i really like that you mentionned how hard it was for jokic in the first years. i've heard a lot of comments, and from respected analysts at that, downright turning on the kid, after laying *so* much hype on him in the pre-season and the first few games. i mean, he's 19, a rookie, and playing on a team that was tanking for him last year *and* that has been a losing team ever since kawhi left five freakin' years ago to begin with ! of course he's gonna lose a lot of games ! even mj had to wait until his fourth season for the bulls to have a winning record...

It is fascinating to see how Wemby f*cks with the mental heuristics these guys have honed over many seasons in the NBA. What the proper speed is for a pass, the safe distance from the defender horizontally and vertically, all the spatial geometry that applies when delivering a safe passes or getting off shots. And then a telescopic arm extrends beyond what reason and experience tells you is possible and deflects or steals passes. An endless sequence of wtf moments.

Jokic came to NBA as nobody, fat, 156th draft pick, played semi-pro club in Serbia, never played Euroleague game and for first 3 seasons he was garbage time player, substitute to Nurkic, Fareed and Plumley, played power forward, not center, and only when coach Mallone realized his potential as center and playmaker, he immediately became one of best players in the league. On the other hand, Wnbanyama is breed to be NBA star, to be 1st draft pick and given star role from the start with all offense and deffense centered around him and with all media attention! That elbow and then that slight push off when you change direction. My god that dudes get away with so much but it's part of the game. I got to play college and coaches will look for ways to get around refs and play dirty against dirty players lmfao. It's funny but man it works. Shaq likes to step under you and then use his body weight to just move you. Lmfao so he gets close. Steps under you stealing your space and then if you struggle and push back...the refs might focus on you. Shaq then holds his position and demands the ball and then basically removes the chair from under these players and always creates space that way. It's so funny and so cheap. You almost have to make a SERIOUS rule to prevent it but how else do you play in the paint? Lol. I've seen shaq get close to dudes like touching and then just uses his butt to just push people away and he looks at the ref as if he was there the entire time. It's so funny players get away with all sorts of stuff dude. I've seen MJ push off so hard you can tell he is shocked that he didn't get a call. While everyone else thought the player slipped or something but nope MJ straight up gave him a quick push just enough to make him slip lmfao@@evancribben2080

It’s just cheap they let him get away with it because he’d a hell of alot less spelling to watch than he already is. all tall skinny players get injured a lot. Kareem was stronger and smarter than people remember and played at a time when fouls weren't given out for breathing on someone. Wemby is too young to make a judgement on his future MVP status as I have seen countless guys be praised as the next great player only they weren't, other teams will adjust.

He only played 25 mins because Jokic had him in deep foul trouble all game.

Once he develops discipline and builds up some muscle mass then he’ll be a monster. But god help the league if he bulks up like Giannis did. 😱

Huh? Did you watch the game? Vic only had 1 Foul on Joker. ( A rip through) and didn’t pick up his 4th till the 1st min in the 4th. And didn’t play the entire 4th…

ill take any 19 yr old rookie producing 22 pts 11reb 4blk and 6 stl while only playing 25 minutes, against the joker with last year's nba championship roster, any day of the week.

This was 3 months ago. It is incredible how Wemby has gotten better in that little time span. Barring injuries he will become one of the NBA greatest all time players for sure.

Fisical predisposition of the Wamba are insane with that height and long arms is easy to be average or good player

Agree! The physical predisposition of Wamba is truly remarkable. With that impressive height and long arms, it's no wonder that becoming an average or even a standout player seems almost second nature.
