I feel like every person should watch this trial to get an intimate glimpse into the horrible effects of mass murders. This will go down as one of the worst things to ever happen to children at school. It's sad that Uvalde and countless other shootings occurred after Parkland.

This parent is working hard to make changes to help other parents from having to walk in his shoes. I assure you he is not doing this for the money. No amount of money will bring back his beautiful daughter. So whereas he could have just taken the FBI settlement money and the School board payouts and rolled over to be consumed in his grief he chose another path to improve things in the future for children and their families. Many of these families are highly educated and accomplished individuals. Their efforts should be applauded and supported. I wish them all healing and keep them in my prayers.

Mr. Montalto, I am very sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter. I am a mother of a 15 year old young man and I am signing up on the web site to answer those 5 questions and I will do what I can in honor of those beautiful children and teachers that lost their lives too soon. School is not the place anyone should feel unsafe nor should it be the last place our children takes their last breath. This honestly horrifies and terrifies me which makes me want to home school my son but he doesn’t want out of school, he’s a football player, has many friends and he loves school. So this Mama Bear just prays and gives it to God to look over all children in schools. You are my inspiration for stepping up and getting my voice heard on this matter in the future school board meeting. Thank you for all that you do and for the info. Sending healing hugs to you and your family from Alabama. ❤️

I watched an interview of a young adult Texan who said that the kids in his high school could bring their guns to school as long as they kept them in their lockers.
Americans need armed guards, locked fences and drills in their schools. This is not normal.
I didn't realize that the Parkland shooter had so many visits from law enforcement. The couple who took him in allowed him to bring his guns into their home. They said he appeared normal! The kid I see in court is not normal. His brother said he'd been bullied for being different.
Gun control doesn't mean that the govt is coming for your guns. Taking guns away from someone like Cruz or not arming teachers is gun control. It's not all or nothing.

    • @dragonf1092
      @dragonf1092 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Illegal unconstitutional gun control doesn't stop or prevent anything or protect anyone. Gun control makes everyone a potential victim,it enables and promotes crimes, allowing criminals to carry out their criminal actions without worry of repercussions for their actions. Criminals don't follow and obey laws that's why they are called criminals,no bill is going to stop or prevent anything or protect anyone.

He even said that he thought if anyone would shoot up a school it would be him yet very little was done to notify anyone or prevent that. That is ridiculous the school did not warn the parents probably only to not freak anyone out and have them remove the kids from the school better to get money even if it means risking the kids lives wow way to go school board. It is one thing if you do not notice or see warning signs it is another to ignore them completely and not warn others more could have been done to prevent such horrible things from occurring.

Literally nothing. People seem to think school shootings are a new thing but they've been happening in the US since 1776. They got a lot more deadly after WWII and the internet made it easier to hear about them but the US has always been like this. Also, the AR-15 is a semi-automatic .22 which is one of the weakest and most popular types of rifles in the world. My first gun when I was just 14 years old was a .22 semi-automatic and I live in Canada. It's the baby gun you teach your kids to shoot on. The AR-15 looks fancy but it's nothing special. If you're going to have any legal guns the AR-15 will be among them.

The simple fact is all these shooters are all young people.Age limits should be the first thing done.
Every school should have a councilor.
If theirs a thousand children you can guarantee 10% are going through issues or traumas at some point in their school year .As a society Surley that's money well spent for a healthy society The cost of one councilor split between 1000 families is minimal.
They need a system were students are encouraged to in confidence tell teachers they have a friend going through issues .
Flaggable trauma such as the death of a family member or parents splitting up should be an automatic trigger for counseling.
Kids that don't fit in and don't have friends is the biggest sign they need help.
This ain't rocket science we just need to build it into our systems

@@historyandhorseplaying7374 Clearly though, stricter gun legislation has helped create an environment in Europe with drastically fewer school shootings.
American politicians have had plenty of time to address the school shooting problem. Gun sales have gone up YoY since the 90s (school shootings and general gun-related fatalities with them) and in 2009 the US became the only country in the world with more guns than citizens. Despite the majority of Americans being in favor of making guns harder to get (the poll was something like 68% last time I checked this summer, boosted by Uvalde for sure but up from above 50%), the NRA, Republican senators, and certain Republican governors, are able to keep the status quo or even make it easier to get guns.
There are of course other things that can be done, but things like fortifying schools and teaching kids how to spot the next school shooter are obviously band-aids on top of a more deeply rooted problem that the political system is currently too compromised to fix.

