I should probably add that I have people do it for me plus my car is annoying because the rims I have have like 5 layers of rim be fire getting to the bolts but still
I don't think it's that unrealistic. I believe it cost me around close to that to replace 4 x tyres/wheels of 2008 Kia Sedona, + labor + vehicle tow + parts and they were probably the only mechanics in town
I work in a Walmart TLE and I'm about to download this. I don't know what's worse, that I have a job doing this or that I'm going to choose to spend some of my free time doing this as well.
It might seem odd having the engine stand without having the crane to lift engines in and out, but that's because you still have the option of going the long way round - taking the entire bumper and other front-end body parts off to expose the engine in the frame, attaching the stand to it, undoing the engine supports and wheeling it out of the front...
On old vehicles, especially heavy trucks one side was right hand threads and the other side was left hand threads for the lug nuts and the axle attachment. It has been decades since I saw those, but the theory was the nuts and bolts were tightening themselves as the wheels rotated. Anyways, this is another game I am looking forward to watching you play this game, but I would not really want to play it myself. Looks like an interesting game for teaching kids basics of car maintenance and learn advanced theory at least. Oil filters are often taken apart to look for metal, it is correct. Jolly good show old chap.
The lug nuts on the car turning in opposite directions from the other side might not be a bug it might be proper because one of my cars has it where one side of the car has an R and the nuts turn to the right to remove the other side of the car has an L and the nuts turn to the left to remove
Hey Squirrel dude just a heads up. Bolts on cars can be left and right hand thread. Japanese cars/trucks are prime for doing it left hand on one wheel and right hand on the other. Keep up the amazing work as usual though dude.
just a tip: filling the oil isn't guessing. When the bottle lowers, you're fine (~50%, ~6 secs) p.s.: if you found 2015 grindy, this is a nightmare. You have to be lvl 35 to be able to fully restore a car (body and paint), I've already played 20 hrs, and only reached 15 (twice, first time it's bugged)
Squirrel, I know it might sound a bit stupid but the grind is a lot better in this game then it was last game, Not only do you have barn finds but you also have a junkyard to help you get parts for cheaper, And at the same time as doing jobs you can just go get a barn find or go to the junkyard, Buy a project car and leave it until you have money, Fix it and sell it, Until you've leveled up enough and basically finished the game
+Squirrel the oil fill is not a guessing game, the moment the bottle lowers a little by itself while still pouring, there is enough fluid in the engine, just like in the previous game
Read the videos description and had to laugh for quite a while as I thought to myself you will repair cars, recover barn wrecks and attend auctions eventually when they eventually fix the game and all the bugs so you can actually play those elements.
Thanks for this and follow-up play-through videos. Comprehensible walk-through with an easy on the ear voice and good explanation of what's what, except you have a tendency to overlook timed jobs that are about to expire. The Wankel/rotary engined car keeps getting pushed back and disappears, but it gets a new entry after a while, to be forgotten about again. Cheers.
I’m super into cars and I’m going to trade school to be an Automotive Technician, and when I saw this game recently, I thought this was the coolest shit ever and I have to get this. This is gonna be my career, so I’ll probably have a lot of fun playing this.
CMS graphicfly looks insanely good and the gameplay looks like a lot of fun, you definitely feel like your a machanic working in a oily garage with that cheap radio with no bass lol I love it, keep it up squirrel! :D
Ideally the bolts are left hand or right hand thread based on the side of the vehicle they are on for optimal tightening at speed. Most regular cars do not have that because they aren't considered sport or racing application.
Its been a while since i watched squirrel my summer car mainly but i love it when he does car mechanic so funny one quote was hes been driving over speed bumps in macdoalds late at night with his mates 😂 glad to be back watching again love it keep it up Squirrel
Thanks for the vid. I never played any of these games, but I saw that the Epic Games Store will give it away for free soon, so I checked out TH-cam and your video came up first. Nice beginner walkthrough video, and very well narrated and done.
I've been watching the British GT series all this year and was getting really perplexed as to where I'd heard their intro music from - turns out it's the same track you use haha
Hey Squirrel. I been playing this too. I strongly recommend making regular backups of the save folder. A lot of bad bugs so far but a patch has been coming out almost every day addressing issues. For example i bought a car from a Barn, found out i couldn't edit or focus on the engine, exited game and i couldn't load anymore. After a lot of playing around i found out i had to delete a few files in my saves and turn off steam cloud to get my game to load. I deleted the car and was out 10k but i am able to continue playing now.
