Respect from a Broncos fan. Mad respect for Tim Brown and James Jett. I'm a WV boy and a Mountaineer fan, so I followed James Jett's career. Brown, Jett, and Rocket Ismail were a frightening trio of receivers.
A Bronco fan my entire life growing up in Colorado Springs. I still remember fondly my Mom shedding a few tears of joy when John Elway hoisted the Lombardi Trophy! I will always be a huge fan of Mr. Elway and the Denver Broncos!
Yeah ok. Go watch some Randall Cunningham highlights. Aaron Rodgers had more physical talent as well. I can make an argument for Steve Young, Dan Marino, and Brett Favre. We're talking pure physical talent. Mike Vick ran a 4.3 40 and threw a 70-yard bomb with ease.
@@birblife6611Steve Young lmfao. Go watch 5 minutes of Steve Young throws, 5 minutes of John Elway throws, and get back to me. Nobody threw the ball like Elway. Young had an average arm
@MostlySportsCommenter you're kidding right? I don't think you realize how physically gifted Steve Young was. And I never liked him. If you put him in a zone read/RPO offense of today, he would be unstoppable.
My hero and favorite player growing up as a kid. I felt all the pain of the superbowl loses and the joy and relief for him with the victories to end his career.
To me John Elway is the GOAT. Seen all his games and a few in person. Met him at the pro bowl once trying to get his autograph and his PR guy said he's busy and Elway said hey he's a Broncos fan and he signed it. Probably cause I had my Al Wilson jersey on
I was in the stands when John threw the first pass in the preseason his rookie year. You could hear the crowd gasp because of the velocity on that ball. It was obviously different than anything we had seen before. It was a great ride over the years. Thank You John Elway for making the Broncos and Denver a Great football town.
My first memory as a Broncos fan is the '86 Super Bowl. John Elway was my hero growing up. I was him every time I played football (pick up games, high school, etc) I even emulated his throwing motion which wasn't ideal but I got it down pretty good. Thanks for all the memories #7!
Bo Nix leading the Denver Broncos to a 6-5 record in his rookie year, while shattering numerous records, is nothing short of extraordinary. Earning Rookie of the Year-or even Offensive MVP for the season-seems well within reach for him.
Elway is an absolute legend. Talent, grit, heart, never say never attitude. Having said that, I think his problem was, him being that talented, he thought anyone with the right size and arm strength could do what he did. Be it Brock Osweiler(!) or Paxton Lynch (!!!). Elway did know how a good defense is supposed to look like, because that’s what he faced in his playing days.
He can assess and pick a defensive player all day you are correct there. Maybe being a QB studying defences sharpened his wits for that side of the game?
He destroyed my Ohio cousins football esteem over and over again. Of course Cleveland is doing it to themselves now as well, but when he had a couple minutes left at the end of a half with the ball, opponents got nervous. What a qb class in 83...glad I got to watch their careers.
I started watching the Broncos when Craig Morton was the quarterback. Then we got the great John Elway. What great years we had. Then Manning came in to give us a few more years of greatness. Now I see that Bo Nix most likely will be our next great. :)
IMHO of watching all levels of football for 45 years, John Elway is the greatest quarterback of all time. No one, did more with so little than John did. He willed the 80's teams to SBs. His stats get criticized, but he played in a different time for a defensive minded coach. The rules favored the D when he played. He was absolutely fun as heck to watch.
John Elway will never not be the Broncos. No athlete will ever pass John for the impact he had on Denver. The only debate in Denver sports is who the Teddy Roosevelt on the Mount Rushmore, because Elway is Washington, Sakic is Jefferson, and Jokic is Lincoln.
If I was a modern day GM, here are the things I would be looking for: Intelligence, making great decisions quickly, athleticism, grit and toughness. Then you have to develop the qb. Chicago has a history of not being able to develop qb's. KC has a history of being able to bring out the best of the quarterbacks.
I met him once. With his kids in our shop. He was my hero growing up. I've never been nervous being in the same room with someone. Super nice guy and hero.
With only 15 Modern-Era candidates and two Senior nominees each year lets make sure we dont forget some previous deserving players...... Put Joe Jacoby before Eli !! Theres not as many Offensive Lineman as great at Tackle as Joe. Eli will get in eventually, but BIg Joe deserves it NOW !
It’s telling that no discussion related to the GOAT qb with guys like Elway or Montana is ever done without bringing up Marino. He seems to be the choice among those who played the position. Even without the rings. Interesting
Marino was the one who broke the glass ceiling of passing attack, leading the way to 40-50 attempts/game. Before 1984, teams went vertically for an average of 20 attempts/game. Which means MANY were in the 15 attempts range!
Best of all time are Unitas and Starr and Graham and Starbucks and Bradshaw old school and Montana and Marino and Elway and Moon and Young and Aikmen and Favre and and Manning and Brady and Rodgers and Brees and Mahomes and Allen and Burrow today.
John Elway is THE quarterback NFL teams are looking for today. Big, strong, athletic, incomparable arm strength, super competitive, great leader ………. The prototypical quarterback of today. He could play successfully in any era. Miss him on the field.
The 3rd greayest player in Broncos history. TD #1, Manning #2 and then Elway. Elway is probably the worst at evaluating a QB. The Einstein picked Paxton Lynch over Dak
As a Raider fan for 35 years, I can tell you, John Elway is absolutely one of the all time greats.
Respect from a Broncos fan. Mad respect for Tim Brown and James Jett. I'm a WV boy and a Mountaineer fan, so I followed James Jett's career. Brown, Jett, and Rocket Ismail were a frightening trio of receivers.
As a Pats fan...he never was beaten by a Pats team.
Thanks captain
Respect
I agree mainly because hes my favorite qb of all time
A Bronco fan my entire life growing up in Colorado Springs. I still remember fondly my Mom shedding a few tears of joy when John Elway hoisted the Lombardi Trophy! I will always be a huge fan of Mr. Elway and the Denver Broncos!
We all did! Broncos Country for life!
There will never be another John Elway. Had the pleasure of meeting him in 1991. Great guy. The Comeback Kid!
We will always love John Elway in Colorado. He’s our GOAT.
In terms of raw physical talent - Nobody was better than Elway

