
if you like turn-based tactical RPGs, Midnight Suns is fantastic. forget the Marvel coat of paint, the game mechanics are legitimately deep and a blast to play around with. same studio that made XCOM series.
Absolutely love both Citizen Sleeper and Pentiment. Excellent rpgs, bests since Disco Elysium imo Edit: posted before 2 and 1. Also Signalis and The Return of the Obra Dinn. Both also excellent.
Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favorite action games of all time and I don't even care about super heroes at all. The OST was incredible, especially the custom made album for the game itself.
I played *Guardians of the Galaxy* at launch. I expected it to be mediocre at best and was pleasantly surprised. It has a great mix of the comic lore and MCU stuff so it can appeal to fans of either. The story is entertaining to follow and the dialogue is hilarious. The combat is the only area that would need improvement if a sequel were to happen. Unfortunately, that seems unlikely due to Square Enix's reactions to the game's sales performance. I played *Hi-Fi Rush* not long after launch and have been enjoying it. *Sunset Overdrive* was the second game I purchased for the Xbox One, and I loved it. The visual style and bright colors helped make it stand out. The traversal is like a mix of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Mirror's Edge, but with more special abilities. The weapon variety is unique, and the game does give you a reason to switch up the class of weapon you're using depending on the mission and enemy type(s). It's also a funny game, with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. If Insomniac still holds the IP, I hope PlayStation lets them make a sequel at some point. I know I've played *Virginia,* but I don't remember much. I'm not even sure if I completed the story. EDIT: I've also been making my way through *Citizen Sleeper.* It's different than the type of games I usually play, but I like it for that reason. Having to choose which actions to run in any given cycle is sometimes stressful, and it's interesting to learn more about how that world works.
I really wish the GotG game got some sort of DLC or a sequel had been announced. It would make people want to play it more I think. I laughed, cried, got frustrated, just went through every emotion playing that game and I wanted more so bad.
Hi-Fi Rush is gorgeous. Night in the woods is amazing. Signalis, Virgia, Citizen Sleeper are great. So, what do you mean "You didn't play"?! These are all Masterpieces in my book!
Here's the problem I have. I am a physical game collector. Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush and Citizen Sleeper I would love to play but none of them have been released physically. The Return of Obra Dinn and A Night in the Woods got limited releases through Limited Run. If games were made more available physically, I would play them more. Hate buying games digitally. This also goes for Warhammer 40k Boltgun right now. Would love to play it. Where's the physical release?
@@HistoryMajor7 I am waiting for physical copies of Tunic (from Fangamer) and Chained Echoes (from First Press) so I get physical when it's available even if I have to wait forever to get them. Seems like Microsoft in particular doesn't care about physical at all. Throw it on Gamepass and call it good enough. Really annoys me lately
If you like solving a murder, you'll like Pentiment. If you like solving 60 at the same time, Return of the Obra Dinn is for you. They're $20 each, as opposed to $60-70 plus microtransactions, so check it out.
I like Guardians of the Galaxy, but after maybe six hours with the game I didn't feel the need to complete it. What left me wanting was, the other guardians may as well not have been there. You don't play them, merely use their abilities when the cooldown is up in combat. It was wildly frustrating. Since it was on Gamepass and I wasn't hugely monetarily invested, I dropped it.
It is a real bummer that Midnight Suns probably won’t be getting a sequel as the game got so much right & showed a lot of promise for the future. The combat is absolutely top notch, but unfortunately the game gets bogged down in between missions with the need to sit around a giant house planning birthday parties and gossiping about other superheroes. It would be great if they could release a stripped down version for people who like actual gameplay.
Forgot to mention I bought Sunset Overdrive before I was able to shell out the money for an Xbox One, and I had a lot of fun playing it, first time in a long time I reached the end of the game with a smile on my lips. So when Hi-Fi Rush came out, it reminded me a lot of not only the main character from Sunset Overdrive, but the action too.
Finally, something different. We got bored of the same popular games shown everywhere. Keep doing this kind of videos and maybe add something by genre.
It would be easier for me to list the games I have not played. Midnight Suns is that entire list and it has been on my radar for some time now. All the rest are phenomenal games that I cannot recommend enough.
Sunset Overdrive is the reason I ended up with an Xbox One. It is the only console I haven't bought on launch day and I decided to because the Sunset Overdrive edition was the first white one and the game looked great and was from a great developer.
Think you have tipped the scale on Signalis. Looked at it on the shelf a few times now. But I have Void Bastards and Journey To The Savage Planet to get through first. 😅
I always wished more people had the chance to play an oldie game of the ps2 era called Shadow Heart from the new world, i accept the game was not the best in the story telling department but og boy the mechanics of the combat system, so fun, so deep and so many ways to play, I still own the game and play time to time and never gets old
The only one I've played was a night in the woods. However that dents my faith in the list more than a bit. I started it twice because TH-camrs kept saying it was great. The furthest I got in before becoming to bored to physically continue was about 4 hours. An unremarkably story boringly told, artificially extended with psx era mini games.
