I'm so happy to get good luck with my gaming setup because I got a kyeboard and mouse it came with a handset and a mouse mat and all of it was only 35 pounds
My Story I got my PS4 when I was nine, back in 2019. Before that, I had a PS3 and an Xbox 360, but I really wanted to play Fortnite with my friends. So, for my ninth birthday, I got a PS4 Slim. Being the oldest, with siblings who were 5 and 7 years younger, I didn’t have to share it with them. At first, I wasn’t very good at Fortnite-I just played for fun. In the city I live in, they host events like concerts, carnivals, and horse shows, but in 2019, our local e-sports team had a tent set up with Wi-Fi and PCs. That was my first time playing Fortnite on a PC and also trying out CS:GO. My friend and I went for a trial day, and I decided to start playing there. My friend already had a PC since he was a year older than me, but I kept improving on controller. Around Chapter 2, Season 1 (I started in Chapter 1, Season 8), I met a Twitch streamer at an event hosted by my e-sports team. There was a huge line to play with him, and unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance. However, I did get some free merch, including two T-shirts with his autograph (although I can’t fit into them anymore!). Later that day, as he was packing up, I saw that the PC he’d borrowed was still logged into his account, so I asked if I could play on it. He said yes and taught me his keybinds, even though I told him I’d never played on keyboard and mouse before. He walked me through the basics, and after a few games, I somehow managed to get a win! It was in Arena Champions rank, although I’ll admit, I was carried by one of his friends. After that experience, I started learning keyboard and mouse at my e-sports team’s practice sessions. By Chapter 3, I’d mastered double edits, and by Chapter 4, I could do triple edits. Even though I only played about two hours a week on keyboard and mouse (and not even every week), I was improving. I began participating in LAN events that the team hosted twice a year, running from Friday evening to Sunday evening. They held tournaments in games like CS:GO, League of Legends, Minecraft, FIFA, and Fortnite. For Fortnite duos, I’d team up with friends from school or my e-sports team. Prizes were awarded to the top three duos: 3rd place got 300 kr (~50€), 2nd place got 500 kr (~70€), and 1st place earned 1000 kr (~150€) each. I didn’t win in any of the first four LAN events I entered, but then in Chapter OG, Season OG, I came close. I played with a friend who was amazing on keyboard and mouse, while I’d become pretty good on controller. Some of my friends, who were going pro in Fortnite, were there, so the competition was tough. But as a 13-year-old who had just been allowed to play more than 2-3 hours a day, I was ready. We ended up in 2nd place, and I earned 500 kr (about 70€). I spent most of it on a new mouse and mousepad, which I still use today, and some on controller thumb grips. I also gave 10€ to a friend whose family struggles financially-he had bought me a sandwich when I didn’t have money, so I wanted to pay him back. In Chapter 5, I really started to “lock in.” I got an Apex Pro Mini keyboard with a 0.2 ms response time, which was a game-changer. I kept improving on keyboard and mouse, mastering quad edits and triple edits. By then, I’d upgraded to a PS4 Pro at my dad’s place in Germany (he’d given it to me after he got a PS5). I tried connecting my keyboard and mouse to the PS4, but the input delay was terrible, so I stuck with the controller. My PC at the time couldn’t run Fortnite at more than 10 fps-Roblox barely hit 30 fps! Then, on April 28, 2024-six days after my birthday-I had my confirmation ceremony, and my family surprised me with a new PC featuring an RTX 4070 and an Intel i7 14700KF. I also received about 2k€ in cash and a few more gifts from my family and friends (we had around 50-60 guests!). I used around 700-900€ on a 240Hz monitor that also doubles as a TV, and I even got two years of free subscriptions to Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime. After five years of playing on PS4, I finally had a real gaming PC. The first two LAN events of 2024 were canceled, but I stayed focused by grinding in creative and ranked modes. I also started playing CS2 but returned to Fortnite near the end of Season 4, Chapter 5, to compete in some cups, almost earning a prize. I’ve been told the next LAN event will be in January or February, with a prize pool larger than ever: 5th place gets 100€, 4th place gets 250€, 3rd place gets 500€, 2nd place gets 700€, and 1st place takes home 1500€! My parents have seen my progress in Fortnite tournaments, the placements I’ve achieved, and the fact that I’ve even earned money from it. They trust me enough to let me play until 9 p.m. on weekdays and until 11 p.m. on weekends. They believe I can go pro, and now it’s up to me to make that happen. This is my story-but it’s far from over.
