      Thank you to the German people for Giving us Mafell, Festool, Metabo, Knipex and the list goes on and on.
      There is such an honesty about German tools.

    Damn that is one sweet ass piece of kit! I've never really had a chance to work with large beams like that back in Australia, hopefully now I am residing over here in BC I will have more of a chance!

    When you think about how long it would take to form that profile with conventional tools and work out the hourly rate then it really starts to make sense.
    It cut one profile in literally seconds.

    Besides loving all your videos and your knowingly cocky attitude (that you have earned through your skill, of course!), I also noticed you have a Tough Mudder shirt! Awesome! I'm at 3 times now and have been thinking of coming up to Canada for the one up there (I live in Seattle).
    Anyway, you rock, and I just wanted to acknowledge a fellow mudder. Keep kicking ass!

    Great video bud. This tool is very high priced BUT,BUT,BUT it is amazing. Especially if your into any type of decorative finishings. A couple of projects and it pays for itself. Furthermore it is highly sellable if you ever decide to sell it. Ya $6,000 grand is a lot for a portable tool. A simple matter of supply and demand though. If you purchased this and only used it for say one or two decent size projects and sold it for probably 75 to 80% of $6000 then cost is only around $1,200 bucks. It would cost far more than $1,200 bucks to pay someone to do this intricate work in large timbers and a ton of hassle. Something to think about. Cheers

    Jesse I just priced this Band Saw in Scotland £4,000 it's a beautiful tool and the people that make it know it's a beautiful tool but why they would rip people off for £4K is outrageous. It's definitely an unusual bit of kit and a carpenters dream tool. Has anybody ever confronted the maker to justify it's price? How many Samuri Nija Japanesian gates do you need to build to get your money back?

    Nice indeed! I definitely want one of those - awesome versatility. How would it handle some gnarly old english oak beams?

    • @harveysmith100
      @harveysmith100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a Mafell it will do it, just a bit slower.
      It also depends on how old that old English oak is. I remember cutting a 9"x 9" oak beam that was a few hundred years old.
      I cut it with a hand saw and I had to stop and have lunch half way through the cut it took that long!
      Inside it was cold and solid like a piece of marble.

    It would be well worth the time and effort to figure out how to build one of these saws. If anyone does please make a video on it.

      I’ve thought about this a bit as I’d like to build a house featuring profiles that a portable bandsaw would make trivial.
      There’s a few features that may be quite difficult to replicate like the blade skew, but i can imagine it’s possible. One engineering challenge is making a frame sturdy enough to tension the blade sufficiently. I think aluminium extrusion may be a good start, but i do wonder if a timber frame would work too, perhaps with steel reinforcement.
      It needs a blade and wheel alignment mechanism on one wheel at least. And some way to true the bottom plate in two axises.
      Perhaps a high watt circ saw would make a good base to build from. Suspect any motor used would need geared down as a bandsaw runs much slower than most handheld tools.

    Is there any similar band saw brands for maybe cheaper? I'm not talking about dewalt or makita. I'd like one with at least a 8in cut and a flat surface like yours.

  • @nstl440
    @nstl440 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I understand they want to keep the price as low as possible.
    That's probably why they didn't cover the ribs of the body.
    And of course a little bag to collect the dust would also have a too big impact on the profit margin

    • @MartyBacke
      @MartyBacke 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nick Santoyo I love his crazy talk. It's only annoying if you don't have a sense of humor.
      Samurai, don't let them get you down ;-)

    • @TheSamuraiCarpenter
      @TheSamuraiCarpenter  9 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Nick Santoyo No I don't but I still will because it is just the way I am. Deep down inside, you want to be cocky just like me;) It actually will accelerate your learning because the more you boast, the more pressure there is to deliver on your words. I do it to motivate myself and keep me on my own path. I believe that there is a unique genius hidden in everyone. I am bent on finding my inner genius by not copying others but learning from them and adapting that knowledge to express my own creativity. I'm sure you can relate to some part of this thinking.

    • @anarchist393
      @anarchist393 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nick Santoyo he doesnt act "cocky" his personality is "childish" but dont confuse childish with immature
      for those that dont understand. childish is fun child like behaviour. but immature is more like not knowing when to be serious and not being able to take care of business or yourself

      Dikotomii X I was thinking the same thing. You start working out the machining, castings, bearings, etc. It just doesn't add up. I think there's monkey in that pile somewhere counting cash.

    • @srfnscubamunkey
      @srfnscubamunkey 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dikotomii X probably not that many sales. if they sold 1000's per week you could probably cut that price to less that 1000$.

      Jeffrey Ballard
      Agreed.

    • @heinrichwuerfel
      @heinrichwuerfel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jeffrey Ballard its a small german brand, building "carpenter-tools" only (nearly 100 percent made in germany)
      I dont think that they sell 1000 of this in a year
      But still, the quality is unreached, by any other brands (like makita, festool or dewalt) and normally their machines last for decades

    • @jacobwells100
      @jacobwells100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it did cut through a huge block of timber, my bandsaw I brought for £500 is good for medium thickness stuff but anything thick I have to be very careful putting it through so I don't damage the bandsaw or the blade. So I guess this saw can just handle anything.