I grew up in Europe and then was stationed in Europe for years, and I don’t want ANY part of Europe. Trust me, years of living in Germany (among other laces) taught me that I don’t want my country to be anything like Germany.
      B) Guns sales have definitely gone up hugely, which means that guns are very popular. I just read that the number of Ar’s in the US, and keep in mind this is JUST Ar’s, which is only one brand/type of firearm, is more numerous than the number of F-series Ford pick up trucks on the road today (and the F series is one of the most common vehicles in the US today). And that’s not even taking into account all the other myriad of other types of firearms available. So clearly, they are popular and are in what the Supreme Court termed “common use”. Therefore, it is not true that the majority of Americans think firearms should be “harder to get”, that is, “harder” for ordinary citizens to get. It is not “the NRA” who is doing this - I’ve never been a member of the NRA- it is the PEOPLE who are in favor of the status quo. I keep hearing the old chestnut about the “NRA” and “Republicans”-- but yet everyone I know, none of whom is NRA or Republican, feels the same way.

The doors need to be bullet resistant which is feasible. Some wealthy homes have them. The panic alarm is great, then too law enforcement should have a quick response team that is trained to breach to a barricaded suspect and the AR15's to be able to match the criminal's fire power. Something about American society has gone badly wrong in the past 20 years for this to keep happening, why is it US young people now suffer so much despair and anger, a lot of them have no hope for the future either they just see themselves stuck in a low wage job pointlessly toiling until they die. Or look at Elliot Rodger he had big problems fitting in with people, it seems in the 1950's it was a lot easier to fit in, find your high school sweetheart, settle down marry have kids and be happy. But now people aren't marrying, childbirth is down a lot, people are a lot lonelier and less happy than ever before.
People are just focusing on gun ownership which is like focusing on 1 symptom rather than focusing on the cause. If all of a sudden lots of people started driving into walls at full speed you wouldn't be asking questions about accelerator peddles and brakes, you would be asking why people are doing this now.

To be a police officer requires 6 months of intensive training (and a certificate/badge awarded afterward) just to enter the field. To be a detective requires years of TRAINING (that means classes, etc), as well as experience. Anyway, there is nothing more “credentialy” than a BADGE, awarded after the training/experience. Furthermore, experience clearly also makes one an expert. Someone who’s been doing heart surgery for decades is clearly more of an EXPERT than someone who just yesterday got their MD. Someone who’s been piloting aircraft for decades is clealry more of an expert than someone who just got their pilots license yesterday, and infinitely more so than someone who’s never entered an aircraft in their life. This father is the “person who’s never entered an aircraft in their life”, yet is trying to speak with authority on flying aircraft… or doing heart surgery… or making widgets… or whatever activity that they have no experience nor training to be involved in. He may not be less CAPABLE to speak-- in that he is certainly eligible to apply to his local police department and beginning accumulating training and experience. My 18 year year old son is just as CAPABLE as me to begin to accumulate knowledge, but doens’t have it yet. to say that this guy is as able as I am to speak on this subject, would be like saying that someone who’s never even finished high school is just as able to speak intelligently about heart surgery as a surgeon is. That’s why courts have “subject matter experts” come and speak to issues in court cases- not random people off the street. As for “there is no school of how to stop…”. On the contrary- one of the missions of law enforcement is to PREVENT CRIME. There are literally many, many schools and training on how ot prevent all kinds of crime, including shootings.

Ain’t gonna happen, I mean nice effort, genuine thoughts but not realistic...900 million guns in circulation in the world, in the USA one can buy, borrow, steal a gun anywhere. Schools have proven time and time they are really easy, easy, super easy targets, met with little to no resistance to infiltration, shooting fish in a bucket. Unless Combat experienced soldiers are protecting the school there is little to no hope, as proven over and over again, that School Resource or Local Law Enforcement are of little help. What’s really funny is all these kids playing mortal combat blood guts hunt down your targets video games curl up numb when reality checks in that now their being hunted the blood is real the screaming is real the smells are real. In my day we didn’t have such blood lust games, our school shooting left 2 dead 4 injured with 12 gauge pellets inside them, ha we were back in school the next day so what made us tougher to endure such an attack, our Principal said it best “ when it’s your time it’s your time, accept the Lords invitation to be by his side “.

yeah what will the solution be? probably they'll end up with automated AI controlled tranquilizer gun turrets, they will be in every hallway and when the AI senses someone with a gun it'll shoot a tranq dart lol. But the problem is the US high school students will probably take apart the tranq darts and drink the liquid to get high...

They tried that and it doesn't work. Gunmen only respond to a crime after it's been committed. If you stop the crime from happening in the first place, you don't need them. So just do that instead.