The lug bolts may not be a bug. Rolls Royse were like that until the 80s or 90s, and back in 30s a lot of cars were like that. I don't know if any car is still like that today.
FYI, skill points at level 5 is doubled (bugged) the one in the 2nd level 5 (right one) unlocks at level 7. Also, be careful of story missions, they might repeat.
Awesome Stuff. I just bought the game in the hopes of learning something. A better grasp of the game mechanics, menus and such, is just what the doctor ordered.
Pet peeve: When people call it a RIM when it's a Wheel. The RIM is only part of a Wheel. Wheels have Rims, Spokes, and Hubs. Add a Tire and you have a Wheel Assembly. Ya I spent too many years working in real garage's. Lost count how many times I replied "So just to be clear. You don't want the middle bits? Just the Rim?" when asked how much a particular set of wheels cost.
One thing they should model is when you put tires back on a vehicle you should tighten the lug nuts in a cross pattern. That's how it's done in the real world. It'd be a nice feature. Even pop up a message if a player were to do them the method shown. funny they didn't tell you to replace the oil filter. That's a must when changing oil. Perhaps that will be added later. One other thing is that you should have to add weights to the tires when balancing. Again that's real world, and can be simulated. Additionally a nice feature to the weights would be to have a screen pop up and guide you through choosing the recommended weight for the tire. One last thing, is the tires should be inflated before balancing, obviously that's not been modeled, but a nice feature to be in the game. This is far and away a better game than the originals. I'd definitely buy it once the silly bugs are worked out. The memory leak is the biggest one. Thanks for reviewing the game Squirrel. I enjoy your take, because you are an honest guy. You don't high praise a game if it is not warranted.
The most unrealistic part of this game is that you start off your mechanic career already having a shop of your own, lol, would be neat if you had to start in your home garage repairing neighbors and friends cars
Great explanation and walkthrough. I guess you need to be into cars for this game to really click with the player, but you made the playing perfectly clear. Helped if I give the game a second chance. Thank you.
They should put in the game mobile mechanic and fixing cars broken down on the road. Maybe able to purchase it if your speech skill is high on it. Make the movement smoother. Custom the garage look to it. On how you want it. Have better tutorial on how fix cars better. Flipping cars to get further in the game. Finding super rare cars to work on.
Paul I'm pretty sure that you do not put fuel where oil is supposed to go CUZ its probably gonna blow up the engine and that would drive you nuts (no pun intended)
I'm looking forward to this. I liked CM2015 quite a bit! It looks really, really, really similar so far. Like new environment/rendering over the same game. The parts separation bit is new. But everything else looks like a re skin so far.
There should be a feature where you have to reason with an obnoxious customer. Like say you do a job to perfect spec but they insist there is a problem and you have to calm them down or argue with them.
3 spins?! 3 WHOLE SPINS TO BALANCE A FREAKING WHEEL?!?! Wow, that "AI" really doesnt know how to be efficient as well sure that the wheel is balance. I mean I might be faster then that, as it isnt how I had learned it. I had learned it like this: Set the balancer to either steel rim or alu rim, and get the measurement of the wheel. Get it to spin, and see what it says. Put the balance on and get it to spin the wheel again. If all go well: bingo-bango, 0 on the inside and 0 on the outside, wheel balanced. Get it off and put it ready to be mounted on the car, on to the next wheel. The only time I might need to spin it 3 times is when it want more, or if I shall check the balance of a wheel (If the balancer what the wheel balanced again, even if it has weights on) With a tire change it is a minimum two spins par wheel at the most times. The reason is, when you change the tire, then the wheel will always be unbalance (In theory it might not be, but always have that in mind) and you also need to take the old weights off (if the wheel have any) before you begin to change the tire. I really dont ask much for a game, but please let it be some what realistic
Can you simulate losing the 10 mm socket and cussing for about 30 minutes while trying to find it?
@Abdiel Jaxen bots pog
Lmao just add in trying to use a 1/4-inch standard socket by putting it on slightly crooked and now that's some realism right there.
And then you realise its in your hand lol
Play wrench. That will do it
☠️☠️☠️ lmfao
I'm glad someone explained all this because the game doesnt explain a damn thing
Really? Over $2000 Dollars to replace four tyres? I won't be bringing my car to your garage anytime soon Mr Squirrel.
CWATTYESOGamingForFun drain the oil AIR filter fuel filter price of tires. Soo
how the fuck does that add up to 2 grand
I mean that’s close 400 dollars a tire that leaves 1600 dollars and that’s for my car witch is a Nissan z350 2007 model so not to far off
I should probably add that I have people do it for me plus my car is annoying because the rims I have have like 5 layers of rim be fire getting to the bolts but still
I don't think it's that unrealistic.

