I recently read a book called "The Sleep Solution: Why Your Sleep is Broken and How to Fix it" by W. Chris Winter, MD (he's a neurologist). This book includes all of the tips Dr. Mattu suggested and more! I found it to be very helpful and educating on sleep & common issues with sleep.

I just wanted to say thank you. I usually get anxiety before falling asleep and within a few minutes I wake up more anxious. You’re videos and knowledge helped me so much this and they gave me hope for better days.

That's like all of my 10th grade. I had HORRIBLE sleep hygiene. Didn't help that my school started way early at 7am. Teenagers actually need later wake up times. There's a big mismatch between high school start times and teenage biology.

This was really helpful advice! One question I wish you'd asked the caller is if he uses an alarm clock. It sounds like he doesn't, since he wakes up on his own. If he does, he could give himself the simple suggestion that "I will wake up when my alarm goes off." I say this because in high school I used to always wake up well before my alarm until I started telling myself each night that I would wake up when my alarm goes off; after that, I'd only wake up a minute or two before it went off. Our brains know what time it is and can reset accordingly.
Also, I thought your advice that he go to bed earlier was excellent.

On your point of circadian clock. What role does eating play. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting and have heard how we are supposed to follow the circadian clock in terms of our eating habits. Might this influence the late burst of energy the caller had at night?

Very helpful. It would be nice you spoke to more people with similar issues but not the same. For example I can get a lot of sleep but never feel rested the next day.
The more case studies you help the more people you should end up helping.
    Thanks for the video :)

I was diagnosed with very high cortisol levels two weeks ago after suffering with bad sleep and tiredness for months. I also have chronic pain which can keep me up for hours. Any thoughts on how I can improve my sleep? Or how to build a good sleep hygiene routine?

Yeah, this is probably a good video for me. My mental health team has always tried to convince me to have better sleep hygiene but I guess I just haven’t really taken that advice very seriously. At least this video offers great, easily digestible advice on how to get there once I start to take it seriously 😅
If I may say, I love the purple in the background as it is my favourite colour. However, I also really liked the “clutter” and the “homeyness” of the background of your last set. Currently it seems a little harsh side.
You have such a friendly face and voice, and I let out a cheer for you when I saw your last video. Congratulations on this new chapter in your life, and I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for us!! 😄
