  • Here's a little short about James Gandolfini. I wanted to talk about just a few film roles that he had outside of his masterful work on The Sopranos.

Same, I'm a Vietnamese, know about Mr. James Gandolfini throught 'The Mexican' movie and I was interesting with his role.
Then I just typed the name of James then realized that he was dead two years ago, my face and my emotion just can't explain but I feel sadly immeadiately...
Just in 2018, I was know about The Sopranos and really enjoying this tv-show, threw my die hard habbit 'video-games' into a space to digging The Sopranos until the end.
To this day, I still miss and love James Gandolfini but I still not know my why for it.
Maybe I liked him because James is a New Jersey but his thoughts and class was crushed me.
Sorry if my English is terrible to explain my words, because there is a lot of things I wanna share about James Gandolfini.

Ik what you mean. Ik this sounds kind of unrelated but thats how i felt when nipsey hussle died... yk successful people tell young people a pretty common peice of advice and that's "if you wanna be a millionaire but don't know where to start. A good place would be is to find a millionaire you feel you relate to and jog behind him everyday when he goes jogging" if you know what that means then you know. My point is though... that's usually true except when your 19... and you've been "jogging" to the tune of your favorite millionaire for 5 years and then suddenly you watch him get shot 6 times and kicked in the head in the parking lot of his own establishment...almost made me give up tbh watching the man that gave me hope get murdered. I'm sure thats how alot of people feel about mr gandolfini as well..

Gandolfini performance as Tony Soprano is considered by many as revolutionary and influential, some even saying that Gandolfini was the "Marlon Brando of Television", because like Brando, he redefine the concept of the man in conflict and masculinity, giving a sensibility so real and relatable, just like when Brando did A Streetcar Named Desire and Godfather.

back then hbo was a luxury.
The first thing I watched was the first episode on the first night of sopranos. Just by accident.
I watched the whole first season telling everyone I knew how amazing the show was.
Before the 2nd season started, I moved to Europe for a year.. when I got back season 3 was had just finished but I didn’t have hbo anymore. I was damn near homeless.
I join the air force and left sept 11 2001.
The next time I caught up to the sopranos, it was huge, it was the end season 6. And I was in Iraq.
I watched the whole season while I was there. And then rewatched it the next time I was sent back to Iraq.

The guy was just a wonderful human being. The things I've heard said about him, who he was and what he was like by those who knew him well; fill me with a real warmth. I never thought I'd feel such a deep sense of loss over the passing of someone I never knew? And even after all these years since his death I'm still so upset about it. James Gandolfini would have been THE best actor from his generation, I'm certain of this! He was the GOVERNOR!! And I'll miss him forever man.

This video made me tear up... I also watched The Sopranos for the first time while in quarantine, and the whole cast just blew me away. But, James' performance had an authenticity unlike any other I have ever seen on TV, even more than Bryan Cranston's Walter White... The man, the actor, the characters. Never confuse them to be the same one. RIP, James.

I lived one town away from where James Gandolfini was born and raised. They named the street by the Ridge diner James Gandolfini way. I felt like a member of my family passed when he died. His wake was filled with stars as I drove past the day of it in Park Ridge,Nj. I can’t wait to meet him in heaven and tell him how much I adored all of his work. I have watched the Sopranos many many times and still love it like the first time. Rest in love beautiful James. You are truly missed by so many.

He had me hooked with his acting in just that movie and when I watched the Sopranos, my mind was blown, which also made his untimely passing even more bitter for me at the time as everyone said he was such a nice guy and had great acting abilities.

Like the recently deceased Chadwick Boseman and also like James Dean, Gandofini died at a relatively young age for an actor. They all had memorable roles and were poised to do greater things if not for their untimely deaths.

@@Luigix99xThat's quite rude. Chadwick Boseman was a talented actor, and while he wasn't on the same level as James Gandolifini he was skilled and did great in his career (not just as Black Panther, too. Even though he was the best thing about the BP movie).

Sopranos will forever be out there as this most unique piece of art television was ever able to create.
There will never be the kind oportunities they had in the late nineties before the internet took over, to create characters with so much depth, this kind of long meandering storytelling and even the visual style will forever be unmatched.
Sopranos is the one thing i'm trying to stay away from to happily come back to in a couple of decades later, to relive it again.

I am envious. Being my favorite show of all time, I would give so much to be able to forget all I know about The Sopranos.. just so I could re-experience that first watch-through. But then again, even after having watched the series as many times as I have, it only gets better with every subsequent viewing. Whether it's your second watch or your fifteenth, there is *_always_* something new to pick up on that you didn't catch the time before.

Watch it again next year. This is the kind of show where subtle hints and Easter eggs are dropped, and you just can't find them on the first viewing. I watched Breaking Bad multiple times as well, and it feels like every time I see it, I notice a new thing.
Even with anime, Attack on Titan. There's so many things to discover during a second third or even fourth viewing.
