Thank you so much Daria, yours are the most useful tips I ever got. I've started applying them to studies by Czerny and Burgmüller. In most cases I get the right movements straight away. Now I'm eager to see you dealing with scales and arpeggios. 😇
Oh, that makes me so happy to read your comment! I am very glad my videos can be so helpful to you! Best of luck with the scales and arpeggios:) thank you for your feedback!🙏
Thank you Daria. I bought this book avout three months ago, following your recommendation. I feel that I need your instructions to practise the exercises correctly and achieve the desired results, so I will view any material you produce on the Russian Method. You are a very good teacher and love to follow your chanel! Have a good year, stay safe.
Happy new year Daria 🎉 You are amazing teacher 😮 Thank you very much for this wrist exercises video ❤ I'd like to view more videos covering Conus book topics... 😊
This video is so timely for me. In my six years of piano lessons (starting at age 59 at a junior college) wrist technique was never discussed. Maybe it is because piano lessons are usually developed for children who have not yet developed bad habits in finger, wrist, and arm movements (I was a computer engineer for 25 years). I heard the mantra “You will figure it out” and/or “It will come naturally in time” a lot! But in my experience, this is not true when it comes to adult students. Without the knowledge of proper wrist technology early in piano lessons, tension in the fingers just gets worst due to increased complexity for the music and increase of speed that the music demands. In my six years of lessons, I have spent half that time with injuries that limited my practice time. Maybe piano teachers just figure that adult will quit at the first injury, so why bother spending more time with them. But I am living proof that not only am I more motivated than most younger students, I control my time and finances- I like to think I am the prefect student for piano. I currently take private lessons with a certified teacher willing to take on an adult but I find I still need to be my own advocate and do my own research. Just recently I was able to say “Hey, I think the reason I can’t play that passage at the speed indicated is because my wrists are stiff and I am using arm movement instead.” My teacher (a lovely person and a great pianist who started playing at 6) played the piece herself and said “you know, I never thought of that but you are right - I play that with my wrists.” This open up a whole new dialogue between us. Thank you for this video, I will share it with my teacher.
I find some piano school teachers can get in a rut of pushing kids up through the grades to please the parents and they don't seem to bother with technique as long as it's good enough for the exam. When our son took piano lessons we made it clear that we were going to judge progress by how much fun he had and how expressively he played. We were also lucky to find a teacher who understood that.
Same. I am 42 and trying to learn in a healthy way. I have needed to slow my teacher down and let her know that I am happy to take the time to learn relaxed technique! Many adult learners just want to steamroll to difficult pieces because of vanity, but I enjoy taking my time.
Hi Daria. Happy new year. Thanks for all the lessons. With your inspirationI started playing again, it's soooo good. But I don't like the new hair, ha ha.(But you are still gorgeous..)
I'm following along with you in the blue book and to ask if you're making a follow-up video for after pp. 15-17 in the future? Unless you already have and I'm not seeing it. I'm getting a lot from your free videos as I'm a visual learner. Having the book is a great tool but it's not enough to learn correctly. Thank You.
Dear Stephen, Thank you very much for the message, I am glad my videos are helpful! I'm in the midst of the last 2 weeks of school, so it's very busy at the moment. But I am hoping to resume the video series early May! Stay tuned! Thank you for watching!🙏
Hello Salvatore, thank you for your comment and question! Yes, I do give lessons online, and I'm currently looking to take one or two new students, as my summer is more open.:) Feel free to message me on Instagram @dariafortepiano. If this is not an option, you can also email me at tennikova@wisc.edu. Best, Daria
@@Dariafortepiano that’s a great news… thank u very much. I would love to know more so that we could start. Anyway we could exchange cell numbers and discuss?
Try the extension exercises . It's chapter 2 in the same book. It will help you extend reach between each finger pair, but don't overdo it by practicing a lot right away. Just each exercise once a day. :) flexibility of the fingers just like any other body parts takes time to develop. so be patient but consistent.
I want you to know I am very appreciative of the effort you make to help us aspiring pianist. I want to learn to play piano and not just learn some music I like which is why I chose your channel on you tube. Thank you so much.@@Dariafortepiano

I tried some of the cords in exercise 4 page 17 and was not able to do them. Do you know good exercises to increase reach?
