Wow!! What a GORGEOUS ruined Abbey and graveyard!! I can't believe how much of the Abbey is left intact!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us, Sue!! XXXX
I can only dream of living in Ireland. I’m of Irish descent. It just seems like the most peaceful place on earth. Thanks for taking us along on these amazing journeys!
@@cjmcdowell1904 It is. I'm Irish and very proud of my Country. I'm away from there right now and will return to Ireland after an extended stay in Barcelona once Covid permits. Just flying in, after time spent abroad, is a joy.
Another good one Sue. You make me chuckle, when you say I would’ve loved to get in. You are definitely a kindred spirit to Ron on faces of the forgotten. We know you’d love to get in there. At what you did show us was wonderful that place is huge. And there were a lot of readable stones so that was great.❤️🇺🇸
What a beautiful old abbey. I can only imagine what it looked like back its day with all the stained glass windows. Another treasure. Thank you Sue for sharing. 🙏🙏
This is another amazing Abbey, the details around the windows and arches are so well done. I love the stonework on the outer walls. I could imagine this was also a beautiful place in its day, so sad to see the graves and gravestones breaking up into pieces. You did a great job of reading some of those headstones, mind you it did look a bit dangerous with that uneven ground. Please take care and thank you Sue 💕🇦🇺
Beautiful old Abbey.By the looks of it the land for it would have had a dwelling house for the e priests or in the earlier times possibly monks…It’s nice to see some of the arches of the cloisters still there ,it would have lead to the house..I love how they used some of the old building and added on to it ,the front is very decorative too.The faces on the walls usually represented angels .Sometimes they would also have them carved on the wood or on stone inside the Abbeys too. (For our foreign friends ) You certainly are finding some amazing places to visit Sue .I really enjoy the adventures. But be careful in some of these not so well kept places as I don’t want you getting hurt..Love n Light 🥰
I just love the stonework of the Abbey. The skill required to build those walls was astonishing. Many words beginning with H were preceded by an, as in an hotel, an historic, an honorary, in original English. My elocution teacher taught us the "correct" usage, which will always stay with me. When she spoke, we listened. My daughter, an avid reader since age 5, has picked up on that. I like seeing the old graves and some loving tributes paid to the dead. I think I must have lived in some previous era 🤣😂
Hey Sue, another great video. This is such an amazing abbey and surrounding grounds, its history everywhere you look. The abbey itself has amazing stonework, and youre right, the one end of it is very castle-like. Such old headstones too, some very weather-beaten, n you once again did a very good job of reading them! :) You provided some interesting info re Thomas D'Arcy McGee too, Id never heard of him before, clearly he was a major figure in Irish-Canadian history. Another excellent tour, thankx again! :)
Thank you John, lovely to see you listened so closely and took in Thomas D'Arcy McGee, I'd never heard of him either, that's the brilliance of looking online for names and finding out great history and photos, I love when it happens, thanks for watching ❤️🍀🇮🇪
I missed this video but wow what a lovely graveyard and the walls of the church/abby....the stone/ colors ....breathtaking. Thanx Sue for this beautiful tour.❤😊❤😊
Glad you enjoyed it, this was so cool to get into, this is the town I go to get my shopping, never in all my lifetime have I seen it open, it was lovely to finally get in
The Irish played a huge role in the development of Canada to the country it's become now. The closest we can get to feeling Irish is to visit Newfoundland! What kind of stone was that reddish coloured stone? It is a beautiful abbey in a perfect setting. Thanks again.
Very beautiful Abby and graveyard, amazing stonework! I would love to retire to Ireland and be a caretaker for a beautiful place like that! Thank you for sharing
Oh, my goodness, that abbey is amazing!! I don't know how you managed looking at that beautiful building and not be able to enter. Do you know why or how it was destroyed? God Bless YOU!
Kidding with the seagulls. Brother and I inherited my parents home on Cape Cod. I grew up with them. I was thinking on giving you a few dollars for gas money. I went somewhere to improve membership but this old dummy can't figure it out. Ypo put on a good blob along with the hard work. I am still very impressed. Good job!
Ahh thanks, I'm not getting anything from you tube yet, it takes a long time to get everything up a running, that's very kind of you, even the membership part is not set up until youtube sends me info, I'll try maybe figure out PayPal or something, thanks so much appreciate it ❤️🍀🇮🇪 oh I knew you were messing about the seagulls 😂😂

I think it's called sandstone, great to be able get the photos 🇮🇪🍀❤️
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Thanks. Apparently Ireland has two types of sandstone, depending in which part of the country you are.
I presume with weather conditions and how open to the eliminates it is the stone will probably react in different ways ❤️

Did you get the key from the Council Office On The Bullring?
Hi Jean, yes I did, I rang before I got the key, got one for selskar and then there is a master key for the other graveyards around wexford Town
