      It seems trap on 2:05 dont work or is not finished. As loglen here stated Na5 seems to fix the problem to not loose officer?!
      Very nice find with Na5.. also the variation: Na5, Qa4+, Bd7, Bb5 seems to not give a lot advantage for white. I think Na5, dxe6, Nxc4, exf7+, Kf8, Qd4 or Qd5 is best option for white. Black will either have to move night to e5 (looses the d pawn) or back to a5(missplaced knight) or try protect knight with c5.
      White has a pesky pawn on f7, but i think black will win it.. just needs to prepare it a bit?...
      Is there any better variation?

      @niravapurv4578 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah there is also Na5, Qd4, protecting bishop on c4, but with a double threat still on e6 but now also on g7.
      Black infact dont have time to protect g7 because he will lose the bishop on e6. So black has to move the bishop or take the withe bishop... if black move the bishop white can take on g7 and attack rook. So its most likely better to take bishop with Bxc4... but then white can still take on g7 and when rook go f7... white can take bishop on e6.. still dont win a officer... but black a bit chattered.. very unclear situation or?

    Answer: Do the queen sacrifice Qxf7+
    Black can respond in one of 2 ways
    If he goes kh8, then Qxf8 is a checkmate
    So he is forced to capture the queen with his rook. After that, you play Re8+. The black king's rook is now pinned and can't block, which makes it a checkmate.

    • @JerodimusPrime
      @JerodimusPrime 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the move is actually Queen takes F7. The Queen sac forces the Rook to take else it's mate in 2. However you follow this up with Rook to E8 Checkmate. The rook is unable to block the check because of the Bishop pin, thereby it's a Back Rank Checkmate. It's a common forcing line you should remember, because it happens more often than people realize.

      Are we talking about the position @14:20? If so, the queen can't capture the rook, that would be an illegal move. The only legal moves after Queen x F7 are King to H8 or Rook x Queen, both of which lead to a mate in 1.

    You are always very optimistic. In 11:10 if white doesn´t take with the knight, but with the bishop, then white has increased positional advantage, I guess.

    1) The Italian Gambit (4.d4!?) or
    2) The line 4.c3 Nf6 5.d4 exd4 6.O-O Nxe4 7.cxd4 ... - you did not mention these 2 lines in your video.
    Thanks for your thoughts (or maybe even for another video on these 2 lines?)

      The first line you mentioned almost looks like a worse version of the Scotch game (1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. d4), which is very playable.
      If you want an aggressive gambit that starts immediately after 3. Bc4 Bc5, I would highly recommend the Evans gambit 4. b4, which is incredibly tricky and has even been played by super GMs in rapid tournaments. I play it and I like it because you get absolutely lightning fast development while holding onto center control, at the cost of just a measly b-pawn. And there are so many ways for black to go wrong.

    I found another variation on the second trap. After 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. O-O Nf6 5. d3 d6 6. Bg5 h6 7. Bh4 g5 8. Bg3 h5 9. Nxg5 h4 10. Nxf7 hxg3 11. Nxd8 Bg4 12. Qd2 Nd4 , Stockfish recommends the move 13. h3 for white. Igor didn't mention this option, so I looked into it myself. Black responds with 13... Ne2+, after which white will most likely play 14.Kh1, which brings mate in two: 14... Rxh3+ 15.gxh3 Bf6#. Black's alternative is 14.Qxe2 Bxe2, which attacks the rook on f8. If white tries to save the rook with 15.Rc1, then play continues 15... Bxf2+ 16.Kh1 Rxh3+ 17.gxh3 Bf6#. White's best choice after Bxe2 is to save his own knight with 15.Ne6 Bb6 (black saving his bishop) 16. Nc3 Bxf1 17.Kxf1. That leads to a fairly equal game with black having won a rook for a bishop and two pawns, so material calculates out as even. Black will be unable to castle with the knight on e6, so he will have to play a move like Kd7 to free his queen's rook, but as compensation, he has a lot of pressure on white's king. There are only two games in the Lichess database with this position. Both are between the same 1850+ player for white and 1900+ player for black, and both ended in draws.
    Playing these traps often carry risks if the opponent makes all the right moves, so it's good when you can still draw against a strong opponent.
    As for the puzzle, the move is Qxf7+. If black plays Rxf7, white follows with Re8#. Black's rook is pinned on f7, so he cannot interpose. If instead of Rxf7, black plays Kh8 (his only alternative), then Qxf8 is checkmate.

