Awesome. Thanks for your service! We have a lot of F-15s here in the UK skies of course, mostly from Lakenheath but we've had jets from Seymour recently as well as aircraft from AFRC squadrons staging through. Cool jet!
I grew up right outside Dyess AFB in Texas. I loved watching these take off at night, with all 4 engines glowing. There was one airshow they did there one year where a Lancer did a flyover at over Mach 1 at very low altitude. It knocked pictures off our walls. So worth it. I was in the front yard when it went right over us, completely silent for a second.
Absolutely beautiful!! Only one time in all my years of attending air shows has there been a plane that shook, rattled, and rolled the ground with it's power on take off than the B-1. It was at the MCAS Miramar air show in California and I shall never forget that moment. Thanks for sharing.
Patrick Oconnor I would have loved that. The "closest" I came to the SR-71 was at it's final air show performance in 1999 at Edwards AFB. When it flew by with it's tiger-tail afterburners blazing, I could feel the power from half way across the field. They also had it fly over at 70.000 ft. at mach 3. It produced a double sonic boom and the announcer said that the SR-71 was 2 miles away. I will never forget that moment.
I got buzzed at low altitude by one of these while sipping margaritas on a boat on Lake Powell in the '80s.....holy shit, it was doing near Mach 1 so we didn't hear it coming but one of the guys who happened to be a pilot saw it coming down a canyon onto the lake and screamed "B1!" and everyone was like "wtf is he all screaming about?" And we all turned around and it was so low over our boat that I could have tossed the pilot a margarita if he was going a bit slower. His loss. Then our ears never forgave him...earth shattering point blank RAWR! Glad he wasn't doing Mach 1
Howard Zinko I live near Nellis AFB and the B-1s visit from Dyess, no plane rattles the ground, structures and your body like a B-1 takeoff at full power overhead.

I worked at Air Force plant 42 in Palmdale, California at site 4 on the B2 program. Next door at site three was where Rockwell assembled B1s. You could literately feel it in your chest when a B1 hit its afterburners. An incredible experience to watch (and feel) them take off.

Cool to watch, more fun to sit in! I was on that sortie headed to the Czech Republic. Over 5000 hours in a Buff and only 110 in the Bone but my, what a ride!
I remember being stationed at Dyess at that time and we went to the other side of the field through a south side perimeter road. When a B-1 was in takeoff position, we held short of the runway and got treated to witnessing those massive engines go into full afterburner. Our Hummer would vibrate from the sheer force of the roar of the engines before the plane was taking off from the strip, much like this excellent video showed.
@@UKAviationMovies Sadly, we weren't allowed to photo or record the takeoff during those times because of security back then. K We also got to witness a B-1 and an F-15 flying at a relatively close formation over the base to show visiting congress men the B-1s tight maneuvering capabilities. I think it was meant to wow the congressman more than anything else as there was no representation of any true tactical capabilities of the bomber.
Awesome, a Bone from Dyess AFB. I worked on them for 9 years. I started as a Mid-shift Production Supervisor and when I retired I was the Avionics Flight Chief. I can't say it was the best base I ever worked at. The avionics shop was open for business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 363 days a year. We were only closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The workload was intense to say the least. Undermanned, and overworked. We were authorized 137 airmen, but usually had 67-73. The coolest thing I got to do as a Flight Chief was to read a letter from an Army 1st Sgt. It described how their patrol was pinned down from sniper fire and they called in air support. The closest aircraft with ordnance was 15 minutes out. Our B-1 was getting fuel from a tanker after dropping all his bombs elsewhere, It arrived within five minutes and flew over the enemy held ridge line in full afterburner at 200 feet. It didn't drop a single bomb, but the taliban fled for their lives. It must have been quite a sight. The B-1 is faster than an F-15 at sea level. Quite a beast.