@MostlySportsCommenter Even if I grant you that -- and I don't -- Favre, Marino, Cunningham, and Vick all had stronger arms.
@ you’re the only human alive who thinks Steve Young had more talent than Elway I don’t care if you grant me it
@MostlySportsCommenter you're kidding right? I don't think you realize how physically gifted Steve Young was. And I never liked him. If you put him in a zone read/RPO offense of today, he would be unstoppable.
My childhood hero. Wish we saw more of you John!
My hero and favorite player growing up as a kid. I felt all the pain of the superbowl loses and the joy and relief for him with the victories to end his career.
Born raised and still reside in IL and at 46 years old John Elway is the sole reason I am and will forever be a broncos fan.
To me John Elway is the GOAT. Seen all his games and a few in person. Met him at the pro bowl once trying to get his autograph and his PR guy said he's busy and Elway said hey he's a Broncos fan and he signed it. Probably cause I had my Al Wilson jersey on
#7 - Johnny Legend. My all-time favorite and the reason I've been a Broncos fan since the early 90's.
John Elway will always be my favorite footballer. I watched him at Stanford and became a hardcore Broncos fan when they signed him.
Loved watching Elway sling it…That era in the NFL was so much fun to watch. Elway, Moreno, and Fouts were my favorites. Fun times.
Good to see you champ!!

John mother lovin’ Elway. Legend.

Do you think Bo would be putting up these numbers in 1983? 1985?
Such a different game now.
Elway’s the GOAT
Blah blah blah.... get real
@ cry

John Elway was talked out of drafting Josh Allen.
John Elway is the sole reason that I am an NFL Fan as well as a Broncos Fan. He is the greatest QB to ever play. He elevated his team to play better.
Loved watching him, when he played it was never over, He mad me love Football. MY QB GOAT....
Graduating high school in 1999 as a Broncos fan in California, Elway was my hero!!
Loved Elway.

