If you see the video Avatar - Let Us Die live at Sticky Fingers, that is how I was introduced to Avatar. I saw them back in fall of 2013 on their first American tour and it was truly incredible. They were cemented as my favorite band forever after that show.
Hopefully, if the pandemic is under control, they will be coming to Grand Rapids, Mi. in July of 2021 & we’re going to do our best to be there. It’s about 120 miles from where we live.....but we REALLY want to go. It will be an open air festival & I feel a little bit better about that too. It all depends on Covid. I took my son to go see Trivium as a 19th birthday present on Halloween 2018. Light The Torch and Avatar opened for Trivium that night, and I was blown away. Hands down it is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. One thing I love about Avatar is that they vary the setlist from night to night, so you get different songs if you happen to catch a couple shows back to back. My friend got to do some live show photography for Trivium and as a result was with them for 5 shows when they were wrapping up the 2018 fall tour and he said that most of the set was the same, but there were 2 or 3 different songs each night and he really dug it. Walking away from that show, I was very happy to see Howard Jones (former Killswitch Engage lead singer) back on stage and killing it and to see Alex Bent play the drums in person for Trivium and how great they were live as well, even if Matt couldn't be there because he was busy with his wife having twins. But the thing that I was most impressed with on the ride to my son's house was Avatar. The energy, the crowd engagement, the showmanship, the playing....just the raw emotion. That is what is best about live music. The feeling is impossible to duplicate. If you two get the opportunity in the summer to see them, you will not be disappointed. Period.

Just like I became an instant fan of Avatar the first time I saw them live (I had heard the name before but that was all) I became a fan of Rocking Grannies after searching for Avatar reaction videos. I'm sure you know this already but you rock.
My first time seeing Avatar was completely by chance. I was visiting a friend in Florida and we we to a festival that just so happened to have a lot of our favorite bands. When Avatar came on stage, well, they absolutely blew us away. So much so that I actually ended up getting their entire catalog and even going so far as to learn how to play a few of their songs. Currently, I have about 4 or 5 under my belt, including Let It Burn, oddly enough. Hahaha. I definitely recommend listening to the newest album if you haven't already. Would love to see a reaction to Colossus or A Secret Door or Gun
A NOFX Live of their song The Decline would be awesome. It's a 17 minute long punk song and last I check was the Guinness worlds longest punk song. Their performance doing it live is insane. Not the orchestral version, the original

God willing we can go to concerts next year, you guys NEED to go see them! Their music is incredible, and seeing them live makes you love them that much more. We have seen them I believe 6 maybe 7 times now. I became a fan when Feathers and Flesh came out in 2016. Before that I didn't listen to them because I thought they were too heavy, but after listening to Feathers and Flesh then a few months later we got to see them at Louder than Life and it was like I sold my freakin soul. I ended up buying all of their albums and have been a massive fan since. We got the pleasure to be at their kick off show for the Avatar Country tour about a week before the album was released so we got to experience that album for the first time live, and I have to say that was one of the best concert experiences we've had. These guys are awesome!

They are great at festivals, but of course you get to see more of them on their tours. Although they are climbing up the bill pretty quick, and I love watching them grow. We definitely missed seeing them this year, and for many reasons I hope Covid is under control by then. REALLY missing the concerts 🤘
They took the opening slot for BabyMetal for one last small tour as they wound down their touring for the Avatar Country album. A good fit on that bill and allowed them to convert more fans and was bit of "goodbye and we will see you later with new music tour" to all the new fans they gained while headlining for the album before they went back into the studio.
@@grannyhaze3492 Their Avatar Country tour was a huge success for them as they now have a great slot (kicking off the top half of the bill and they get the larger font on the ads for the festival) on Friday at the upcoming 4 day Aftershock festival. They always deliver it live as I have seen them 3 times.First time was an outdoor show that had rain blowing sideways during their set and was very cold, made their lightshow really pop but they still gave it everything for the crowd. Avatar Country had them bringing out Hellzapoppin Circus Sideshow (who they worked with on their Black Waltz video) and The Brains as the mid-act. Only shows that I have seen that had more staging were arena shows but major acts but they put on a blistering set and the whole Avatar Country theme was echoed down to the outfits their merch and road crews wore.