I have a friend, a golf buddy, who is a retired USAF Colonel. He flew B-52s and B-1s. I asked him what it was like taking off in a B-1. He said it was absolutely awesome. You never get used to it. He said the ground shook all around you.
This is the loudest, most Earth shaking aircraft you'll ever see and hear. One of my favorite aircraft of all time. It's America's highest payload bomber and it flies like a fighter.
I got buzzed by one of these things flying near Mach 1 at 100 feet off the surface of Lake Powell back in the 80s......all of us spilled our margaritas and have permanent hearing damage but it was still worth it.
This one has the original external engines. The newer stealth upgrade has recessed engines to reduce radar feedback. I haven't kept up with this system, so I don't know if/when the recessed engines were/will be upgraded. I entered the Air Force Academy in 1974 and these bombers were listed with photos in the Contrails training manual as pending along with F-15's, F-16's, and A-10's. That's how freakin' long ago it was when these were being designed and tested.
This is by far the most beautiful plane in American history. I had a white metal model of one in my college dorm and never got tried of looking at it. But the recipients of its gifts will not be so happy.
@@leonmiller4774 You might have a point there. I've spent the better part of an hour on three visits at Udvar-Hazy getting as close to the SR-71 as they will allow and bought the polo shirt of one too. Upclose it looks like a child's paper mache project made of black, badly glued paper but those lines are....legendary. "That's better than anything in Star Wars" said one guy standing near me. His young son agreed.
I worked in the large hanger where the engines were installed on the B1-B bomber at NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL ! GLORY TO UKRAINE ! This bomber looks like a jet fighter on steroids ! It's stealthy , flies high and has precision armaments ! GOD forbid it ever flies over Russia ,which it won't because the WEST ONLY WANTS TO LIVE IN PEACE !
Did my high school research debate paper on the B-1 way back in 1980 before Reagan brought it back. The B-1 was supposed to replace the B-52 and now 38 years later both are still flying. Wish there were more of them.
I was driving on a highway next to an air show when one flew over low with afterburners. The loudest plane I have ever heard- and I have heard a lot of them.
Off to refuel, what a beast. I worked under the hanger doing some add ons to the hanger and some welding. We could drop a bit of slag onto the floor since it was a clean room on the first one built in production. It's a big bird.
When I worked at Boeing Plant II, they were showing this baby off at a mini air show. I watched her do a touch and go from a few hundred yards away. Awesome aircraft.
The F110 GE engines are among the best as to why both the F-14 and F-16 we're redone with them however all B1-Bs still have the old but reliable GE F101 engines. The B-1 Lancer did test them several yrs ago but as to why not using them is just a mystery. The thrust to weight ratio must still be capable for such a massive plane and from the look of things still a beauty when afterburner selected.
This is my all time favorite plane. My dad worked for Rockwell International in Tulsa, Ok. and in 1976 we took a vacation to California. He worked it out so we could go to the plant and see the full sized mock up. We climbed all over it and got the guided tour. Definitely the highlight of the trip for me. Then I come home from school in 1977 and Carter had cancelled the program. My dad is still bent to this day...mention Carter and his blood boils!
That is an amazing aircraft and it was designed during the Cold War for penetration into Soviet airspace in case of a nuclear war. It was designed to penetrate at low levels and destroy their targets and exit quickly before going back to high level flight where it was safe. The B-2 Spirit is another airplane designed to do the same thing, but at higher altitudes and return to their home base afterwards.
We were in Kandahar Province on the enemy supply trail at 6500 ft and got ambushed so we dug in behind the boulders and requested air support. We were advised the A10's could not be on site for 30 minutes at best and my response was we would not last that long but we would hold in place. The next thing I heard was a strange voice telling us to dig in place and that THEIR mission had been canceled, but could deliver lots of gifts to buy us some time and it was COVER ears time! When that B1 arrived it was only five minutes after the call. Most of us were visible elevated off the sandy ground when that bomb run exploded right in front of our now covered faces and ears! IMPRESED DOES NOT EVEN BEGINE TO DISCRIBE THE AMAZING DISPLAY BY A SINGLE BI. I HAD TO SET UP STEAK DINNERS AT A BAR HANG OUT BACK NEAR THE BASE IN SOUTH DAKOTA FOR AFTER THEIR 30 HOUR RETURN WITH A NOW EMPTY BOMB RUN LOAD AS A HEARTFUL THANKS!
Wow. What an awesome comment, thanks a lot for sharing that with us all. I've not had a story on the channel of how a B-1 has saved troops like this, but I have seen the videos on the net. I had the opportunity to go inside one of these on a trip to North Dakota. I'm 6'1" and weigh about 210. I could just barely fit into the co-pilot's seat, but it was worth the effort.
Wow that must have been an awesome experience. I saw a video recently where one of the crew was doing a walk around of the jet. They said the B-1 was designed to carry fuel and bombs but they forgot to add the crew space 🤣
I am not a huge fan of the "American Way" (I am Irish) but how I wish that I was present at that take-off. That beast is right up there alongside my favourite aircraft of all time...The P51B/C. My late beloved once bought me a huge portrait of James Howards 'Ding Hao' for Christmas, and it is still my pride and joy!
Amazing that something that sleek looking can deliver 75,000 lbs of attitude adjustment. This bird first flew in 1974, still looks pretty good for an old broad.
I've been on this road that all the aircrafts come over when coming into our airport and have been right under one of these coming in lowering its landing gear , it was awesome.
I worked at Fairford putting up scaffold mostly refuel plan but bigger planes come in and out .we were only 150 yards from run way . And standing on the scaffolding shaking was mental.
I got to see a B-1A at Offutt AFB in summer 1981. The spine was shaped a little different, the engine intakes were different, and of course it was white.
The Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy bomber used by the United States Air Force. It is commonly called the "Bone" (from "B-One"). It is one of three strategic bombers in the U.S. Air Force fleet as of 2020, the other two being the B-2 Spirit and the B-52 Stratofortress. The Air Force had 66 B-1Bs in service as of September 2012. The B-1B is expected to continue to serve into the 2030s, with the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider to begin replacing the B-1B after 2025. The B-1s in inventory are planned to be retired by 2036.

