This song is a true gem of rock history. When first released in 1967, of course without orchestra, it was a beautiful song from Procol Harum. This was a couple years after I graduated from high school, but I fondly remember it. I listen to it often. I found this on TH-cam several years ago and listen often. One of the most amazing songs ever writen. As mentioned before his voice has hardly changed as all. I can see you are enjoying it also. Thanks for bringing it back one more time. I'm sure the orchestra enjoyed playing it also.

This is a fitting epitaph for Gary Brooker who died recently of cancer. I always thought it ironic that this beautiful, emotional music was pretty much the opposite of what was implied in Keith Reids brilliant lyrics! Thats probably why they were such a great band! I love your heartfelt reaction to this song, and have shed tears over it just like you for decades!

We will miss you Mr. Brooker.
Sarah, all first time listeners to this 1967 classic have just been ‘schooled’ to what the roots of rock, blues, jazz, big band, folk and country produced their fruits in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. There are so many more pioneers from that era, too many to mention, but keep searching and you will be captured by the lyrics, melodies, guitar riffs and more. This is probably my favorite version of the song I used to listen to on my round Panisonic AM radio. Remember back then, Dolby, surround sound and stereo were dreams but in R&D, as was FM radio. Curtis-Mathis was the best (price for a blue collar family) console one could buy with a B&W tv and a turn table to play 45’s and albums. How times have changed.
Those of us out there remember when tv had only 4 or 5 channels that signed off at midnight and was just ‘snow’. BUT radio was on all night and forever.

Ok Sarah, that hit me on so many emotional levels for very different reasons. The orchestral arrangement has strong sections of Bach’s Air on the G String, which as a young teenager was one of my absolute favorite classical arrangements, years later to be played at my grandfather’s funeral. This song by Procol Harum came out in 1967, the year I was born, so as a very young child I loved it, not yet knowing the classical composition yet, talk about emotional overload, and you just happened to post this today, on my birthday, I literally have tears going down my face❤️ Janet. I just can’t 😥…..

Sarah, thank you ❤️Fragrance and music are the brains strongest triggers of memory, we get nostalgic, such happy thoughts and we know so much about what we did and fun we had listening to certain songs, especially from our teenage years, at least for me.

I clicked on this video and I’m so grateful that you kept quiet throughout this masterful performance.
I’m so wary of reviews of this specific live set as half wits constantly chirping and interrupting it completely ruins it.
