Times have indeed changed: It used to be that the Lions were almost guaranteed a Top-5 pick in the draft. It will be fun to pick at 32 after the giant Championship Parade!
Brad Holmes’ draft philosophy revolves around picking the best player available (BPA) rather than reaching for positional needs, which has served the Lions well in building a competitive roster. With that in mind, here are 10 players the Lions could target in the 2025 NFL Draft based on their current needs and Holmes' approach: 1. **Mason Graham (DT, Michigan)** - A force on the interior defensive line who could bolster the Lions' ability to control the trenches and stop the run. 2. **Dani Dennis-Sutton (EDGE, Penn State)** - A powerful edge rusher who could complement Aidan Hutchinson and improve Detroit’s pass rush. 3. **Tetairoa McMillan (WR, Arizona)** - A polished wide receiver with the ability to stretch the field and add more firepower to the Lions' offense. 4. **Will Johnson (CB, Michigan)** - A big, athletic cornerback with the skills to lock down top receivers, fitting the Lions' need for defensive playmakers. 5. **Ashton Jeanty (RB, Boise State)** - A versatile weapon who excels as both a runner and a pass-catcher, bringing depth and explosiveness to the backfield. 6. **Kelvin Banks Jr. (OT, Texas)** - A high-upside offensive lineman who could provide insurance and long-term stability on the offensive line. 7. **James Pearce Jr. (EDGE, Tennessee)** - An explosive pass rusher with a relentless motor who fits Detroit’s emphasis on toughness in the trenches. 8. **Benjamin Morrison (CB, Notre Dame)** - A savvy corner with a nose for the ball who could bring more playmaking to the secondary. 9. **Savion Williams (WR, TCU)** - A big-bodied receiver with excellent hands and red-zone potential to pair with Detroit’s current wideout group. 10. **Tyler Baron (EDGE, Miami-FL)** - A versatile defensive lineman who can play multiple spots and add depth to an already strong unit. Holmes loves players who are not only talented but bring leadership, versatility, and a tough, team-first mentality. Any of these prospects could fit the bill for the Lions in 2025.
Who’s to say he didn’t like Sainrastil? I bet he probably did. Sometimes the board doesn’t fall to get all the players you might want. I bet they like a TON of players that we’ll never know about.
@@raymondwhittenberg3873 right. They weren’t drafting him in the 1st rd and he was gone in the 2nd where they picked. I liked who they got. I think Arnold is gonna be a great cb, and Branch is already what Sanristill dreams to be.
As a BGSU alumni they’ve only been talking about Fannin there since he got to school. He’s been their offense for years. Also I hadn’t watched any of Stewart yet so I just watched them against Notre Dame and I can see there is a lot to like with both him and Scourton.
So far every mock draft I go…. I end up drafting Prince from Ol’Miss Ivey. Ol’Miss Stewart. Michigan As my first pick. One of those 3. I’ll trade down for more picks and still get decent picks. I go for DE Oline LB WR CB Oline
You're right that we have to move past the college allegiances when drafting -- but I still cringe when I see Taylor Decker's Giant Ohio State tattoo ... but Decker is a heck of a player! GO LIONS!!!
So odd, not even hardly thought about the draft yet and usually as a lions fan we are considering where in the top 10 we will be picking. Oddly, we don't have a ton of needs, I guess that's a good thing. We've come a long way Ris. I agree, the trenches seem like the biggest needs, WR, and would love to get a good SAM LB
Barnes is pretty darn good, but is on an expiring contract and also hurt. We have Nowaske too, but one guy doesn’t make depth. There is room to look for another SAM linebacker. But I guess that also depends if our next DC still wants that position.
Right, we're not going to be able to keep everyone and Barnes has not been available yet this season. It may depend on what kind of contract but we need to start looking towards the draft to the future
I will admit that a Sam linebacker who can really rush the passer would be nice. I think we will likely get Barnes back, he can’t ask for too much after being hurt, and and our cap space looks good
That’s not entirely true. Barnes played games at the beginning of the year but knee injuries are normally long recoveries. I don’t think we need to jettison him just because of this. He doesn’t have a long injury history and has improved every year here. Not to mention the type of player he is is rather difficult to find.
if they drafted nothing but trench guys, specifically O-line, I wouldn't be upset. The present o-line getting up in years. It'd be wise to draft and rebuild for the future.
@@deesnutts4936 so then do that after the 2025 season not this coming off season. Dudes cost like 1.8 million next year and 1.9 in 2026 . You ain't finding a vet that you would be OK with for less than 10 million. With all the big contracts in 26 it would be smart to keep him let him leave after getting him some face time over the next 2 years to get a 3rd round comp pick back
Your "Bert" from Sesame Street haircut is top notch.😂😂 Time for you to draft another barber.
Now, now... be nice.
Million percent spot on
😅😂😅. Cold but not wrong.
You said it before I could...well done.

Thanks Jeff, always enjoy the Lions' insights.
Never too early to prospect the draft. I like it

Why on earth would we draft a RB
I’d love all of those defensive picks but we need little to nothing offensively
The good news is that it's Thanksgiving and, unlike in lean years past, we have more to discuss with this team than *just* the draft. GO LIONS!!!
by the way, I heard you say that Brad Holmes loves Alabama guys, but wish he had loved Mikey Sanristil--what a player for Washington!
He drafted the better version of sanristil the year before.
Who’s to say he didn’t like Sainrastil? I bet he probably did. Sometimes the board doesn’t fall to get all the players you might want. I bet they like a TON of players that we’ll never know about.

The O-line is the engine that drives the Lion's potent offense -- Brad Holmes will continue to make it a priority!

Jeff can we switch the Colts & Packers, so we don't have to play at Lambeau. Speak it into existence?
If Aaron Glenn gets a head coaching job we get a 2025 & 2026 3rd round picks.
if they drafted nothing but trench guys, specifically O-line, I wouldn't be upset. The present o-line getting up in years. It'd be wise to draft and rebuild for the future.
I'm a Arizona fan and if we somehow get T-Mac our WR room would be unstoppable
Guys going in the top 10 and a position we don't need tho
If AG gets a head coaching job do we get those 3Rd picks this year or next year?
Jeff what do you think of Michigan supposedly having a $50 M NIL budget in 2025. Yeah, some guys might stay in school.
If Mahogany & a rookie come in & dominate at starting jobs, start building the Brad Holmes statue.
Go Bobcats, FTR!!!
“Draft talk”? Fricking hilarious!?! 👍🏻 Woohoohoohahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂
None of those guys will be available when the Lions pick. JK. I couldn't resist that draft season joke.
We just don't want a QB from Ohio State. Other positions are ok.
We need hooker to ball out for a quarter 158.3 150 yards.. trade him for a 2nd like kolb or Flynn
Stop trying to get rid of him , he's a cheap back up that seems to accept his role and has looked decent at it

This is the worst format for a draft video ever. You could at least put up a picture of the guys and say the position if you aren't showing any tape