I live near fairford and when this flew over, it literally shook the ground
Yea, i know what you mean.
That’s one awesome jet there. They are huge and i just love watching all 4 afterburners light up.
Thanks for the watch and the comment my fiend 👍
The fuel they must use for takeoff. WoW. I love to watch these videos. I grew up near Seattle and watchee the first Boeing jets fly nearby I am 80. What a change in our world.
Thanks for dropping by. Things sure have come a long way, but how fantastic you saw those early Boeing jets take to the skies! 😎😎
FANTASTIC CLIP ! Thank you so much for this video .
Wow that’s impressive. God bless the brave men and women who operate these amazing works of engineering
I have a friend, a golf buddy, who is a retired USAF Colonel. He flew B-52s and B-1s. I asked him what it was like taking off in a B-1. He said it was absolutely awesome. You never get used to it. He said the ground shook all around you.
Woah. I sure would love to sit in on that ride! Cool friend to have 👍
This is the loudest, most Earth shaking aircraft you'll ever see and hear. One of my favorite aircraft of all time. It's America's highest payload bomber and it flies like a fighter.
Did you ever hear the SR-71 Blackbird?
I got buzzed by one of these things flying near Mach 1 at 100 feet off the surface of Lake Powell back in the 80s......all of us spilled our margaritas and have permanent hearing damage but it was still worth it.
I love our military ! Thank God for American soldiers, marines, sailors and flying military.
Amen, brother!
This is my absolute favorite aircraft ever built! God Bless America!!
Thanks for the comment bud, it’s one of mine too, so great to see them here in the U.K. 😎
When you consider that this aircraft was designed and built decades ago, an almost incredible achievement.
@@bail10k31 it’s really exciting to just think about the things the US Airforce will come up with in the future.
@@bail10k31 We're going to need them to fight WW3, primitive crazy humans won't stop until the planet is nuked for morbid!
@@bail10k31 Its gonna be awesome. 6th generation of fighter jets, new stealth bombers. Looking forward to all of it.
@@jeffommen4759 They’re saying the B-21 Raider and another 6th gen fighter prototype has been flying. Can’t wait!
This is by far the most beautiful plane in American history. I had a white metal model of one in my college dorm and never got tried of looking at it. But the recipients of its gifts will not be so happy.
sorry the SR&! takes that cake not only was it unarmed it was beautiful pity nobody saw much of it in reality
The most visually stunning aircraft ever built.
I worked in the large hanger where the engines were installed on the B1-B bomber at NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL ! GLORY TO UKRAINE ! This bomber looks like a jet fighter on steroids ! It's stealthy , flies high and has precision armaments ! GOD forbid it ever flies over Russia ,which it won't because the WEST ONLY WANTS TO LIVE IN PEACE !
probably one of the most eye pleasing aircraft I can think of
You’re right there for sure. Beautiful aircraft. Thanks for the comment 👍
Saw this machine at an airshow years ago. Loudest thing I've ever heard!
The B-58 Hustler is the one 👌💯
I wish the B-58 was still flying, I'd absolutely LOVE to see (and hear) one in person 👍
The most beautiful airplane, and the most awesome, ever.
Off to refuel, what a beast. I worked under the hanger doing some add ons to the hanger and some welding. We could drop a bit of slag onto the floor since it was a clean room on the first one built in production. It's a big bird.
It sure is. Thanks for sharing that 👍
This has got to be "the" most beautiful looking aircraft.
When I worked at Boeing Plant II, they were showing this baby off at a mini air show. I watched her do a touch and go from a few hundred yards away. Awesome aircraft.
Awesome, I hope they keep them around for a while !👌
Me too dude! 🤞
Saw one take off from St Mawgan last year in the dark, mental.
Some guy parked his lorry up on the kerb and stood on the roof, what a view!
The most graceful and most articulate......... .
I saw it the next day and we practically got the same shot. Great stuff
Nice one dude :D
This is my all time favorite plane. My dad worked for Rockwell International in Tulsa, Ok. and in 1976 we took a vacation to California. He worked it out so we could go to the plant and see the full sized mock up. We climbed all over it and got the guided tour. Definitely the highlight of the trip for me. Then I come home from school in 1977 and Carter had cancelled the program. My dad is still bent to this day...mention Carter and his blood boils!
Awesome story! Thanks for the great comment 👍
HAVE SEEN THESE N THE AIR THEY R A BEAST
Thanks for the comment Calvin 😎
A Beautiful Bird with Beautiful Curves✌️🧐🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇦
That is an amazing aircraft and it was designed during the Cold War for penetration into Soviet airspace in case of a nuclear war. It was designed to penetrate at low levels and destroy their targets and exit quickly before going back to high level flight where it was safe. The B-2 Spirit is another airplane designed to do the same thing, but at higher altitudes and return to their home base afterwards.
Those 4-engine afterburners 🔥 are insane!
Fun fact:
The Concorde had 15 % lower maximum take-off weight than the B-1, but still had 23 % more powerful engines.
Absolutely incredible to see 😎👍 thanks for the comment 👌
God bless and thank you for the Fantastic pilots u have given us to serve ....They're just fantastic 👏🏼 👋🏾👋🏾💯💯
Awesome post. I'll pin it so others can read your incredible story. Thanks a lot for your service, and for the great post 👍

