Isaac, I have been thinking of a way to make semi-permanent house become "permanent" and still be cheaper!! Have you considered using "bags (bag of rice i.e) of gravels or rocks to fill up the trenches of the foundations? Check earthbags videos online, you will see how easy this concept can be adapted the reality of Africa. Bags are cheap, rocks or gravel can be purchased cheap, barbwire not too expensive and water resistant bag (the one you use for the bases of your posts) are easily available for water protection appropriatly. From the technique uses in earthbag building (foundation mainly) you set up the foundation, insert the outside pillars inside the bags on the foundation...and the inside pillars accordingly Or you could use the earth mixed with some gravels and cement Once done, you have a foundation and the construction and finish you have shown us for a small amount.
