I mean from the looks of it are they are using their 'fins' to manipulate space/time which means they could use them to fire off some type of beam weapon...
5:29 HAHAHA!!! Cute!!! I totally lost it!!! Ezra as Ishmael, Thrawn as Ahab, and Chopper as Queequeg. With Kanan as the hippie from Futurama come to save the whales.
Adding a bit to this excellent video, the largest Purrgils are called Purrgil Ultra and are the 'leaders' of the pack, as seen on the one Ezra is riding in the mining episode and also, at the end of the Rebels series, the one that gets directly in front of the Star Destroyer.
Y'know, one question I've always had is was there ever a blaster powered by a kyber crystal, or is this even possible? Could be an interesting video concept
Mega Bread In one of the newer comics, Jocasta Nu fights Darth Vader with a (sniper?) blaster rifle that uses a lightsaber as the power source. The Jedi using it sticks their lightsaber into a slot at the top and then fires away. Insanely powerful.
The only real downside was that the weapon could only fire so many shots before it would destroy itself because of the raw energy emited by the kyber crystal. The death star itself was also powered by kyber crystals, I think, not so sure about that.
More or less, you’re right. The actual station was powered by a hypermatter reactor core, but the main weapon had tributary lasers that flowed through kyber crystals to then merge together in order to form the full-sized beam.
Hyperspace confuses me so much like it’s another dimension but you can still collide with objects. The Purrgil are a super cool addition to the universe though. I hope we see them in a movie or something.
MASTER NERVIN if there is, dear God please let it shoot a laser out if the top of it's head or from it's eyes! Hey, if you're going to dream, dream BIG! 😂
Because Star trek put more forethought into it's universe than Star Wars in which how much stuff works is an after thought. Star Trek usually designed a ship's entire interior near the beginning of when said ship was introduced into Trek, meanwhile in Star Wars ships are designed sometimes long before their interiors are explored in a reference book. The universes are much the same way comparatively. Although Star Wars actually shows civilian traffic and many different ship styles coming from a species it's usually considered less realistic due to this reason that branches out into every aspect you can imagine, want to know how Endor's moon can sustain life? We'll explore it years from now in some essential guide! Want to know how warp drive works in Trek? It's already there for you to read or hear.
If there are an infinite amount of dimensions, hyperspace is probably realy. Until we find a way to get to different dimensions, then we will most definitely find a way to get to insane speeds.
@@whimbur Yeah Clone Wars was mostly about the duality of the glory and terror of war and leading to a conclusion we already know the outcome of, while Rebels was more about building up to a possible conclusion.
I tried to like Rebels, but it just didn't grab me. Maybe it was largely due to the fact that I wanted it to focus exclusively on actual Rebels vs Empire stuff, and way less on the Jedi/mystical elements that constantly crept in and overshadowed that element. Something more in the vein of Rogue One basically.
For some weird reason my brain transposed "Porg" over "Purrgil" when I read the vid title leading to a "What the heck? Those over sized Penguin-quails inspired hyperdrives? How???" moment... I need to read more carefully sometimes.
I absolutely loved the purrgils. The universe is a HUGE place and the idea that there can be creatures of space that actually possess powers and abilities that inspire people to create technology to be similar is very realistic. But it would not surprise me if the purrgils are still superior to anything that people have created here still. After all, even in today's standards, humans have not even come CLOSE to the level of power that spider webs possess. Or how whales can go to the deepest areas of the ocean, with water pressure that not even the most sophisticated technology humanity created to ever hope to go through without being crushed. It wouldn't surprise me if the purrgils could journey through even uncharted territories in wild space, like how Lira San is beyond an imploded star cluster. There could be many more creatures like the purrgils that possess something that cannot even be fathomed. The purrgils might even be harnessing the powers of the Force to an unfathomable degree than Jedis or Siths can realize even. After all, the purrgils were stated to be on a LONG journey.

*I’m actually surprised by the poll on here about rebels* I liked rebels. Btw please don’t get me started on Star Wars hyperspace it’s all wrong against real science..... if you shift into a dimension where the laws of general relativity don’t apply which is *subspace* you can’t hit anything so no need for hyper space lanes.
Hyperspace is diffirent to subspace - and while it's other dimension, mass leave its trace in hyperspace, so it's not simply to survive blind jump without hyperdrive safeties
Kuba Król no subspace is hyperspace and nothing is left I don’t know who’s work your consulting but maybe find it again. I’m not talking fiction I’m talking real quantum inter dimension physics and I didn’t mention that when meta nurdz dude just described a gavametric distortion drive by warping time and space within a localised field (around you) means you’ve lifted your self out of the gavametric fabric of the galaxy essential you don’t move the galaxy does. Hyperspace is different
When you explained how hyperspace actually worked my first thought went to how they destroyed a giant ship in the sequels with hyperspace which showed just how stupid kathleen kennedy was
what I thought was gonna happen at the end of the star wars rebels episode when the whales were about to appear: *What I thought/wanted to happen when Ezra said backup was coming: Thrawn hears sound of blaster fire over the radio, the imperial officer exclaims "impossible" before the transmission cuts off Ezra too Thrawn: Take a look Thrawn peers out of the window, out from the fog emerges about 4 Munificent-class droid frigates and a swarm of vulture droids, gun blazing, commanded by the super tactical droid Kalani who had managed to build up and reactivate an old droid fleet and army. The droid fleet proceeds to annihilate the imperial star destroyers, which were taken by complete surprise instead in reality: Space whales ._.
They probably move by warping space time, like how they go into hyspace, they might also be able to warp past lightspeed, (because they can change space time around them) they just don't warp because hyper space is so much faster
I'm still kind of a fan of how Hyperdrives were created in Legends with the Devaronians and the Gossams producing their own primitive version whereas the Duros and Corellians did so from reverse engineering Rakatan drives in comparison to the purrgil concept of canon. But that's just me. Nothing wrong with space whales. :o
I know people around don't like "Rebels" ("blah blah Clone Wars blah blah") but I have to say I really loved the ending and I find it really creative :)
Huh... So the Death Star was able to weaponize Hyperfuel and 'Amplify' it power with Kyber crystals to produce the superlaser, which is a complicated way of saying that Kyber crystals are able to create energy from nothing. That really goes against the fundamental law of nature; Conservation of energy (Energy cannot be created nor destroyed), so still no idea how that suppose to work. Also, that Star Destroyer bridge Ezra and Thrawn were on; were definitely exposed to vacuum when they entered Hyperspace, so I'm not sure how they would survive that!
The infinite empire figuring out how to make hyperdrive technology by hunting/ observation of the space whales seems perfectly logical to me so Cannon and Legends could theoretically both be correct
Silly little nitpick here; if you are using cryogenic suspension you don’t have a ‘generation ship’ you have a ‘sleeper ship.’ A true generation ship would have at least nearly everyone on the crew live out their lives have kids and then raise this new generation to replace themselves as the crew, hence generation ship.
Yeah you're right. I knew that, love issac Arthur videos on that kind of stuff, so good catch. And awesome to see someone that corrects online without being an ass
So is there going to be a probe sent that is looking for the Purrgil, and it doesn't find them because they're extinct, and so the crew has to travel back in time and collect a mating pair and bring them to the future to save the galaxy - would make for a good 4th Movie. Star Wars: The Voyage Home
Still, does not change the fact. These things jumped into Hyperspace while in the atmosphere of a planet. I am sorry I keep recalling that should be impossible. As it is very very bad to jump into or out of Hyperspace next anything with high gravity wells.
