We flew home with Hawaiian Airlines in June. We were so pleased that we were able to be on Boeing's 787 Dreamliner in FIRST CLASS!!! WOW, just WOW! My Husband and I were in the middle row and it was like a hotel room, seriously. What a treat. Even the air itself was so comfortable. You know what I mean right? On other planes the air is terrible, you get so dried out. Not to mention you freeze to death on other aircraft. And then let's talk about the flight crew - top notch in my opinion. Us folks from Hawaii have a natural ALOHA attitude and it always shows.
I’ve been waiting for this and another great job to both you and Suzanne. I have to be a little bias as I was your flight attendant in first class lol. It was such a pleasure to meet the both of you and I hope to see you on many more of our flights and exciting new destinations on this beautiful plane. All the best and continued safe travels Mahalo Nui…your friend and fan, Kaleo
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your awesome and memorable service! It’s so clear you love what you do and rightly take pride in the remarkable Hawaiian product! Mahalo!
I flew Hawaiian economy class last year from the big island to LAX (I believe we took Alaskan to get to Hawai'i??) and it was so nice. The fun part about the Hilo airport is it's mostly outdoors, so we got to walk from the gate to the tarmac, and THEN onto the plane!
@@Brent-Tanabe Ah, I was gonna say the same with Kona. I'd like to try Hilo sometime to see it as we stay on that side of the Big Island every time. But I love the drive all around and across so Kona is fine...
I’ve been waiting for you to do a video with Hawaiian Airlines for so long! They are my favorite US airline. The crew has never not been amazing and the seats are extremely comfortable
I am a Bay Area resident and regularly fly the SFO-HNL route. Thank you for this video. I typically seek out United 777-300ER flights on that route that have Polaris Business Class seating but recently United has only been offering it on one flight/day each way. Good to see Hawaiian is offering a competitive alternative.
Hi Jeb, I was just thinking about the other day how much you and your videos have encouraged me, especially since Jeb extremely kindly took his time to answer some questions for a school project during covid. :)
These'll be nice when they make it out east to the New York/Boston flights to and from Hawaii. 1st class would definitely be a nice touch for a 9+hr flight. My only criticism is that the seats don't alternate configuration every row like they do on UA Polaris. Aside from there being no true window seats, saying the two middle seats are for couples when they both face away from each other is a bit odd lol.
Aloha! We were just in Kauai last week and can now say that ALL a321Neos from Hawaiian airline have ultra super speed satellite STARLINK WIFI for FREE! It's truly a gamechanger and really helped time go by. We flew extra comfort both ways and had a great experience (our 3rd with Hawaiian from Oakland) We've never done a widebody so we'll have to try the dreamliner or the A330. Mahalo for your review and wow those clips from takeoff from Honolulu were absolutely breathtaking.
Another amazing video from Jeb and Suzanne (sp?)! Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos for us to enjoy! I still say Jeb needs his own Travel Channel show! I love his presentation and I think he deserves his own show!!
Yes, the A330 is not the best looking plane but loved the 2-4-2 configuration, especially as a solo traveller and selecting seats on the window sides. With 787 there's always a middle. Great review!
My wife and I will be flying on a 787 Dreamliner to Paris next year. So this is a nice introduction to the plane itself. Your content is informative, down-to-earth, and you and Suzanne are so genuine. Love the content!
I've said it before I'll say it again. One of the under-rated aspects of your videos are the great shots from the air like when you were leaving Honolulu. Great videography! I love those. Thanks for taking us along. Steve R.
Hi JEB! It's Ron (from Oahu). Thanks for this Dreamliner message! You actually were staying just up the street from where Susan and I live! (Coincidence). We love all your videos. I think I have seen just about all of them over the years! Both Susan and I travel, having taken loads of your advice. I hope the Dreamliner does some "long hauls" soon! We will be flying to JFK on Hawaiian in a few weeks, but that's the 330. Our best wishes to Suzanne as well. Looking forward to more of your travels! Best Wishes!
Last November I flew First Class on Hawaiian out of JFK to Honolulu direct. I was onboard the A-330 and it was a great flight. I will be even happier when the 787 comes to NY as well.
Nice review! I had changed to United's business class suites to HNL for my monthly flights, as I didn't really like the A330 first seats on Hawaiian air, but your review is making me re-consider my choice. Thanks for the in-depth review, without any time-wasting fluff!
