I have a Type V, but I have no idea how to use it. It turns on, the light is green, but were to hook the wires, I don't know. I tried a-u, but got nothing. The lower left larger knob turns just fine, but it's not seated.right. Very sloppy. Am I right in thinking I need something for the whistle? I have a 249E in EXCELLENT condition with Pre war Ives litho cars, and a 265w Tender.
How to remove the cover: 1) remove the 4 screws at top. 2)Remove the orange horn knob by pulling up. 3) The lever handles, they are 3 stacked pieces, the first lever, a metal plate, and then the next level. remove those carefully, it sometimes gets stuck. Once you do that the bakelite cover should slide off. I dont know how to replace the power cord but I would assume you would get a good one and rewire exactly as the old one. IF the old one is gone then ask a professional. Hope that helps.
Thank you for your post! I just purchased this transformer today, December 9, 2023.🚂🚂🚂
What is the bulb number for the KW overload indication? Mine is missing.
I had got a KW transformer and it looks all original parts it still in working order with the original power cable.
Too bad you can only talk about the ZW and KW i was wondering if you can do a video about the TW transformer.

3 circuits on KW are not protected by the breaker. Check service manual.
How to remove the KW cover is what i need to know and replace the power cord! Need illustration! Don't want to destroy the cover!

How much is one? I'm looking for a good transformer, to power my 2 train layout, and the KW seems perfect.
A KW in very good condition will be about $80
@Joe town OK thanks a bunch.
I have the KW, I really like it! I saw one at a train shop for $95.00. You can find them on E-bay or put an ad on Craig list, looking to buy one!
For 95$ it should come with a guarantee as being rebuilt and reconditioned
It is powerful enough to run Standard Gauge trains. It has high voltage
Dont forget type z transformer lol