I went and saw them on the same tour that your son did! But in my hometown. That show was so much fun. Even the people who were clearly there for babymetal, got into Avatar and started to headbang n dance. Avatar never disappoints. I got to see them live when they were one of the openers for In This Moment. I had heard them before, but they were AMAZING live. CRAZY IN YOUR FACE ENERGY. We saw them, motionless in white, and then when in this moment came out we stayed for maybe 3 songs and left. Avatar and Motionless blew the headliner away!!
I havent watched much of in this moment, but it just feels like she's an unsatisfied controlfreak? Basically only caring about how the show looks? All the live videos i watched she just looks annoyed or frustrated. I kinda like the music itself, I like "outside the box" music, but i just get a very selfcentered vibe from it. Imagine my surprise when my 1st encounter with this band was them opening for Lacuna Coil and Sevendust... on valentine's day no less. Absolutely blew me away. And then they hung out, had a beer, took pictures, & have free copies of their album Black Waltz to everyone who bought a t-shirt...yep... still have the shirt. Side note,You guys are covering their opening song from the Wacken set list. Their 2nd song was Let It Burn (also one of my favorites...Granny has great taste), & The rest of the set list was just as amazing. The whole concert is worth a watch
My gf and I’s first time hearing avatar was at a metal show called louder than life in Louisville Kentucky years ago, before the release of of feathers and flesh. We had been there all weekend and we thought we were metaled out, but when they came out we both were just entrances at their music. They are so amazing to watch play and move around the stage. Also saw them last year in a smaller venue in Saint Louis. Was also an incredible show, completely different kind of show from the first time but just as enjoyable. If you get to see them you will absolutely enjoy it no doubt
I saw them about 4 years ago live at a festival in Fort Worth, TX. They put on a great show. I had heard them on Sirius prior to seeing them live but was blown away by their entertaining nature.
I was going to see them once or twice a year before the pandemic and man do I miss it. Maybe next year hopefully. I'm so happy you ladies appreciate them so much
Love seeing the Grannies listen to Avatar! For fun you should check out their short movie Legend of Avatar Country: A Metal Odyssey. It's a fun short movie (about 44 minutes) that was funded by the fans! I think you would love the fun that they had creating the movie, and seeing the stylistic differences from one song to another.
I saw Avatar a couple years ago in Milwaukee, by far one of the best shows I've been to. And should definitely be a bucket list show for any metal head. Don't forget to wear ear plugs lol. This is one of the only bands I've seen were my ears where ringing for 24 hours afterwards. Again amazing show!!! 🤘🤘
Johannes reminds me of The Joker, Alice Cooper, and The Crow... love these guys. Speaking of opening bands being great... i saw these guys Dirty Honey open up for Alter Bridge and Skillet and they were awesome! Check them out. Actually, check them all out! Alter Bridge is really a great band but they catch so much hate because the guitarist, drummer and bass player were in the band Creed. Skillet puts on a great show! And Dirty Honey... man they are a breath of fresh air if youre a fan of Classic Rock. Please give thwm a listen!
I have seen them live, absolutely one of my favourite live bands there is (together with Amon Amarth). I really hope to catch them live again as soon as they tour Europe again! I also really enjoy the fact that they are so much more than a band; they create a story, they are a story. This always shows in their creative music videos and live performances and the whole movie they made around Avatar Country. And lastly they care so much about their fans, I really feel a connection with this band because they speak to their fans so much via videos or Emails and so. One of the best bands ever, period.
Avatar as opening band... in the US that is not surprising,,,,, Unfortunally the US market is very "closed" for bands that are not US or from the UK. Metal bands that sell out arenas around the globe still play clubs and teathres when they tour the US... Lika Sabaton for instance.... And not that long ago Nightwish was relegateds to clubs in the US...when they sold outr stadiuims on alla other conitnets..... There is probobly a combination of the mentality that "the best is only from the US" and labels/radiostations not promoting them enough.... Glad you like ém :)

I went and saw them on the same tour that your son did! But in my hometown. That show was so much fun. Even the people who were clearly there for babymetal, got into Avatar and started to headbang n dance. Avatar never disappoints. I do hope you get to see them live! They are the best live show I've ever seen. I've seen them three times - once in a temple of rock in the middle of a cornfield. Once I drove through a blizzard. And the third time involved a freeway pileup, first detour to a bridge out, a second detour, and a 2 hr drive turning into 4+ hrs xD But totally worth it. :waves from Wisconsin:

I've seen them live 3 times...first time back in 2013 when they opened for sevendust and lacuna coil. Been hooked since! They put on such an amazing show!

