That SG kind of looks like someone may have replaced the fret board. But if the seller is going to refinish it and rewire it with setup I say Sergio go for it.
I think Gibson should do a line called Cobra woth the Cobra headstock and snake skin finish. Likely be a shredder type with a tremolo or the new bridge they're advertising possibly switchable pots .
Sometimes I think about the guy who implied Trogly was running out of ideas over the holidays, then I think about the last four or five vids that have just been so good. This one was great too, ha. I love learning about the history of these guitars. It’s so dang pinteresting.
@@GrayEdenfield I used to gig a 2002 MIK Epiphone LP Custom in high school, my dad found it on Craigslist for 300 bucks. Really liked it. The first time I played a Gibson in a store, I was shocked that people pay 10 times that for essentially the same playing experience. Now I’m an 80s Kramer guy.
@@GrayEdenfieldI actually love epiphone. They were good enough for The Beatles, I think I’m good playing them 😂 don’t get me wrong, the only guitar I’ll pay for Gibson on the headstock is the SG and I love mine.
@@zombieparrot2606Epiphone in the 60s was a high end U.S. luthier made instrument the same as Gibson was. The name is all that's left of it and it's being dragged through the mud by Gibson using it as a squier equivalent. Sad! Except for the recent custom shop U.S. made Casinos by Gibson, and that's only because the beatles used them like you said.
Someone brought a Slash Rosso Corsa into my shop today, looking to sell. It had the way too deep serial, which was the first thing I saw and knew immediately. It seemed like a decent guitar in its own right, but it was a Chibson. I've never seen a Chibson get the 'wings' right on the back of the headstock. I opened up the back for fun, and the cavities are also always a dead giveaway.
I had to have a new nut installed on a 2013 Les Paul Custom Lite because the entire nut was cut badly (low E string spacing off, high E too close to the edge) *and* new saddles because the spacings were uneven. It shouldn't happen, it does, and $130 later it's my go-to Paul.
One of the first things i notice right away on a fake gibson is the toggle switch. They nut that holds the toggle switch in the guitar is more wide than a chibson, similar to epiphones.
Quite a few people today thinks older Gibsons are fake.. Last one was an '81 Les Paul RX that had been heavily modified, another one was a '70s Les Paul.
@@garettturbettmusic yes, there was a Les Paul model that came from the factory with mini humbuckers. Gibson created that model in 1969 to satisfy demand for more new Les Pauls, and to use up the surplus of Epiphone mini humbuckers sitting around since the early 60's.
I’m a lefty, but my local shop said it would be easier to learn to play righty, because there’s more guitars around (this was in 1994), but I’m curious about the history of Lefty Gibsons. (I’m the weird guy that can play guitar and bass righty, but I’m much more comfortable lefty on drums.😂)
I'm left handed and play right handed. but I have thought about getting a left handed guitar. and try to learn to play left handed. that way I could play the guitar both ways. it would be a cool novelty to freak people out playing both ways. but then I got thinking about it. and that would be about the only benefit to doing that. so I sorta dropped the idea.
@@HarryRenner-h9q look up Michael Angelo Batio, he’s famous for custom two and four neck guitars (mounted on stands) that he can tap with both hands at the same time.
Always funny to me, that Gibson sues the pants off everyone; and their dc pro was a ripoff of the prs Santana (which itself is a ripoff of the Lp Junior)
Those snake head headstocks are sorta rare. and they are much better than the regular Gibson headstocks. because of the strait string pull. that guitar has a few issues but for the right price. it's definitely a good working progress. myself I like those headstocks.
So i have 2 epiphones and i just got a chibson for 250$ and honestly it plays realy good and once i upgrade the electronics and set it up it will be a serious weapo.
That is a Lefty Les Paul Supreme and looks 100% authentic to me based on the quick view of it I had. Looks funny in Lefty though. Should go for it at the $1500 they sell for more than 3000 all day most places. Does it say where it is?
Ya know... With all your knowledge and expertise, it would be awesome to team up with making a affordable guitar with your name. I'm building a 90 buck kit now. 2 full days work, 100 bucks in changes and materials. Bulk ordering could get everything down to about 120 ish... Just a thought...
In person I have seen more fake Supremes than real ones Headstock shape, knob alignment, truss rod cover, inlay (one read as a “Sapremo” for example) Definitely would be careful about buying a Supreme.
I wonder if there are fake Gibsons that are so perfect in everything that it would be impossible to tell the difference. But in that case they would count as genuine Gibsons for all practical purposes, so the whole speculation becomes moot.
I wonder if the Snakehead headstock has the same angle as a traditional Les Paul. I mean they could kill two birds with one stone by giving it a shallower angle and using that headstock. Although I have to say it’s a little bit funny looking. You would think that they might use the Apple phone brand to try some more experimental things instead of just trying to do cheaper version of Gibson’s. Anyway, whatever… There are a million Guitar companies out there and probably enough guitars for every man, woman and child in the country.
@@johnnyxmusic It looks to me that the DC pro does have a shallower 14 degree angle. There are loads of other brands that have solved the issues but it would be nice as far as I'm concerned if Gibson were prepared to be bold and keep up with improvements in design.

Why do the deluxe have mini humbuckers? Do they sound any different than normal humbuckers? Or are they just to fit in a p90 rout?