We flew on an Airbus 330 from Sacramento to Honolulu and sat in seats 11 H and J. These are in extra comfort and are between the bulkhead that divides 1st class from the rest of the Cabin and behind use was the bathroom. No one in front, behind or next to us. It was like having a private cabin.
As a Hawaiian Airlines first class flyer, I absolutely HATE the 1-2-1 configuration. I always choose a window seat, but I also want to sit by my husband. That's impossible on this plane. If we choose to sit together in the center section, we are actually facing about 45 degrees away from each other. The seat rows don't line up, so I can't even sit at the window and have my husband right next to me across the aisle. This plane is great for solo travelers or couples who don't mind flying together while not really being together. I prefer the last "upgraded" planes with the lie-flat seats. Not as fancy as this new plane, but better (in my opinion) for couples.
Honestly I find it more fancy compare to the old seats with less privacy and less of a luxury feel and honestly airlines usually do the 1-2-1 layout I'm sorry to hear that you don't like it but I hope you find a good seat for you and your husband:)
Would just like to say that I've always enjoyed your videos but after your wife started being in them, there is is unexplainable chemistry that makes your videos so much more.... balanced? I have flown Hawaiian's older planes from Sydney, Australia to Honolulu the San Francisco in first class. As a wheelchair user, it did look like there was space for an assisted transfer, and I definitely would have needed that remote! Thank you for making and sharing this video.
I flew Hawaiian for the 1st time in 2016 and most recently in 2023. In 2016 they served an actual tray of food to the economy section and now it’s a steamed sandwich that Holiday Inns serve as part of their breakfast menu. Food quality and their “1st class” lounge in Honolulu needs drastic improvement.
The best people on TH-cam to review this new product! I hope that Hawaiian begin to fly to Melbourne as currently only Jetstar operates the route which is gruelling
I love Hawaii, and I love Hawaiian. I have nothing but total respect for the airline and seeing the addition of a Dreamliner makes me feel way more inclined to go to Hawaii again sometime soon
I’m flying to the Big Island in October and was really hoping to check out first class on the new aircraft, but couldn’t justify the $2000.00 one way price tag. Definitely planning to save up for it next time.
It's a great video! The Dreamliner is my favorite airplane, and I have been lucky enough to do first class flights in Dreamliners a few times. You really had me excited... thinking about returning to Hawaii for another visit in one of these Hawaiian Dreamliners... up until the point where you showed the first class meal menu. That's where Hawaiian lost me. Only two entrée choices... and they truly both sound horrible to me! That right there would be enough to make me skip Hawaiian and stick with United, my airline of choice.
Nice review.. I flew to HNL from PHX on the A330 in first class and it was a nice experience.. food was good and the beer i had was very good. Maui Blonde i think.. i wouldn't mind trying the 787 next time.. POG juice on the interisland flight from HNL to KOA and back was good.. the sunrise was amazing to see
I flew Hawaiian First from LAX- KOA last summer (thanks upgrade bid!) and absolutely loved those salt and pepper Hawaiian Shirts that they put them in. SO FREAKING CUTE! 🤩
How did you get the bid for the upgrade? I'm planning on going next summer and would love to know how you did it! How much did you bid? How soon do you know if you got it? Is it a guarantee you'll get it?
@@stephaniecrothers8482 So it's not a guarantee but closer to when your flight departs (at least on Hawaiian Airlines) you should get an email offering an upgrade bit to first- you follow the link and then have the option to give a price amount- I said $250 but I've heard of people literally putting in for $25 and getting it.
I love the A330 trips I've taken from Boston. What I don't love is the lack of a REAL Premium Economy and only 1st class besides. Prices for economy can be very affordable at certain times of the year, I just wish there were options to spend a little bit more to get a better seat. I also don't love all the seats that you have to pay more for to choose ahead of time. Tip to those looking at Delta from BOS to HNL, all of Delta economy is grouped together(minus Comfort+ and exit row seats). I saw you could choose bulkhead economy seats for nothing extra on their 767s. I'd be so into that...
05:40 from the looks of it the "Honeymoon" Seat are reclinable too (or not?) which is great thought from the airline, for in many cases the last rows pay the price yet end up being on an non-reclinable position due to the cabin separation wall.
Saw the 787 in Brisbane a week before it entered official service, at first it was thought Hawaiian might be resuming flights to Brisbane but nope just a long distance proving flight. But still nice to see here in Australia.
Former co-worker did JFK to Honolulu for his honeymoon. Loved the islands (they spent two weeks hopping around), but hated the flight time getting there and getting home.
