Everytime I hear this man sing something inside me dies. He makes me feel out of this world for a moment. My favorite of his works is "lover you should have come over" it's so overwhelming that I have to pause the song and come back later to listen to it again. I wish he was alive. I hope he is happy where he is.
+Weep G. same.... i had a really overwhelming day and i came home and closed my eyes and turned on jeff. listening to him kinda washed the stress away... looking at him doesn't hurt either tho. 😇
I know a life is more important than anything but I can't help but feel bummed out when I think about all the Jeff Buckley albums we missed out on with his untimely passing. Truly one of the most unique talents to come around.
That is incredible about your birthdate! Did your parents know his music or see him perform live? Did they realise the connection and tell you about Jeff when you were growing up or did you find out about him yourself after discovering the magical music? Just curious :)
aronora I wouldn't dream of it :) thanks for that spirited comment but I was referring to the fact that she had written in a previous comment that she was born on the very day Jeff died in 1997 which is why I wrote that. I think I answered her on this comment because there were already a few people on the other one discussing something else. Hopefully my comment makes more sense now but she will probably know what I meant because she has a special connection to Jeff. Imagine the mixed feelings her mum and dad would have had if they were big fans of his at the time. I clearly remember where I was when I heard he was missing feared drowned it was obvious that he was already gone.
+John Arundell Hi! to answer some of your questions, my parents of course knew of Jeff, my dad was a pretty big fan but never saw him live. Honestly I found out more about Jeff and really got into his music around 8 or 9 which was crazy me being so young but I just had this strange connection to his music. It just increased as I got older and got to understand more about him and he has been my favorite musician, vocalist, and lyricist of all time since then. It kills me everyday that I will never have the opportunity to see him live or meet him but unfortunately that's life and I'm just grateful that his music is still out there and being remembered because that's what he would of wanted.
aronora couldn't agree more with you. Thanks for the thoughtful comment and sticking up for us young folk with real taste lol (: I usually get ridiculed all the time with "you weren't even born" or "you're too young" when it comes to the music I listen to so I'm glad there are others out there that are in my position with the ability to find music on their own.
aronora I know young people are the future of course! Your mum is a good example that Jeff wasn't really very well known (not hugely famous) right around the world when he was recording and touring for the few years of his career that he was so active and prolific. He was a big star in some places like France and Australia which is where I saw him in one of his last proper concerts in February1996 and parts of USA, Europe and Japan but that's all. He was a bit under the radar just doing his thing with full commitment obviously and without compromise. Artists of the highest quality always stand the test of time so Jeff will never be forgotten forever now :) hopefully more high quality live performances will be released yet because this new album would have to be about it from the vaults insofar as studio recordings go.
It's unbelievable how this differs from Grace. As if the pressure for a follow up was gone and made way to just play. That same spirit of live at Sin-é is dancing on this track and I'm happy.
It breaks my heart to even think I will never see Jeff live. He was an amazing artist and a beautiful, beautiful soul. It is rather unfair that I don't even get the chance to meet the person who changed me in so many different ways. I feel like crying any time I think about this. I truly admire and appreciate the fact that someone like him ever existed. I am just unfortunate that that someone died exactly the year I was born. It is kind of funny how ironic, cruel and amazing life can be.
+lizmies12 aw i kinda want to ask u more about what he was like..what a pleasure lucky u :). he will live on as long as his music and works are loved and appreciated
Thank you so much. Glad you found this and shared it with us! Gosh I didn't know I could love him anymore than I already did. He was so lively in this!
I saw him for the first time at Uncommon Ground in Chicago. He was touring around with just his Telecaster, preparing for the release of "Grace". He played in front of a pastry case. Standing room only. During intermission I took a bathroom break. When I got out, next in line was Jeff. "How's it goin?"...The truth. I don't care what anyone says, contemporary music has never been the same and will never be the same without him. And it really hasn't gone too far since 1997. There's been only a Few exceptions.
Looking forward to this release very much indeed, but haven't we heard Calling You, I Know It's Over, Night Flight & Grace before in one form or another? It's a shame there isn't more songs we haven't heard Jeff play before.
+Alan Priest yes! thank you. ever since Michael Tighe mentioned "Sky Blue Skin" not long after Jeff passed away, i have been desperately awaiting its release. but for reasons that baffle me, it hasn't seen the light of day. Michael called it one of the most beautiful things he's ever heard Jeff write/record. how come it hasn't been released? i really think Mary has done a lousy job managing Jeff's estate. it's starting to reek of money grab at this point.
+handsomerube I've been disappointed in the past when she's said that basically everything has been released but we all know that is not true. When they compiled things like Grace Around The World with just 1 or 2 songs from each filmed concert we obviously want all of each concert not just a tiny cross section. We want everything he ever did. Why has this taken nearly 19 years to come out? Having said that the quality of this performance is incredible as expected but again makes me want other high quality audio from soundboard recordings of concerts. What are we waiting for exactly? How about all the full concerts which were used for Mystery White Boy even if all the songs are repeated? It seems like they are afraid of 'flooding the market' or whatever. Hendrix lovers like me have never worried about that sort of thing. Come on Mary pleeeeeaaaaase :)
Also... I'm sure some peeps are gonna say that these are only 1 take demos & "What No Production Values?!?" but something is lost in that process, the finesse gets buried...Audio Verite as R. Fripp used to say.
NEW.... BUCKLEY MATERIAL. NOT "NEW" BUT UNRELEASED. I'M IN A DREAM. A FUCKING GREAT DREAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fanboying out a little too hard. Fuck it no I'm not!
He took a song I thought was alright, and made it into something spectacular. Meh, was just another average day in Jeff Buckleys world. :) To think this was just him messing about with something between takes for stuff he actually wanted to put on his album.
Still the best simple description of J. Buckley for the uninitiated is- imagine Page and Plant in one body.Much more talent than most and a work/play ethic that took it way out... simply amazing .And then he goes swimmin' w/ his boots on... Yikes...I mean wow.
+RobbieGnr1 I know man im with you and I love the original but please take into consideration that this was probably Jeff having a beer and playing a few covers for the laugh with no intention of it ever being heard outside that room but just appreciate the sheer beauty of Jeff's voice and the absolute haunting presence that hearing something previously unheard from the dude has on people R.I.P Jeff
+lastofus mcgill Apparently a few of these covers that are due to be released in March '16 were initially recorded for sending onto producers as a kind of outline for how he wanted some of his own material to sound on "Grace".
By the way, this song is quite appropriate in the midst of the hate that Donald Trump has been spewing. I don't wanna make a Jeff Buckley video political, but, I couldn't help but make that connection.
We’ll I never thought I’d see the day Jeff Buckley covered Sly and the Family Stone…love it!!!
Everytime I hear this man sing something inside me dies. He makes me feel out of this world for a moment. Lovely comment, exactly how I feel!
GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
apparently he is still releasing new songs despite the notable handicap of being dead!
+Miguel Elgueta Funny but these are just unreleased songs and demos

