    Nice work. I sailed for 15 years. Nothing takes more feel and skill than docking. Esp in weather.

      @@normanboyes4983 I always used to say that nothing beats walking into a crowded room with a beautiful woman on your arm. As for making love, that always came naturally to me. You just pay attention.

    You sure do know how to handle a boat around the docks! Impressive.
    Do you get any opportunity to maneuver sailboats with outboards? I have a 28' sailboat with an outboard mounted on the transom. It has the gear (fwd / reverse) selector on the tiller handle, which I put an extender on so I am able to steer with one hand on the boat's tiller and the other on the outboard throttle. Steering is by boat's tiller. I manage ok, but it can be tricky business. It would be cool to see you handle a boat configured this way.

    This looks like many hours of practice. My wife is impressed by the way I handle a tractor trailer truck maybes much as your skills impressed me. Hey just subscribed to your channel.

    great work!!!! what advice would you give to somebody who is 35 and want to career switch to become a captain is it doable where do i start my ultimate goal is to make it my job and sail the world in 3 years time you reply will be highly appreciated captain Ivan!!!!

      I think it's definitely doable! I'm still working on it myself. I have my Inland Captains license and I'm always still learning. I'd suggest you get yourself a "Chapman Piloting and Seamanship" book as well as the USCG "Rules of the Road" book.
      MOST IMPORTANTLY get some time out on the water whether it's as a First Mate or a Vessel Operater, you'll always learn new things. Goodluck Avy! Wish you the best!👍

    How do you back a sailboat in a slip? Mine pulls to the port side.

      Hi Patrick, some will kick to the port and some will kick to the starboard side. Some more than others, they all have there own personality. If your sailboat kicks to the port you want to try and have your slip on your 7 o'clock when you hit reverse and it should line you up with your slip when backing in. Beware, This only works until you have to brake. If you're not in a position to do this, try giving your boat a good throttle and then go to neutral to get some current going and then you should be able to fix the direction you want to go from there.     I've been handling sailboats for over 40 years. I can't figure out how from a stop you get the 30 footer to back up to starboard when the Yanmar RH turning prop walks the boat to port from a stop.

      There is only one way: Hard left rudder and a good kick ahead on the throttle to get the stern swinging to starboard, then bring the rudder amidships so there is a lot of surface area preventing the stern from swinging back to port, and get it moving astern. Once you have some way on astern, you can counter any prop walk with some right rudder. The trick is that you need at least 2-3 ft of room ahead of you to pull it off without still walking to port.

    We’ll done, up until something unexpected happens. Great manoeuvering skills but what if the engine doesn’t reverse when requested to?

      Lol Keyword UNEXPECTED.
      I've been in situations where I'm docking and the TRANSMISSION doesn't go into gear. Gotta be quick to jump off the sailboats and stop it with your lines on the cleats while step on the cleat with on foot so it won't come off the dock and shoot straight to you. Also been in a situation where the shaft comes off the transmission. All of these where unexpected and happen due to lack of Engine inspections.
      When I do these videos I do it with a boat I know I can rely on.

      Marine Harmony good to know this is a well prepared stunt. I took it as a regular harbor manœuvre. Maybe then you should tell people « don’t do it at home » as most youtubers do when they show something dangerous ;)

    Sailors make great Seaman! They are more aware of wind and currents and how our boats will be affected by them.

    Background music too loud. There's no wind and no current. If you are familiar with the transverse thrust and steering characteristics - sorry, it's not really so challenging.

    Are you kidding me? You use way too much throttle. No need for that. Control your pace and people may actually learn from you. You will cause damage some day.

      I’ve seen a drink guy with a beer in one hand back into a slip ata crazy speed, throw it in forward and jerk to a perfect stop. You need stern way. Esp in wind. Anyone can dock in no current and no wind. He did it perfectly. He had control because he had speed.