    Edit: Just checked the other comments and saw that I was wrong. I had the right idea, though. Just had the mental block of "I've got a queen and bishop battery, so I HAVE TO remove the defender and deliver Qf7+ mate". Maybe next time.
    Answer to the puzzle: Re8. If rook takes or any other move that does nothing, Qf7+ mate (rook is pinned). If queen protects the rook with Qe7, take the queen. If Qd8, it's still mate. If Nh6 to add a defender to the f7 square, just Rxf8 Kxf8 Qxd6+ and you're mating in a few more moves after bringing your other rook.
    I'm actually not entirely confident that I have the right answer, so feel free to blow holes in my solution :)

    Queen captures on F7 sac the Queen when rook take then white rook goes on E8 checkmate. Now if king moves then Queen captures rook on F8 is also checkmate do to the back rank weakness from black. That's why black should not capture the dark square bishop on G5. Lead's obviously to a force mate regardless of what black does.

    That one is nice with the back rank rook queen sack mate is what I'm guessing the move you said to right in the comments I'm going to see if I'm right and finish watching

    • @kennymitchell3020
      @kennymitchell3020 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok you didn't show it but you check with the queen they are forced to take or get mated then you can mate them with your rook while you have the pin with your bishop.

    14:20 I would say rook e8 , sac the rook then use the queen to deliver check , deflecting the king in the corner , captur the rook on the next turn and it's a forcing back rank mate?

    • @andrewferguson6901
      @andrewferguson6901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a more forcing line, queen check on f7 first

    • @boborandomness4477
      @boborandomness4477 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you do that, its not a check so black has time to prepare knight or queen on E7, but if you force check with QxF7, they have no escape.
      if rook takes queen, white rook checkmates on E8, and if king goes to G8, queen captures rook on F8 and checkmates. ;)

    • @niravapurv4578
      @niravapurv4578 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boborandomness4477 Qxf7+ is definitely a check. Only 2 legal moves for black. Rxf7 witch is followed by Re8 mate. Or Kh8, witch is followed by Qxf8 mate.

    • @niravapurv4578
      @niravapurv4578 ปีที่แล้ว

      Re8 is interesting. But its not a forcing move. You lost a chance to play a forced checkmate in 2 moves. And black can leave the rook on e8 and find some way to defend e7 better.
      I think after Re8, black can survive with Qf6, and then whites rook on e8 is hanging and black is a pawn up... perhaps weak pawn. A bit more unclear i guess, but looks to me white is stil pressing and black struggles to get out the bishop and connect rooks.
      Black can also try Be6. I think if Be6 i think rook on e8 is difficult to protect and now queen is attacked so white will have to play Rxf8+, black play Rxf8, then white need to move the queen somewhere it still defends the bishop on c4.

  • @chessarchitect812
    @chessarchitect812 ปีที่แล้ว

    My answer: white plays queen takes f7(sac the queen) and after black plays rook takes f7, white plays rook e8 checkmate.

    the best move at 14 : 25 is rook to E8 then rook takes rook at E8 next queen takes pawn on F7 pinning the rook and the king and for black king to H8 is the only logical move next queen takes rook at E8 delivering a beautiful check mate !!!!!

    • @namedperson1436
      @namedperson1436 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is ok, but it is not forcing. After Rook E8 Your opponent may play bishop E6 for instance (forcing a rook exchange AND forcing queen to move away from the attack). Always look for pins and forcing lines, that way you don't have to calculate as much.
      Queen sacrifice on E7 forces either rook E7 recapture or king moving back. In both of those cases it is #M1 either by backrank mate from Rook on E8 or from queen on F8.
      Don't let the possible material gain blind you from the real strategy at play.

      I'd assume the original plan to pin the knight with Bg4. Not sure how to continue from there. If they take the pawn on g5, you push your h pawn, retreat your knight or attack the pinned knight with your other knight?