Another great video. Love Jeb and Suzanne - always upbeat and fun whatever the situation and also fair in their assessments. First class looked very solid to me. Economy looked fine for a daytime flight. I guess some lounge availability is a plus given that almost all American domestic First doesn't have this (Alaska being an exception).
Please explain why US airlines call business class first class. The Comfort Plus seat I saw you guys in did not appear to me to be anything like Premium Economy. I like all your videos. I'm glad when you are both together as you balance each very well. Bless.
San Francisco looks beautiful from the air, a must do bucket list for the future., thanks for your trip report full comparison / Jeb's score is awesome 👍🛫
Loved all the vibrant colors to really fit in with the Hawaiian theme. Very inviting cabin. The 1-2-1 first class layout is nice. Loved the Hawaiian shirts :)
Jeb - I have flown this plane to HNL in first class and I mostly agree with you. There are two flawed design items in the 'cubes' - one we agree on and one not. I agree that the foot rest area is tiny, good luck if you are a side sleeper - although you can sleep with knees bent, there is plenty of room for that. The major ball-drop is storage space - there is none and a sign on the cube wall says - 'no storage for taxiing, take-off and landing'. The tiny cupboard that you mentioned where the Hawaiian headphones are stored holds virtually nothing. Most of the seats in the main cabin have more storage - under the seat in front. Certainly the overhead storage in first class are massive, so that helps. Overall it is a great cabin - and plan to enjoy it whilst they still have it on my PHX to HNL route.
The 787 is one of my faves. It's Hoe-Noe-Lew-Lew BTW not Ha-Na-Lew-Lew. As a HNL native that always bothers me slightly. As long as you spend plenty, plenty money while on the rock, no one else will care. Still yet, you'll surprise the locals when you pronounce it correctly. You two got me traveling Amtrak. It's a wonderful experience. I've seen all of the western mainland this way. It's amazing how entertaining looking out the windows can be. On to the east and then Canada! Hope to see you one day.
Great video Jeb! And I honestly had to do a double take on the thumbnail after seeing you out of the ‘Jeb uniform’ :-) Looking good too. The juxtaposition from 2021 is pretty evident. Your face is a lot leaner now! Keep it up! Also, I spotted another grail of mine (I think). Is that the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavor in lime green? What a stunning watch, pairing well with your outfit and the tropical destination!
@@GreenerGrass Petition for Jeb to start a watch review channel! It is evident that your passion for watches is as intense as your passion for travel. Even if your watch channel is half as good as your travel channel, you’ll be one of the best watch TH-camrs!
Thank you so much for another great video with your trip to Hawaii and back. Love you both very much and safe travels! God bless you both and your families!
@@GreenerGrass Loved your Cape Air flight from Boston to Bar Harbor too. Logan is my local airport so I'm always giddy when travelers fly out of it. A shame you missed the unique experience of Tailwind Air: a seaplane from Boston to NYC.
02:05 IFE is a big component they missed on their A321neos. Given the range factor they could have used it for some long haul flights, without any hesitation. But retrofit is always an option albeit costly.
I remember when the first Hawaiian B787 landed in Brisbane, Australia, a few months ago. Interestingly, it was the first airport the Hawaiian Dreamliner went to outside of North America/Hawaii. It was one of the most anticipated arrivals for quite a while in Brisbane.
Love the videos! Is it possible to include both of your heights and or shoulder measurements- helps us understand better when you say how spacious or tight the lay down space is. Thanks
I’m excited about the new planes. I flew first class to Honolulu out of SFO back in October on the older plane. It was comfortable but man those new window seats are calling my name.
For tourists coming to Hawaii: if you want to stick out don’t wear an Aloha shirt, if you wanna stick out more wear an Aloha shirt. Locals also don’t really say Aloha or Mahalo. Some people suck but most will be happy to help you if you’re respectful!
Love the watch. H. Moser & Cie are grail watches for me. So cool. I know this is a travel channel but it seems you have a stellar watch collection too.
Jeb and Susan thank you both so much for this review. I have always wanted to fly Hawaiian Airlines but where I live they do not fly out of any of the airports near me. And if my family plan on going to Hawaii next Christmas we really want to try this airline. And Jeb I want to use your advice about the flying the red eye since that seems to be what we always fly when we come home. I hope to figure out away to try Hawaiian Airlines so that my family and I can travel in comfort. Travel safe you two!😊✈️
Jeb, you mentioned you didn't like the Hawaiian headphones and used your own. What are you using these days? I know you loved your Bose ones, but they broke.
