Squatting is the healthiest way of snapping a log.

Awkward topic but informative - makes a lot of sense when you explain it - great video mate! I regularly struggle when in Bali with Bali Belly. Definitely some food for thought. Cheers mate

I have learnt to take a survival kit especially for my kids. My kit consist of toilet paper, large ziplock bag and a brown paper bag. Use the toilet paper but put it in the ziplock bag and when done place it into the brown bag and dispose of at the next rubbish bin.
    Good video.

Hi Muzza. Thanks for covering an awkward subject. You made me laugh out loud. I hope you got to wash your hands after being in that toilet.
I have used one of those in my own private bathroom on Gilii Meno, one of the islands off lombok.
Apparently with the hose thing. You are meant to do what you have to do. Use the hose to clean. In theory you should be clean. Then use toilet paper to dry and put the toilet paper in the basket/bin as the toilet paper can clog up the pipe work. I am in Bali atm and enjoying this beautiful weather. We have been lucky as the rain has stopped for the past few days. Off to Kutabex tonight to listen to some rock n roll. Thanks for all your videos. They are very informative and I admire you for all the help you provide to the Balinese people.

PS I can't remember if I had a hose at gili meno. But I had a shower. The whole thing was very difficult cos firstly you got to be able to crouch and not lose your balance lol

Muzza love the detailed Bali view.
I will be back in Bali late in year adter knee replacement recovery.
Now I do need western toilets, as I only have a left arm 😅 , l lost my right arm in a work place accident .
So I have a problem with the left hand right hand rule 😊.
Enjoy beautiful Bali, I first trip was in 1988.

    I'd be spraying the walls
Then dunking my ass in the water

More places now have both European toilets and squat toilets now in restaurant s and cafes in bali..

Hi Murray, what is wrong with fitting a toilet bowl over the hole.I have seen that done numerous times, and in some very out of the way places.
Also I think your theory on bali belly is far fetched,I mean its possible, but kitchen hygiene is more likely the reason.

    • @MurrayWilkinson1
      @MurrayWilkinson1  ปีที่แล้ว

Throughout many parts of the world a "squat Toilet" is considered a better and more natural way to do your business. Most restaurants and almost all hotels have western toilets, especially in built up areas, but in the rest of indonesia you better be prepared to squat.

Practice 'n your bath tub , before going to Bali with a mug of water . Then smell your fingers . I hope it didn't splatter all over your feet . Just jocking . Great advice and lessons .

This is quite informative and I thank you very much for it!
But, it is also a bity scary.
Women, wearing trousers or long skirts, are a bit sunk I'd reckon.
I would refuse to use any "facilities" which had Turkish Toilets. for clear hygiene's sake!
It all looks so bloody dirty to my eyes.
    I am a clean / a neat freak.
What is truly bloody awful, is cleaning your bum off with your hand! God ... I can barely even think about it. 😩😩😩😩
See, if I could not wash my hands off at all after cleaning my bum with my left hand, I'd get quite ill in a jiffy!

Not a huge fan of the SQUATTY.
Shame they dont have a Bum Gun included in the Expieriance....😁
    Yep....absolutely right...
Even just picking up a food bowl and a couple utensils, its anything you/they touch...
Have long family connections with locals and they are regulary sick....
Usually they just say, 'feeling little bit sick today'.....
Also in a number of videos ive been watching lately on Plant Nurseries and specialist growers, I have noticed a lot of the men have Very Long THUMB NAILS.
Not sure if they do this for their work to tip prune or for scraping the soil in the potted plants....
But EVERY time I see it in a vlog I wonder if its for scraping CRUSTYS.
    😁😆😅🤣🤮

Sorry muzza don't like this practise I always try to use a western toilet, plus I find it too hard to squat down when you have had a knee replacement. Keep plenty of wet wipes handy.

Try being a left hander and trying to be culturally sensitive. I had to sit on my left hand when I first went to my partners village.
Also, when using the squat toilet and having to take off your pants/undies they are going to get wet as most of the bathrooms are very wet on the floor, no surprise to be standing in water.

This is a serious subject and your info was informative. However your facial expressions curled me up. I have been going to Bali/Indonesia for 46 years and I have been fortunate to having to use these Balinese toilets twice.
