Good news she has been preserved unlike quite a few of her sisters. Sadly just as a static exhibit. I got to drive the entire class ,thousands of miles on each one. My records indicate I last got to drive 131 to Edinburgh in Spring 2020.

@@typhoon-7 I only ever went to Bounds Green once Mike. We drove down from Wigan to fit a Wheel skate on a DMU. Unfortunately it was under the Wires and they couldn`t give us an isolation of the overheads and they couldn`t move the unit because of Transmission problems, we drove all the way back to Wigan without so much as getting a Jack out. Such is life 👍
My wife would have got the locomotive through that gate. You might have to replace the fence and gate, but she's an experienced driver and VERY determined!
I was really looking forward to seeing what kind of magic was required to get it from the lorry onto the track.... Perhaps an episode of Monster Moves will reveal all!
The lorry crew departed the site for dinner after they arrived with the loco.It was very cold so I also departed and picked up the move the following morning. Thanks for your comments.
I was watching a TV program last week delivering another loco here and they were having the same problem getting it through that entrance. I’d get the fencer back and make that entrance easier 😁
All that glitters is not gold. The loco has some areas with minor corrosion and No 1 cab requires a deep clean but I agree, It looks splendid. Thanks for your comment.
Im only 16 right now and have only just realised these were being put out of service which i find very sad because i grew up around these trains watching them pull into york railway station i always prefered these ones to the 43s because I liked the more square shaped design. So glad they have been put into preservation it makes me feel a bit old lol.
Money. It would be more expensive to drag the locomotive along the ECML to Edinburgh, have the dragging locomotive run round the 91, then take it along to Falkirk

This is the trouble with electrics - It's hard to keep them in operational condition unless you have OLE which lets face it, no preserved railways is going to bother with. Too expensive and too much H&S faff. That said, I would MUCH rather see them being preserved as exhibits than being scrapped - That has been physically painful to watch! I have so many happy memories of trips on the ECML behind these roaring beasts. I realise things change and times move on but, what with the end of HSTs as well, with the mk4 sets also soon to bow out it really does feel like the end of an era on the East Coast.
@@BONESS27001it's great that 91131 is being preserved I think the cherry on the cake 🍰 in a manner of speaking would be for her to renumbered 91031 and carry intercity livery again with the swallow and large numbers even if she actually doesn't run on the mainline again however great video nonetheless 😊

Its not small. This is the first transport company who have had problems entering. We have had many vehicle moves via this entrance over the last ten years. One of these was filmed for the "Train Truckers" series on Channel 4 or 5 when the Battery train arrived. Thanks for your comment Barrie.
I wonder why they have to use a lorry to bring it into the museum. Even though the heritage railway is connected to the Edinburgh Waverly Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High line and ECML. For the Class 91 run light from Depot to Edinburgh Waverly and the junction of Bo'ness railway
The truck driver could've easily reversed in but no they decided to try and go head in 🤦♀ They literally have a steerable trailer, they could easily have used that to get in. All that would be needed is to move the car out the way, Nice little shunter there, is that a Class 04?

The lunacy of moving a train by road in the UK never fails to amaze me. I don't think they do this in France, Germany or Japan......so why here??? Old trains or ones to be scrapped should ALWAYS be moved by rail. There are no exceptions.

I dont like class 91 should have just stuck to proper locos non of this electric rubbish just give me a proper loco like a Deltic or any of the EE locos like class 50 or 37. Long may they ply their trade.I wont even have them on my model railway then again I wont have a GWR or Southern or LMS steam loco on my train set unless I cant build a scrapyard.

This 91 is to be a static exhibit in the Scottish Railway Museum. The 225 Group are aiming to preserve a 225 set and use it on railtours
I have no doubt that LSL will take a 91! They already have a full Mk4 set and a DVT sitting at their depot!
This loco is now a museum exhibit and will not be used on mainline duties again.

My son works on the LNER both the Azumas and class 91s /43s at Neville hill in Leeds probably worked on that one.

The cab interior at the blunt end must be in immaculate condition. They were hardly used in 30 years.
The No 2 end (blunt) is in very good condition but No 1 end requires a deep clean, especially the seats.

You forgot 03s 07s 08s 20s 24s 25s 31s 35s 40s 52s 55s worked on them all as a secondman goodtimes.