I really enjoy your channel. You and your wife are so charming and down to Earth. The best part of course is all the information you provide. Detailed and fair. My compliments for a fine evaluation (as usual). BTW, this review is especially helpful for me. I have been traveling to Hawaii for business purposes since the late 1980’s. I flew Delta exclusively (back in the good old days when points actually had realistic value), but starting about 15 years ago, I now only use Hawaiian Airlines. My wife has significant back issues, so when she accompanies me we fly First Class as the A-330 has lie flat seats. Glad to find out there are lie flat seats on their 787. Looking forward to all your upcoming videos! Thanks again.
Hawaiian airlines is definitely worth it! My preferred carrier to Hawaii for years because the vacation starts when you board --lots of aloha spirit on the plane (good reason to wear the Aloha shirt on the flight!) More reasons to love Hawaiian is affordable fares and also nonstop flights from smaller markets like Ontario, close to my home. Nice to see a good Jeb score for Hawaiian.
Awesome review, mate! What did u think of the new HA safety video? Sad that HA didn't continue the star constellation ceiling and power outlets in economy 😫
Years ago, We flew in Economy from Phoenix to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines, and were duly impressed with the service and the seat comfort. We, too, were surprised to have received a complimentary meal in Economy seating! 🤩. They will be my first choice for our next trip there, if there is one. Side note: I also enjoyed the adorable little Airbus/Boeing 717 “puddle jumper” from Oahu to Kona.
Loved this review and can't wait to fly a Dreamliner to HNL! I live in San Diego and just got back from Maui last Friday. I always fly the A330 from SAN>HNL>OGG because it's the larger plane and the only route with the lie down seats. I don't think the Dreamliner is coming to San Diego soon so I may just fly to LA or SFO to get it!

"Babe wake up, Jeb Brooks posted a new video" 🎉
No, go back to sleep, honey
Does JEB stand for Jetting Everywhere Buddy?
HOPING HA will add BOS-HNL on the 787 any idea on when?
05:40 from the looks of it the "Honeymoon" Seat are reclinable too (or not?) which is great thought from the airline, for in many cases the last rows pay the price yet end up being on an non-reclinable position due to the cabin separation wall.
Having the west wing on the ife is an immediate sale
Having flown both their A330 and 787 in First, the 787 is definitely an upgrade. :D
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Having" not "haven."
The Airbus A350 would be a much better choice. Thank You Delta.
Loved this video! Fun and informative, thank you guys 😊!
Great vlog as always! HNL is on my bucket list. Keep up the good work. Be safe!
Do the doors of the plane stay on or do they fall off in flight??
Great video review again, thanks! The new A330neo that I found was surprisingly quite compare B787s, definitely not the old A330s.
Can you do a video on the HawaiianAlaska air merger and how that affects us who use Hawaiian on the regular? Mahalo!
1:39, Seoul, Sydney, Austin, JFK and Boston.
Watch selection on point as always. Thanks for a wonderful review!
You’re right about the Moser! Seemed like a very “tropical” watch for this trip!!
I still love your video taking the longest US domestic flight on Hawaiian.
Thanks for being a viewer for so long! That was a great flight!
Looking trim there Jeb! Nice work!! Great review....not sure if it was worth $900 each on the return.
Ouch. $900. That’s a lot of fun in Hawaii
Thanks
Their staff is definitely a step above the rest and really showcase the Aloha spirit. Love the Hawaiian shirt, very much in character Jeb 😂
SF airport surprised me with how nice it was when I had a connection through there to LAX.Would connect again lol
Hello there, I’m going to Hawaii on June 24-30 with my family for a vacation! Great video! 🌺🌺🌴
I’m excited about the new planes. I flew first class to Honolulu out of SFO back in October on the older plane. It was comfortable but man those new window seats are calling my name.
Really liked this video jeb! Have a good day!
For tourists coming to Hawaii: if you want to stick out don’t wear an Aloha shirt, if you wanna stick out more wear an Aloha shirt. Locals also don’t really say Aloha or Mahalo. Some people suck but most will be happy to help you if you’re respectful!
Which type of gear you use when traveling??, for example noise canceling earphones/headphones,etc.
Great memory! Suzanne found a pair of “New, Old Stock” QC20’s for sale on eBay and we picked them up!!
Awesome video. ❤❤❤. I enjoyed my trip with you to Hawaii. I'll never get to go so I appreciate you sharing this with us. Safe travels! 😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Roses are expensive, violets are rare, Jeb is a keeper as Suzanne is aware!
