Percy Jackson was one of favorite book series! I read all of the first series cover to cover in 2 months! Also, The Hate U Give movie was so good, I even bought the DVD!
Wonder is a book I get for all the children I look after/teach when they go from primary school to secondary (grade school to middle school). It’s a great story about acceptance/not judging appearances, friendship and change/transition.
Thank you so much. My son just entered the 6th grade, you gave me some good ideas for us to read! We still haven't read Percy Jackson! So those will be at tye very top of our list. 😊
Thanks! I'm looking for gift ideas for my 6th grade boy who has read Diary of a Wimpy Kid almost exclusively since he discovered them, he likes Percy Jackson and Harry Potter so this is a helpful list :)
Any Andrew Clements is great too. Frindle, No Talking, The Last Christmas Concert... etc, really good books with a good message. A newer series too that is similar to Percy Jackson is Will Wilder. My kids have really started reading those as well, after they finish Percy Jackson. (From a 4th-6th grade Reading Intervention teacher)
I have to read two books for summer vacation and I would recommend call of the wild for 6th graders out there because it has so much to feel when you read.
My 4th graders were OBSESSED with Wings of Fire when I was a first-year teacher, which made me pick it up-such a fun series!
I completely agree 🥰
I had no idea the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series had such a high Lexile level! Thanks for sharing that!

This takes me back to my 6th grade year, although my book series was A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Thanks! I have a 6th grade foster son and normally don’t have this age in my home so these suggestions help a lot.
I’ve read all of these! They are all amazing.
My favorite is Wings of Fire
