    16:17 to answer your question, yes. Regardless of gender, they will mount each other as a display of dominance. Sometimes a doe will mount a buck meaning she is ready to breed. Not all does will mount a buck. Note, not a rabbit expert by all means, looking to start a colony myself but I have raised rabbits for a few years. Hope this helps anyone who reads this..

      So much to learn, but I’m on the right track. Good advice thanks. We’re having a lot of fun with these rabbits and they sure do love winter.

    You could litter train them,I have 3 in my porch that’s like a second living room,so I bought one those storage bins that go under bed , put some hay in there ,if they have accident, pick it up and put it in the box if it’s Pee take paper towel dip it in the pee and put it in the box ,they will always have accidents,but you won’t have to clean as much,I do put unscented litter in the box ,then pee pads over that,or if you get boxes a lot ,you can cut them use at the bottom then hay going across the back,just a idea

    They can really bite,when I bonded the 3 I have in the porch,it took awhile I separated the porch for awhile,I have 2 females one male,so females would fight but now they all lay together,life is good

    Sweet and beautiful buns abound!! Auntie Olive is growing on bigger Billy now too. Looks like Chunk wants to run the rabbit den as he is pretending to be king of the castle 🏰. This is one fun farm with great looking carrots from the garden!! Sending hugs to you all🍁

    Gender doesn't really matter with mounting. Rabbits do it as a dominance thing, so buck>doe, buck>buck, doe>buck, or doe>doe.
    As far as sexing goes, does will have a slit, or it kind of looks like a hardshell taco, whereas bucks will have a more circular shape, some say it's a donut or burrito. It does look quite different when they are adults but once you know what you're looking for, it's not too difficult to distinguish the differences.

    Just found your channel! Do you know bunnies can be litter box trained? I would use a cement mixing tub, put some sand and poop in it and see how that works. Sure would save you a lot of time :)

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I did know that and I did try. But I used wood pellets maybe they didnt like it cause they never used it. I’ll setup a box with sand when I get a chance & see how it works out. Thanks so much.

    I really love your homestead/farm setup. I like how you think about animals and how you take care of them. Wonderful! I am curious if you ever leave on trips or anything and how do you do that. I want to get into this kind of animal variety but might have to leave for a week once every year or two. I do not know the best thing for that as I do not have a network of people who are into this kind of thing.

    I think you would find that same 5 gallon bucket and a flat square point shovel would have been less expensive than the vaccume and with that many rabbits don't let it accumulate past a week 4-5 days is better and you won't have sickness or flys as bad either and sexing the rabbit the doe has a v shape down below the male has a pogo stick till his balls drop and gloves will keep you from being scratched and bitten they have some really good teeth as well

  • @gouldschick101
    @gouldschick101 ปีที่แล้ว

    LOL haha the geese theybacked off when they saw you wouldn't tho love it. it's off season but why not see if you can incubate those eggs, see what sort of fertility rate they have going? I love olive's relationship with billy and slowly also bobby.

    • @HiddenSpringFarm

      We’ll I ate scrambled goose eggs the other day and it was a fertile egg cause I could see the small white dot on the yolk. Huge yolk too.

    Bucks will mount bucks .... they are just very energetic to mate is all. If they do not have a female they make do. Kinda sad but true. Eventually they will mellow out and be good. Now if you see a mating take ... falling over then you can be confident of the bucks vs does. Don't feel bad about not getting it right. I myself have had the same issues. I thought I got it right and ended up with litters that were not meant to be.
