- The wait is over! Proteas all-rounder Jacques Kallis celebrated a milestone career double-century at SuperSport Park against India in 2010. The South Africa legend had waited 143 matches before finally stroking his maiden double-ton, making an unbeaten 201 in Centurion.
Those were the Golden years of SA test cricket. Never again will SA poses such talent in 1 team. Kallis, Amla, AB , Smith , Steyn, Morkel, Philander.

He bowled very well too...saw him bowling lovely outswingers many times... obviously bowled less as his career progressed...but I remember he made ponting fall down on the floor with a Jaffa...batting he was a king , substance over style always...best all rounder of his era

That series was one of the best series ever, kallis & tendulker going toe to toe with hundreds on a green mamba. Steyn bowling 140km legspin. Sad part was around the world they were watching the boring ashes.

An ashes which was equally good with England beating Aus at their own home. It was an epic time for test cricket with two cracking contests simultaneously happening.. #Indian_fan.

If milestones are to be made, always organise a series against India. The bowlers would love to more than oblige. For a long time, they were in the team to just make up the numbers. Of course, things are changing a bit. But, the lack of consistency would still allow the players from the other team to get the odd milestone in.

The best, glamorous, skilled there was AB. He was the man of the series.
He has always been unlucky playing down the order because of his striking ability. Always had pressure to score runs quickly.
You are right, a FINE cricketer, a gentleman of the game, never flashy or outlandish, definitely not arrogant, never involved in a scandal. When he was mouthing something to the heavens at 12:59 he was probably talking to his dad.
Consider this: 13 289 test runs, 292 test wickets, 200 test catches, 11 579 ODI runs, 273 ODI wickets.
I wish he could have played on to reach 300 test wickets.

SuperSport you got this wrong, quantity does not always equal quality. I think his best knock in that series was in Newlands, is to guide SA to safely from the precarious position of 64/4 98/5 and 130/6 that is the best, without that Indian would have probably knocked out SA for under 180 and probably romped home to a test and series wins. That was the crowning moment. In this test India probably underperformed causing SA to pile on the miesery.

Racism always prevailed in South African team management and selectors because of politics..at one stage kallis dropped from the team for this concern he was very anguished and wanted to announce retirement..but finally this consignment was ruled out

He is retired for 4 years I think India have found a brilliant batsmen wicket keeper who performs outside India with 45 average. Oh!! Wait we are still searching for it, at least he performed in India with average nearly 39, the best we have now is averaging 32.
