Why are so many wonderful pieces of music not available on CD? I love "having" them rather than just having access to them. Of course, it's better to hear it on TH-cam than not hear it at all, so, thanks for uploading.

What a life affirming symphony. The first movement made me want to get up and do something; I'm not sure what but something.

A really beautiful Symphony from a great talented artist, ten years elder than Smetana who collaborated with him. Unfortunately he had a nervous breakdown at 36 and never recovered, dying still young. Curiously, like Smetana number four is in all his dates. For sure he could have still written great things like this symphony. Third movement is at fantastic, Dvorakian level, and all this Symphony really makes me thinking to beloved Prague. An huge thank you for sharing.

    Magnifique Merci Kuhlau

The coda of the last movement is everything a Romantic symphony should be. It leaves the listener completely satisfied.

This is a very pleasing work indeed. It reminds me of the early Dvorak symphonies, of which I am particularly fond. There's an over-arching of sweetness coupled with silvery light that is enchanting. A gentle work most certainly.

There must have been, at least at those times, an ambiance, an aura in the atmosphere of that lovely region of Europe, Bohemia, the southern of Deutschland, Österreich that inebriated its inhabitants with its natural beauty where Mother Nature shed her grace upon the geography of the region and all its living creatures making it possible to create these works of art. This lovely music produces the impression that there is a dialogue going on between the composer and Mother Nature. Exquisite symphony. It makes me dream of beautiful and pleasant landscapes, cordial and harmonious conviviality.

Love the painting of Prague's Staroměstské náměstí with open umbrellas.

Compositori Cecchi. Czechoslovakia as a state was founded in 1918, this year we celebrate the 100th aniversary. Czechoslovakian nation was a political construction of the founder and the first president of Czechoslovakia Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. In 1993 Czechoslovakia splitted down into 2 sovereign states: Czech republic and Slovakia.

Like first light at dawn, this symphony opens the eyes to new promise and all the wonders of nature. Evocative of belief in the beyond and powers beyond observation, Vilem Blodek tugs heart strings, pulls at the nostalgic, and wakens dormant loves lives and wonders

As Blodek wrote this before Dvorak wrote his first one, more likely Dvorak sounds like Blodek. Vilem Blodek deserves to be included with the other "big B's" of music in my estimation.

Charming symphony. But in as much as this symphony is identified as having been written in 1859, and young Dvorak didn't write his first symphony until 1865, it probably shouldn't be described as being in "the Dvorak vein." Perhaps Dvorak's influences weren't only Brahms and Wagner....

It's sad to think that such buoyant music could have been penned by a composer who was afflicted with the same emotional anguish as Robert Schumann. I'm not being sarcastic when I note that it's a shame Europeans didn't know about the uplifting benefits of Matcha green tea back in the 19th Century.
