Class 84 & Maude at Bo'ness 4K

- The extraction of Glasgow built North British Electric Loco Class 84 001 from the Scottish Railway Museum at Bo'ness on 4th January 2023.
The loco was moved into the Bo'ness diesel shed for an ultrasonic axle test and functional brake test as requested by the national railway museum at York.
The loco is being moved from Bo'ness to York by road and then a rail move to the NRM.

Brilliant video, as you were doing ultrasonic testing and VIBT brake testing I actually thought it was going to York by rail!

Wow, I haven’t seen a class 84 since the seventies. Survival obviously depended on size of fleet, all similar locos cannibalised to source parts. Great look around, thanks 👍👋👋

hi there, great video, so that means the 84 will not run again on its own power or not ?
Thats a decision for the national Railway Museum who own the loco, but I personally dont think it will ever run again under its own power.

We are getting a Class 91 to replace it .

Peter, This loco will never run under its own power again and is destined to be a museum exhibit for ever unless the NRM at York have any other plans.

when was it filmed in 2022 or 2023 as I thought you had made mistake putting 2022 instead of 2023 nice movement of roarer class 84001 it needs firing up on on electric as I would live to see it move under it's own power! Nice video of inside 84001 🥰

@@BONESS27001 it would be nice to see this moving again under it's own power! but I can't see it happening unfortunately but 89001 is back in service and they sourced parts for that so why can't they for other lone electric locomotives! its probably the fact they won't spend money on them i say!!!

The 303 will never run under its own power again but we might run it "push/ pull" sometime in the future.

Is that one of the old Caledonian Sleeper carriages you have sitting in the yard?

The sleeper coach is now inside the Scottish Railway museum at Bo'ness.

Is 84 0001 the same engine that was formerly at Crewe?
No. I think you'r referring to 84008 that resided at Crewe works until the mid 1980s.
Class 84001 in the video belongs to the National collection at York museum.

Shame the loco is being removed, why is it going to NRM? 🙄
It was on loan from the NRM, so it was never going to stay forever at Bo'ness. However it will be replaced by a class 91, 91131 the train to be built at crewe and im pretty sure the first class 91 to be preserved

The Class 91 will arrive late January 2023.
@@charliehogg1639I’m pretty sure it’s 91031, because since I volunteer with the youth group I asked the museum director, she said it will be 91031, I could be mistaken but I’m pretty sure she said it was 91031
pitty 84001 isn't out doing railtours as with it's other class mates at barrow Hill depot all them sparkles gathering dust and earning no revenue!!!
I don't think it would be a good idea to put 25KV into the loco after being out of service for over 40 years.