"Kurbads" is the name of legendary hero from Latvian fairytales. He was born magically from the white mare, grew up very fast and was unimaginably strong!
In 2017 and 2019 Skyforger performed a multi-media concert - metal opera "Kurbads. The Son of The Mare".

I got to see them live when they were one of the openers for In This Moment. I had heard them before, but they were AMAZING live. CRAZY IN YOUR FACE ENERGY. We saw them, motionless in white, and then when in this moment came out we stayed for maybe 3 songs and left. Avatar and Motionless blew the headliner away!!
I havent watched much of in this moment, but it just feels like she's an unsatisfied controlfreak? Basically only caring about how the show looks? All the live videos i watched she just looks annoyed or frustrated. I kinda like the music itself, I like "outside the box" music, but i just get a very selfcentered vibe from it. What was your take on it?

Imagine my surprise when my 1st encounter with this band was them opening for Lacuna Coil and Sevendust... on valentine's day no less. Absolutely blew me away. And then they hung out, had a beer, took pictures, & have free copies of their album Black Waltz to everyone who bought a t-shirt...yep... still have the shirt.
Side note,You guys are covering their opening song from the Wacken set list. Their 2nd song was Let It Burn (also one of my favorites...Granny has great taste), & The rest of the set list was just as amazing. The whole concert is worth a watch

My gf and I’s first time hearing avatar was at a metal show called louder than life in Louisville Kentucky years ago, before the release of of feathers and flesh. We had been there all weekend and we thought we were metaled out, but when they came out we both were just entrances at their music. They are so amazing to watch play and move around the stage. Also saw them last year in a smaller venue in Saint Louis. Was also an incredible show, completely different kind of show from the first time but just as enjoyable. If you get to see them you will absolutely enjoy it no doubt

I saw them about 4 years ago live at a festival in Fort Worth, TX. They put on a great show. I had heard them on Sirius prior to seeing them live but was blown away by their entertaining nature.

It's a fun short movie (about 44 minutes) that was funded by the fans! I think you would love the fun that they had creating the movie, and seeing the stylistic differences from one song to another.

I saw Avatar a couple years ago in Milwaukee, by far one of the best shows I've been to. And should definitely be a bucket list show for any metal head. Don't forget to wear ear plugs lol. This is one of the only bands I've seen were my ears where ringing for 24 hours afterwards. Again amazing show!!! 🤘🤘

Johannes reminds me of The Joker, Alice Cooper, and The Crow... love these guys. Speaking of opening bands being great... i saw these guys Dirty Honey open up for Alter Bridge and Skillet and they were awesome! Check them out. Actually, check them all out! Alter Bridge is really a great band but they catch so much hate because the guitarist, drummer and bass player were in the band Creed. Skillet puts on a great show! And Dirty Honey... man they are a breath of fresh air if youre a fan of Classic Rock. Please give thwm a listen!

I have seen them live, absolutely one of my favourite live bands there is (together with Amon Amarth). I really hope to catch them live again as soon as they tour Europe again! I also really enjoy the fact that they are so much more than a band; they create a story, they are a story. This always shows in their creative music videos and live performances and the whole movie they made around Avatar Country. And lastly they care so much about their fans, I really feel a connection with this band because they speak to their fans so much via videos or Emails and so. One of the best bands ever, period.

Avatar as opening band... in the US that is not surprising,,,,, Unfortunally the US market is very "closed" for bands that are not US or from the UK. Metal bands that sell out arenas around the globe still play clubs and teathres when they tour the US... Lika Sabaton for instance.... And not that long ago Nightwish was relegateds to clubs in the US...when they sold outr stadiuims on alla other conitnets..... There is probobly a combination of the mentality that "the best is only from the US" and labels/radiostations not promoting them enough.... Glad you like ém :)
