It sounds like you have an interpretation of slavery that overly associates it with railroad labour. They were mainly plantation slaves. And the railroads were built in a very short period of time relative to the duration of slavery.
Muddy Waters plays the blues. BB. King sings the blues. John Lee Hooker is the blues. Top of the tree imo. Fred Mcdowell is the closest to him in my humble opinion.