It drives me nuts (no pun intended) when people dont tighten in a cross patern
Personally it drives me nuts that bolts tighten anti-clockwise.
Squirrel
LOL That too
But it doesn't matter in the game and it's faster not to, so...
actually its a lot faster to tighten the lock nuts in a cross pattern, watch Nascar pit crews
in real life they do it since it straightens the wheel. In a game it's not at all faster. But you're right, in real life they do
I like the educational benefits of the game
Tip to avoid the oil filling guessing game, the bottle tips itself backward when it's filled halfway between min and max.

Yeah, same
Where do you buy it for a pc/laptop
YT mackygaming 550 McChesney You can buy it on steam
imwellshook and Xbox I’m playing it rn
damn Christmas was really 9 months ago
Sometimes IRL, some vehicle manufacturers have multi-directional nuts on wheels, mainly on buses...
that computer menu looks like a gta 5 shops
What
Hey
The sound is the same too😀
Go outside please

Monke smart
Thank you for this! The "tutorial" they included was not very obvious at all.
Just finished watching graystillplays' car mechanic simulator and I turned and see squirrel having a video!
Bruh if it wasn't for this video I wouldn't have even been able to get the car over to the lift haha
14:18 The wheel bolts on old cars were actually threaded that way, so that they wouldn't come loose when you were driving.
If I remember rightly that is the same for trucks
Changing oil without changing oil filter? This game is hilarious :D

i Cannot wait for the next episode of car mechanic sim 18, please do a lets play sorta thing like you did with car mechanic sim 14

Wow they took this to another level.

I work in a workshop like this, and I wish everything was as easy as it is here =D

I have got this game, when it’s Black Friday sale on Steam, this game is so great, it’s kind of a roleplay.
Mate this was a better tutorial than the game produced.
Read the videos description and had to laugh for quite a while as I thought to myself you will repair cars, recover barn wrecks and attend auctions eventually when they eventually fix the game and all the bugs so you can actually play those elements.
So happy this is starting again

In all honesty, I found the shop in CMS2015's brighter atmosphere, and just general openness to be more of my liking.
Ya! You never took auto shop in school. Use a star pattern when tightening lug nuts. Hey! Just goofing with ya., but true.

Who changes the oil without changing the filter? -everyone who has ever worked on a car
Super Vitz I’m 12 but my uncle would rage sooooooo bad if he saw some one do that

What? Literally the most important part of the oil change is getting a new filter on there

So basically this is Car Mechanic from Forza Simulator.
Personally Id like there to be a torque wrench tool and every nut and bolt needs to be torqued to spec for each car. I hope that becomes a mod, lol
Nice video bud. As for the wheels, there is some cars that do unscrew clockwise on the one side :)
If you guys saw the stream it was shaky 'From squirrel'. I didn't see it he said it was shaky incase you didn't know.

I don't know about Europe, but in North America, where I live in Canada, your supposed to make sure you tighten the lug nuts in a cross pattern..
