  • Here is definitely one of the more unusual trucks that I've seen over the years! Sitting a top this slick Autocar ACX chassis is a Labrie Expert Dual Helping-Hand automated side load body! As the name implies, this rig features not one, but two automated arms - one on the curb side of the body, and one on the street side. This truck is used to handle tight alleys in a single pass, as well as to collect one-way streets without having to go against traffic or have all of the containers moved to one side of the street. This rather unique truck is seen here collecting residential yard waste on a beautiful late-summer's morning! I hope you all enjoy the video!
I would of course like to take a moment to extend my thanks to the driver for providing the community with excellent, professional service!
    Thanks for watching!

I used to live in Spokane like 6 or7 years ago and back then there were no Labrie experts at all. The only trucks were Wayne curbtenders. I have not been up in Spokane forever so it's cool to see what has changed. Very cool truck!

Nice, simple arm design. It won't beat the truck to death, but I'd really like to see the packer in action . (I'm a 25 year trash truck mechanic)
I grew up in Spokane but haven't been back since I joined the service in 72.

Loved 3:15, vids in the tight confines of an alley are always fun to watch and film. Much enjoyed. Still not a fan of these trucks, the small hopper is made even smaller with the extra arm taking up so much room, but the driver has a great handle on its limits, making sure to shake every cart for complete emptying without being to aggressive and causing spills. Now if Labrie doubled up with the RAV arm on the Automizer body they'd be onto something...

+georgewuzheer That was definitely what got me so stoked here, was watching this truck handle these extremely tight alleys. The operator made the whole thing look like a breeze, major props to him! The push for dual-arm ASLs has me real excited, I think it's a missing link that cities like this need to either implement an automated collection system in the first place, or maximize the efficiency of those that already exist. What disappoints me is that, thus far, the only dual-arm bodies out there are all on drop-frame, MSL-styled units. If you're going to essentially be doubling the frequency at which material is entering the hopper, you're going to need as much hopper capacity as you can get. Something like the Amrep or former Pendpac arm is what you need for this application - narrow profile, long reach (for one-way streets), zero swing-out (for these tight alleys), and could most certainly be easily mounted to both sides of a full-sized hopper, without taking up precious hopper space. But those are just my thoughts ;)

+Thrash 'N' Trash Productions We're in agreement then. It's only a matter of time before someone wises up and does it, question is who? Labrie, Bridgeport, maybe a dual arm ZR?

I believe we have seen the last of the Dual arm trucks. I doubt they will be ordering any more. We currently have 5 in our fleet and if a driver is caught using the left side arm on a street they get in trouble. In alleys they help tons as we only need one pass down an alley now to clean it however there are alleys that should not have an automated side loader at all and we are still picking up in them.
