Never been a huge fan of Dylan's voice or instrumentation, however i do still think he might be the best Lyricist/Songwriter of all time and Jeff really turns his songs into something special imo
Sometimes time passes and you temporarily forget just how brilliant someone was - came here as I've always been a fan of Jeff Buckley and was fortunate enough to have seen him live in perhaps the best show I've ever seen , but for some reason I wasn't expecting too much here, and certainly wasn't expecting to be blown away by the tenderness of this performance . Absolutely beautiful .
How can i be so in love with a man, I never met? I carry him around in my heart, he's with me every where I go. Jeff's beautiful angelic voice sends me to places I want to stay forever.
+alicia mcmillan He had a great ability to project feelings and therefor so easy to fall in love with. You are indeed in love with a man you have never met, but still it is not him you love, it's your image of him. And maybe that is to be said in all cases of love. We form people in our heads all the time, adding and removing. Everything we knows about someone, observed or imagined, is still only in our minds. Still that dosn't make the love you, or anyone else, feels unreal. Love is always real. Tha'ts what I belive anyway. :)
+alicia mcmillan You put my thoughts into words. He was/is such a beautiful, complex, infinite soul. His music and voice has moved so many people. I think there are many who must feel this way. It is amazing how connected we can feel to people we have never met or those not currently living in this particular human experience.
one night , my daughter came rushing in and said , “ you have to listen to this “ … my partner and I listened and the tears flowed . I pledged that song to her… she is no longer here…but every time I here this , she’s right next to me 💔
That guitar is tuned just right and the pace makes you listen at first to see how it will sound. My favorite singer and his guitar work is everlasting.
His voice and guitar ability, whilst exceptional, usually take the forefront when discussing Jeff, but for me it’s his compositional working of other people’s songs that was the most astonishing. To take tracks such as this and Hallelujah and turn them into deeply personal introverted and delicate pieces is miraculous. He also showed that the electric guitar, ostensibly a lively and energetic instrument, could be wielded to gentle, melancholic perfection.
His covers are always on point. I hope people have actually heard "Grace" and not think fam just does covers all the time and that he's actually a great songwriter too. Rest in Peace.
After 18 hour long day , came home , took a shower and layed down on my bed. As soon as I have put my body to rest I felt this instant relief and Jeff does that same thing to my soul. Curled up , Jeff is played and thinking about her. His beautiful voice carries me around like a feather . Makes me feel worthy of sharing love and good .It's been painfull 4 years since I'm aware of her existence and my oh my I can't get her out my mind. There are special times only for Jeff , I can't handle him at certain points , something ethereal about him makes him divine .If he ... may his precious soul rest at peace ... lived for another 10 years , he would've gone down as at the greatest musician of all times without a doubt. Good night my friends and may you all find peace in what this angel shared with us.
everytime I listen to Jeff again...(sometimes I stop listening for a while)..everytime I return to him, its like he melts my heart, his voice and music touches my soul so deeply. Thank you Jeff for evrything you left us
exhaleDM no words can describe them. I was gonna say they are absolute magic but that doesn’t even give them Nearly enough credit. He was just a god send.
He was taken too early.. and he died a sudden death.. no drugs or suicidal intent.. the man died swimming and singing Led Zeppelin.. RIP Jeff, we miss you..
He was singing Led Zeppelin while he was swimming just before he drowned. No drugs or alcohol were found in his system. He was pulled under by the undertow of a passing boat. This was in Memphis.
+Justin Wilson I think you misunderstood what I was saying no to. I was saying no to the fact that he was drunk. Being a huge Buckley fan, I, too, know all the details.
I grew up listening to this man never actually knowing the meaning behind the music or even understanding what he was saying, but the mood and tone of any of his music transcends words, its a interactive emotion that all people can groove and sympathize to.
I'm so glad these recordings were released as is, without adding in other musicians or trying to tamper with Buckley's output. They are sublime as is and are pure Jeff. I'm impressed with the new album.
I love when a person has a gift and everyone knows exactly what they were put here to do...and they do it!!! Jeff Buckley was put here to play a guitar and sing for all of us to hear. You maybe the most talented person I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Hallelujah is to me and many many others the number one song ever....
When I heard this song by Bob Dylan I loved it but i always thought the lyrics need a really sad slow melody to it. I wanted to really feel those lyrics. Then I found Jeff's version and I couldn't believe it! He did exactly what I was searching for... for me the lyrics are so sad and in this version you really understand them and feel them deep in your heart. Thank you Jeff
I had this album on and I just laid on my bed with my eyes closed, something I haven't done in a while to music. And damn, it was one of the best feelings I've had in a while. Thank you Jeff! RIP
Jeff has made such an impact in my life. Every single song he has ever written can make me cry of both sadness and happiness. His voice is so beautiful and haunting. I have never been more in love with a man, although he may not physically be with us. His spirit will always be among us, he will forever be missed.
And this was a just a demo too. Can you imagine what he would've done with this as a finished song? Could've turned out to be a true masterpiece. Sadly, the world will never know. As it stands, it is a masterpiece in its own right. Stuns my soul.
message to all men including myself. be good to your woman, treat her right, give her safety protection respect and pleasure. your world beholds beautiful things.
I sent this to my husband. Right after I had to walk out of our house. Your comment (with credit), This song, and a copy of Grace (I had 2). He never liked my music. As a result, 'Lover You Should've Come Over' is his, "anthem of agony". *It is your comment that made me decide I needed to introduce Jeff Buckley into his life.* Thank you.

Jeff Lives. Every time I've listened to Bowie in past year, I thought of Jeff. Swear. So I double mourned for the past few days. Will we have genius like those two ever again? Jeff being a genius of emotional-spiritual expression & Bowie a genius of just about everything.
You ever find out something about someone? Someone you know so well, but then it just changes you. Not how you feel about them but just changes how you understand them. Thats what this song makes me remember. That feeling of total ignorance and renaissance.
this is no doubt in anybody's mind that this man's genius and natural talent as well as his personality was most definitively taken from us way before his time coming

I’ll do both

I knew Jeff . He was the guitar tech for my metal band Knightriot in 1989. He was destined for greatness , a burden he didn’t ask for.
How talented was he with guitars? Full set ups? Sodering?
Did he ever play anything for you guys??? What was he like??? I'd love to learn more about that part of his career
What a well said comment
Bob’s songwriting abilities are exceptional but Jeff helps bring this song to life.

No matter how talented the original artist, Jeff made every song he sang his own, raw talent, sorely missed

The Original is a master piece but this version of Jeff Buckley is dearest to the heart.

Bob Dylan’s version is more bitten and angry, while this version sounds sad and emotionally painful in the most beautiful way
I wouldn’t say Dylan’s sounded angry, to me it sounded like walking through a beautiful life, this version is more sitting in a sad room

Just Like a Woman (Bob Dylan)
Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Ev’rybody knows
That Baby’s got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl
Queen Mary
She’s my friend
Yes, I believe I’ll go see her again
Nobody has to guess
That Baby can’t be blessed
Till she sees finally that she’s like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls
She takes just like a woman, yes
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl
It was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what’s worse
Is this pain in here
I can’t stay in here
Ain’t it clear that
I just can’t fit
Yes, I believe it’s time for us to quit
But when we meet again
Introduced as friends
Please don’t let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world
Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do
You make love just like a woman, yes, you do
Then you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl
thank u for posting this for some reason the description has the wrong ones and they're way off lol
