I must admit, I'm not quite a fan of this version of "Live and Learn". Sounds like it's trying to cater a little too much to the bombastic nature of OSTs from Hollywood movies and sounds like a song that could have fit within a James Bond movie. I think the small instrumental cover of "Live and Learn" from the title logo teaser of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 managed to stay a little more true to the video game, while still sounding new and unique to the movie. But since this version here from Bentley Jones isn't going to be featured in the movie, it will be interesting to see what the actual movie version is gonna sound like and what direction they went for with it.
I don't think this is THAT bad, it's just not as energetic as the original. Which i do understand, i do prefer a more electronic rock version over this. But we gotta remember, movie soundtracks don't work the same as game soundtracks. I think it would probably ruin an emotional scene if you had a hype energetic electronic rock song bustin' it out in the background to Shadow falling without his limiter rings. I think you guys are just thinking of this scene in a way that fits because you want it to fit.

This is all about the mentality of what people think movie OSTs needs to sound like, and that has to change in my opinion. Also no, the SA2 game did not play the hype energetic electronic Live and Learn in the background when Shadow fell down to earth after using Chaos Control on the ARK. It played during the initial fight in the game, but once Final Bio-Lizard was defeated and Sonic & Shadow had to stop the ARK from colliding with earth, the game switched songs to a much more dramatic and sad one that perfectly fits within Shadow's sacrifice to save earth.

While not as good as the original, it's a legitimately a good and underrated remix that's a fresh take on this legendary classic. For the idea it was going for, it works. Obviously it's much slower paced take compared to the faster and high energy the original version provided, but it's also a unique and interesting idea you managed to make work. A solid remix that grew on me and I hope it grows on others too. One small complaint. It's "When you can't help but follow"

It’s a real shame that this probably won’t be the version used in the film. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Crush 40, especially for the meaning they had in my childhood as well as now, and love the original song at least as much as this one. But when it comes to which version can best serve as music to an epic, live-action, cinematic take on a scene where two super hedgehogs stop a monumental space colony from crashing into the Earth and having devastating impact, there is just no competition. This version literally made me go from being pretty “meh” about Live & Learn playing in the final battle of Sonic 3 to being like “oh my god, let’s go!!!”… as the original is more like washing up music really… And not that there’s anything wrong with washing up music! I think there is plenty of stunning & genius music that is appropriate for washing up to, but just doesn’t work for the kind of epic, live-action, big-screen setting that I described above. Anyway, this really is a smashing track. Thank-you for making it 🙏👏
