    Lmao. 4000 people died last year in car accidents in California alone. How about you do something about that or is that too much work?
    Nah, let's restrain bicyclists though. That will make law enforcement look like they do something. Ridiculous and pathetic as always.

      And you have 31,100,000 cars registered in the state of California. I see cyclists run stop signs like no tomorrow because “it’s hard to regain momentum after they stop.” Well in my 1990 car with a manual transmission, guess what, it wears my clutch out every time I have to accelerate from a dead stop.
      I have no problem with cyclists that don’t impede traffic and follow the rules of the road. Too bad there are realistically few that do so.

      The cops are riding ebikes. This is all about the revenue sharing contract between Uber / Lyft and the City Of Coronado. These bikes have a 50 mile range, which is a day long island exploration in which you don't have to park blocks away from that boutique restaurant or gift shop for a $20 parking fee. Instead, Coronado wants you to park your car and walk or hail a Lyft or Uber and pay a $30 fare and mandatory tip to ride 2 miles at a time in your exploration.

  • @JustClaude13
    @JustClaude13 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

    The problem isn't that the kids have motors on their bikes, it's the fact that the roads are built to be actively hostile to anyone not wrapped in heavy armor.
    This is not due to a fundamental law of nature. it's a deliberate decision by politicians to prioritize the happiness of automobiles over the lives of human beings. They could just as easily rebuild the roads to separate the cars from the bicycles and make the city safer for everyone.

    So first, the government encourages people to use Ebikes for daily commuting because its better for the environment and cheaper. Now that its being widely accepted and used, they want to closely regulate it and restrict them from being easily used for the very thing they were intended to be used for. Next, they will find a way to tax people on ebikes to make up for the loss of taxes made from the fuel tax. Soon we will be required to put plates on them and get an operators license for no other real reason aside from the money the government can make by regulating them. Its all about how much money they can make through regulations and on the other end by issuing tickets to people not following regulations so the police departments can also make money. ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND NOTHING ELSE!

    • @robertlane6431

      @cycologist7069 it depends on the area and traffic. In many places, the roads are far too narrow to ride on safely so yes I absolutely say people can ride them on sidewalks. People on ebikes do have just as much right to not be run over by a car as a pedestrian does.

    I think eBike-only bans just make it more difficult for unfit people to start exercising. If the concern is safety, impose a speed limit instead.
    Also, manual bike riders are way more likely to run stop signs and refuse to slow down because it’s such a hassle to get going again. eBikes (used responsibly) make it physically easier to follow traffic laws.

    The new law should be NOT to allow KIDS to ride E-Bikes unless accompanied by PARENTS or Guardian.
    ADULTS are mature. Adults on e-bikes have a mature understanding to not ride through crowds, on crowded boardwalks, congested sidewalks at high speeds, etc.
    Kids abuse everything because they see everything as fun. I don't blame them. At 12 years old they don't have the proper brain capacity to take knowledge and responsible actions seriously.

    • @En4cer2K9
      @En4cer2K9 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      And that's the problem right there. We judge EVERYBODY on ebikes by the standard of what CHILDREN do, who shouldn't even be GIVEN one of these over a standard pedal bike in the first place. They can't buy an ebike for themselves, so how are they getting them? Negligent parents.
      EVERY SINGLE argument against ebikes is an appeal to either "the children" or the idea that the people who ride them are TOO STUPID to ride them carefully and responsibly. Its extremely condescending. AND it's so incredibly shortsighted and illogical, because without ebikes, you're forcing those SAME PEOPLE who you assume ARE too stupid to operate an ebike safely and responsibly INTO A CAR THAT CAN CAUSE INFINITELY MORE DAMAGE AND DESTRUCTION WHEN DRIVEN IRRESPONSIBLY.

    Yeah, this is backlash from pedestrians and car drivers. They were forced to tolerate bicycles to a certain point, but there are too many Ebikes, in their opinion, so they want to ban them. What we need to do is start restricting the number of cars, especially oversized cars and trucks, on the roads. Or ban them, starting in cities. The problem is those people will cry foul in large numbers. They think it is their God-given right to drive huge gas-guzzling machines wherever they want. Singapore prevented too much traffic on their island when they stopped issuing license plates. If you want to drive a car there, you must pay $100k or more to buy a license plate from an existing driver. But there is plenty of other transport options. Car driving is really an unnecessary luxury in urban areas.

    Any bike don't belong on sidewalks. Especially where there are many pedestrians. They have the same rights as cars on the streets and that's where they belong not on sidewalks. The only time a bike should be on the sidewalk is when it's walked. For the safety of the rider. There are exempt such as wheel chair type of scooters . 73

    Car's have a safe path (road way) cyclists have a safe path (bike path) pedestrians have a save path (sidewalks) then make some room and create an electric path only. These are only getting more and more popular, so eventually it's going to need to be done. Having it be a gray area where some can and some can't is absurd and will only confuse the daft.

      I rarely have a problem with someone on an ebike, but have an issue with regular bikes all the time. Why aren't they trying to over regulate regularl bikes which are a much bigger problem. The answer, they are laying the ground work for eventual licensing, taxing, and insurance. It's all about lining the pockets of those in charge

    Banning kids under 12 from riding bicycles is unconstitutional. Class 1 & 2 eBikes are bicycles under Federal Regulations so CA law is trumped by Federal Law for all states.

    • @flynnstone3580
      @flynnstone3580 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is no law prohibiting children under 12 from riding bicycles. But children under 12 shouldn't be riding e bikes on the roadways with traffic. And it's illegal for kids under 18 to ride regular bikes on the road without a helmet. We don't need kids on the road, especially unsupervised. A child endangerment law will be next. Parents don't seem to care about their kids these days like they used to.

    Why are bike shops still making big money selling, and people keep buying when everyday the places these ebikes can go gets smaller and smaller? These bikes are too dangerous to be in the hands of kids as young as elementary school in the first place. Too dangerous to be on the streets with drivers who don't respect any road laws. Too dangerous to share the sidewalks with pedestrians. Too dangerous for park trails & beach access because riders think trails are some kind of motorcross. E-bike riders have brought all this upon themselves. Maybe just plain regular exercise on a normal bike will come back in style.

    Just because it has pedals it's still a motor bike. If you're riding it in traffic, they should have the same laws as motorcycles like wearing a helmet and using turn signals, brake light, taillight, and a headlight that's on during the day too. They should also have insurance in case you hit someone because they can't hear you coming and they sue you. As they start causing more accidents the laws will change again. If some fool is riding one on the sidewalk, I'm not moving out of their way, they'll have to go off the sidewalk to go around me or hit me then I'll sue them. Some counties won't even let you ride a bicycle on the sidewalk.