The reason Obra Din doesn’t have a bigger audience is simple. At face value, it just looks soooooo boooooring. Like a permanent “detective vision” game. Including here, it has been recommended to me so many times but I just can’t do another “walking simulator” type game. Especially with such EtchaSketch visuals. And it’s probably great, but I’ll just never play it…
I've played sunset overdrive. Great game. I wouldn't be able to play that final game. Black and white visuals hurt my eyes. X.x Speaking of great games no one played battle zone and battle zone 2 are two highly underrated video games. Battle zone came with gateway computers whereas battle zone 2 didn't have the funds to advertise. It was a wonderful rts with fps elements.
I couldnt really get into signalis when I attempted to play it, I can tell its going to be one of those games I'll revisit years from now snd actually enjoy.
This game Guardians of the galaxy. Is one of the best games I've played. I put it off for a long time because if how avengers went. then said he'll with it. It was a real diamond in the rough
Quard Ian's of the galaxy is really strange, maybe the players had trust issues after avenger? Aside from that many other titles here were mystery games or games with a unusual graphic style or concept.
The hi-fi rush blurb from Jeff “Massively Inaccurate” Grub was debunked from the developers themselves. And there’s lots of top selling games that have very low completion stats from achievements. MOST players don’t finish games.
I definitely played GOTG but the Telltale one is better, imo. I might still play Midnight Subs at some point but I’m kinda mad how long they took to release the PS4 version and were completely radio silent about it. I thought it was quietly cancelled until I looked it up after ChristopherOdd did another sponsored video and it was scheduled to release like 2 days later lol. They literally were radio silent until it released. Was quite annoying. I kept checking their OFFICIAL WEBSITE and couldn’t even find a word about it not being cancelled even 2 months after initial release.

I definitely needed to hear that man. Thank you so much. Also, great video.
Pentiment is such a masterpiece. Together with Citizen Sleeper, it was the best game of 2022, to me, but I understand that people are not used to read so much text when they are playing
0:36 if there is something i know about the Guardians, it is that they are not big characters. More like secondary characters with a movie.
Insane! I learned about both Signalis and Citizen Sleeper earlier today and now here they are, together in this video! There are definitely coincidences in life but this seems like a sign to load up the dusty ol' Playstation wallet.
Sunset overdrive has probably some of the best comedy I’ve seen in a video game! Super enjoyable game
if you like turn-based tactical RPGs, Midnight Suns is fantastic. forget the Marvel coat of paint, the game mechanics are legitimately deep and a blast to play around with. same studio that made XCOM series.
Absolutely love both Citizen Sleeper and Pentiment. Excellent rpgs, bests since Disco Elysium imo
Edit: posted before 2 and 1. Also Signalis and The Return of the Obra Dinn. Both also excellent.
Oooh I love Sunset Overdrive! Was the game that made me get my Xbox One and it was a noticeable next gen jump at the time.
EDIT:
I've also been making my way through *Citizen Sleeper.* It's different than the type of games I usually play, but I like it for that reason.
Same reason I didn’t play them either and with Hi Fi Rush they’ll remove the songs once the licenses for them expire
Yeah, I had to finally download Night in the Woods.
I like playing overlooked games so this is a good video to try different stuff. I played/want to play most of them though
Marvel's Midnight Sun is especially heartbreaking considering Callisto Protocol stole the spotlight...and ultimately failed to deliver.
I practically wept for my lost youth when I played ‘Night in the woods’, easily one of my favourite games.
I played Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, I liked them both. So, yeah, I played those games. 😁
It’s so weird hearing that something didn’t do well because it came out the same time as The Callisto Protocol
NITW is my favourite indie game everything comes together music, art and character
Subset Overdrive's core gameplay loop involves tower defense. You'd never realize if I didn't tell you lol.
GOTG was actually incredible. So much so that I actually preferred this crew to the movie versions, which I also love!
Most people are tired od being told what were supposed to like. So we ignore critics who are usually paid for reviews or just looking for clicks
We only likes what we likes mate, besides what's the point with reviews of games that get released a year or two before they're finished anyhoo?
Not sure how it reviewed but a game similar to games on this list like obra dinn was the sexy brutale. That game is criminally overlooked imo
I love the message at the end.
I wish signalis was more mainstream
Signalis rules. Super atmospheric.
Sunset is a great game. Hifi rush was fun and looks amazing but it didn't grab me. I'm waiting for Disco Elysium to be back on sale.
Speaking of great games no one played battle zone and battle zone 2 are two highly underrated video games. Battle zone came with gateway computers whereas battle zone 2 didn't have the funds to advertise. It was a wonderful rts with fps elements.
I knew a lot of these games but you’re totally right. I’ve never played any of them yet lol.
I couldnt really get into signalis when I attempted to play it, I can tell its going to be one of those games I'll revisit years from now snd actually enjoy.
West Of Dead 7/10 and I doubt many have heard of it with Hellboy himself Ron Pearlman it's really good
Hi-Fi Rush and Sunset Overdrive are fine examples of exclusivity hindering financial success (and creative risk-taking as a consequence).
This game Guardians of the galaxy. Is one of the best games I've played. I put it off for a long time because if how avengers went. then said he'll with it. It was a real diamond in the rough
I thought the claims that Hi-Fi Rush didn't make it's money back was disputed.
Breaking even isn't considered "a success".
I tried to play Virginia but it gave me such bad motion sickness from the head bob animation. You can’t turn it off either 😢
I bought Marvel Midnight Suns and all the DLC but haven't started it yet.
idk why but i was quite shocked in a good way hearing that last part of the video