Saw the B1 at an Air Show 20 years ago...its Raw Power and agility made it the crowd favorite. It was just amazing to watch...👍. .🇺🇸
Thank you to all of the men and women who served and to those who are serving now. It makes me proud to be an American, and I know the sacrifices that y’all make every day for our freedom, my dad was also Air Force and I have lived in Turkey and Spain, I was fortunate to have experienced that but there ain’t nothin like the good ole U.S.A.

Definitely. Such a beautiful jet. Thanks for the comment 👍
She sure is a work of art isn't she!! ❤️

1974! 44 years old and still going.
Next stop.....Texas!....nicely shot....a gentle zoom at liftoff would have been icing on the cake.
Cheers bud. I ran out of zoom though 😂😂😂
What a beast. That thing scares the hell out of me and he's on my side
I've been on this road that all the aircrafts come over when coming into our airport and have been right under one of these coming in lowering its landing gear , it was awesome.
I went to Purdue, and very early one morning a B1 took off from their airport, right over my head. Earsplitting.
I worked at Fairford putting up scaffold mostly refuel plan but bigger planes come in and out .we were only 150 yards from run way . And standing on the scaffolding shaking was mental.
I bet !!! It must have been something!
Great video of my all time favourite aircraft! Thanks!
If you ignore its purpose and just look at its form, the B-1 is perhaps the sleekest, smoothly contoured, most beautiful aircraft ever made.
I agree bud 👌😎
Yet another reason why I'm proud of my country.
Absolutely, so many don’t seem to be!
Nearly blew up my headphones listening to this ,, epic B1 made by Rockwell
I love watch these planes fly I lived close to the base where they are a great bird
For those who haven't googled it, the B-21 is another flying wing like the B-2.
...not exactly. 🤔
But the B52 keeps on keep’n on
Been painting these beautiful airframes for 23 years . Along with b52, kc135, e6, c130, and soon kc46.