Tupac set the bar pretty high though
Like a lot of people i suffer Anxiety Disorder, and one of the things that soothes my soul is jeff's voice. It brings me safety. My safe heaven.
+Weep G. same.... i had a really overwhelming day and i came home and closed my eyes and turned on jeff. listening to him kinda washed the stress away... looking at him doesn't hurt either tho. 😇
Me too
Weep G. same ❤️😇

I hear you! Another great remedy of sound is:
JJ Grey & Mofro, listen to this and heal.
Peace.
Same here! ❤
I feel like he could've united the whole damn world with his music if he was around longer. this song is so inspiring
"I....I...." and my hairs all instantly stand on end.
+Jon Gomm You should do your own version of one of Jeff's songs sometime, that would be amazing!
Fell into it halfway through on the radio, my thoughts, some elder black fella doing the old Sky Stone hit on the porch.
Man, did I know !
He was amazing!
I love the "Watch out." @ 2:23.
This guy did it right. Always.
I know a life is more important than anything but I can't help but feel bummed out when I think about all the Jeff Buckley albums we missed out on with his untimely passing. Truly one of the most unique talents to come around.
I was not prepared for this.

You were truly a one of a kind artist

+mariiacafe Same here sista, atleast we can be happy we still have his music and it will never die.
ik exactly what u mean💔 jeff is one of a kind..and it's heartbreaking that we'll never get to c him again :(
I'm so with you on this..he died when I was one. His soul lives on through the music forever.
+Savannah L he died the day before I was born
+lizmies12 aw i kinda want to ask u more about what he was like..what a pleasure lucky u :). he will live on as long as his music and works are loved and appreciated

...the long hair who wont accept the short hair for being such a rich one who will not help the poor one🎵🎵
man, i can just imagine this song being used for a montage of everyday people, doing everyday things
Sly Stone would be very proud of what Buckley did, if there was a version of Time For Livin done by Buckley I want to hear it!
I'd kill a baby deer with my bare hands to hear that.
magic!

Was not expecting this at all, I'm hooked :D
Everyday, people are realizing what a major talent Jeff Buckley possessed.
Very good song
with the events in paris, the song is good
Before I realised, the tears were rolling down my cheeks...
Along with this release, the fact that they discovered hours of unreleased material from the sessions gives me hope for mankind.
Also... I'm sure some peeps are gonna say that these are only 1 take demos & "What No Production Values?!?" but something is lost in that process, the finesse gets buried...Audio Verite as R. Fripp used to say.
Does he says Scooby doby doo? xD xD
yep lol