Great set of questions.

good to see him, he's been seemingly laying low
He did appear on the masked singer though lol, still so random but he sounds like he's well
Elway is the greatest player that I have ever seen in my lifetime of watching football.
Wish I was old enough to watch Elway in his prime.
This man was drafted when I was 2. My all-time favorite player.
The man who made #7 so famous
Elway is the GOAT. No one did more with less than this guy. Look at all his rosters.
I went to SJ State when Jack, his dad, was head coach and John was QB at Stanford.
Elway in today’s game would be a better version of Josh Allen.
Go have a few more drinks and interview Brian Flores big head!
I saw Elway in person last year. He looks a lot younger in person.
John was no joke 👍
my hero
4th quarter, 1:20 left, ball on the 6 yard line, I'm taking ELWAY over ANYONE.......
Ball on the two
I love elway
Imagine Elway in today's pass-happy league. He'd own every record.
Awesome MY FAVORITE QUARTER BACK OF ALL TIME !!! I know ,i know brady has seven rings but i still like elway 👏👏👏
Absolutely one of the great Quarterbacks Not so much as General Manager. Absolutely the worst as a talent evaluator. It is what it is.🙋🏻♂️
Legend
7:00 sounds like Anthony Richardson

John loves himself
QB: ✅
Drafting QB’s: You’re asking the wrong guy 😂😂
Size matters in the NFL. The bigger the more successful.
Being a QB took a toll. He looks closer to 80 than 64.
Playing out in the sun for most his life. If you wanna stay looking young, stay out of the sun.
Alcohol does bad things to the body.
Elway unfortunately drinks, alot.
He drinks a lot now, and he chews tabbacy also.
It's the alcohol buddy
I used to live in Denver, and people used to tell me that whenever they met John Elway, he was such a nice guy.
I met him once. With his kids in our shop. He was my hero growing up. I've never been nervous being in the same room with someone. Super nice guy and hero.
Is that Gary Busey?
With only 15 Modern-Era candidates and two Senior nominees each year lets make sure we dont forget some previous deserving players......

Eli will get in eventually, but BIg Joe deserves it NOW !
The great one
It didn't take a rocket surgeon to select Josh Allen, sheesh.
The Duke.
Were not worthy !
For Elway it was extremely difficult
Bo Nix needs to average 287 yards for the rest of the season to break 4000 passing yards on the season.
JONNY E!!!!!
He was pretty fucking good. I have seen them all... he's not a good as Montana... but that's about it.

top 10 yea, top 5 nah. Top five (retired) in no particular order: Montana, Elway, Brady, Peyton and Unitas.
Montana was the goat before Brady duh
@ I’m not arguing for one qb or another. Simply stating that when the topic arises all the greats bring up Marino
Montana beat him in Denver. Chiefs 😮😮😮
Man, Elway didn't age too well. Too much whiskey and cigars.
Best of all time are Unitas and Starr and Graham and Starbucks and Bradshaw old school and Montana and Marino and Elway and Moon and Young and Aikmen and Favre and and Manning and Brady and Rodgers and Brees and Mahomes and Allen and Burrow today.
His voice sounds really shaky
I have only had one sports hero in my lifetime. He is Jack Elway, John's dad .
Is he 80 years old?
My father in law is 64 and he is a alcoholic and John has similar attributes in this interview that he has. Hand shaking and weak voice
Elway looks hella old
Elway never evaluated a rookie QB correctly in his life. 😂
LOL I mean he did give a pretty good response - sounds like he learned a thing or two AND threw his OC / Coach under the bus.
He passed on Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love & Jalen Hurts.
H@@whatmaneZero Superbowl wins between them all!😂
Yeah it's probably a sore subject- hasn't met Bo Nix yet. Could be why.
John Elway is THE quarterback NFL teams are looking for today. Big, strong, athletic, incomparable arm strength, super competitive, great leader ………. The prototypical quarterback of today. He could play successfully in any era. Miss him on the field.
Sadly he's completely irrelevant in Denver anymore
Dude got old it’s scary
Being a great QB doesn't make you a great evaluator of QB talent, exhibit A: John Elway.
Because he was horrible at it. Great Player, bad office personnel
The 3rd greayest player in Broncos history. TD #1, Manning #2 and then Elway. Elway is probably the worst at evaluating a QB. The Einstein picked Paxton Lynch over Dak
Weird order. Reverse it.
@@jumpingjackjeebs3955 Elway is #1 TD played four years and Manning is great but Elway was a true Bronco for 18 yrs
