    I just got my Canadian Bullseye wrap for my Les Paul. This was very informative and the end result gives me hope. I replayed the edges multiple times though, as I've never done this before. Little background, my ex carved a not so nice word into my Les Paul back in 2015 and I haven't been able to even take her out of the case since. I haven't bought played since, as playing anything but that guitar was like driving a Honda after you've flown a fighter jet. So, I'm gonna watch your vid a few dozen more times and try this out. Thank you for posting this bud!

    I am about to do this on. Strat style guitar, and do not want to take bridge off. Your video gave me an idea of how I can still get the skin under the bridge without removing it. If I just leave enough of the skin on bottom of guitar body, I can cut it like you did and pull it up under the bridge. I don’t have to worry about the hole that will be left above, because the pickguard is there and will not be getting covered. Thank you for video, might not have thought of that. Yours is the only video I have found that parts are not totally removed. Thank you for posting!

    I understand how to skin the front and back but how about the sides of the guitar? Do you apply a strip of vinal around the sides and then overlap with the front and back sheets?

    • @noggintube
      @noggintube 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just heat and stretch. It's very tricky around the horn curves though, which is why a lot of people chose to simply wrap the top side only. You can also do it in sections as you mention, but use cutting tape - this allows you to overlap, but then cut and clean both edges so you don't end up with an untidy overlapping section. It takes a fair bit of practice, but worth playing around with if it's what you want. With cutting tape you could also run a length around the top and bottom edge, then cover the back too, so the entire guitar body is covered.

  • @RumbleFish69

    It came out nice, but I don't understand why you wouldn't remove all of the components; including the neck, if the neck comes off. I think that as nice as this came out, it could have come out nicer if all of the components were removed prior to wrapping. I am getting ready to do this myself, that's why I am on this video, but I am treating mine as if were a paint job and removing all of the components and the neck. I am going to seal it after it's done also in the hopes of giving it a better gloss and more protection. Still, this came out nice, so big thumbs up!

    • @Francisco17Berrios
      @Francisco17Berrios 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it's smarter to do the video this way, because if it's impossible to remove something for someone who want to do this, they wouldn't know how to do it, but this video show how is done :)

    • @RumbleFish69
      @RumbleFish69 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Francisco17Berrios I don't know if I would say that it's "smarter".... It's certainly a choice but I would have treated this like any paint job. In fact, when this process is done on cars, pieces are removed in order to make it look like a real paint job. I still think it came out nice, I just we old have taken off as much as possible.

      We haven’t had any issues with this one, I would say tho if you are using a good quality vinyl and do good post heat I don’t see any reason to have issues. Yeah the adhesive on the film sticks hood and ones post hearted won’t come off till you want it to then use a little head and it should come of without leaving any adhesive behind. Hope that answer is helpful to you.

      Don't understand why so many people like this video. If it is supposed to be a how-to video, it's awful. 1, can't even hear a word dude's saying, 2, no explanation on how to get that consistent edge around the side, and 3, there are far better methods for laying vinyl, (i. e. Leaving most of the backing on and folding it under itself and working your way up slowly and pulling the backing off as you go.
      My advice, if you're going to make videos, first, invest in a mic.

      We buy from a local Arlon Distributor in Winnipeg. It all depends on what film you are wanting to use though.

    I just got a couple of guitars wrapped. Is there anything you can put over the wrap to protect it? Spray or wipe on Poly? Lacquer?

    • @TonyLoewen
      @TonyLoewen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get ceramic coatings for vinyl that’s probably what I’d do.

    Nice job! I think the original paint scheme looks great, and don't understand why you would wrap it in plain white, but a thought crossed my mind that it would be cool to wrap it in white like that, and then put some cool decals on top of the white, which would stand out a lot more than they would with the original dark paint. Interesting!

      put a pair of F-holes (like a violin) in the wrap so the original finish shows through the holes

    Doesnt it affect the tone of the guitar? Since it increases the weight of the guitar and must be losing on the tonal quality because of the resonance dampening.

    Why not just remove all the hardware? Leave the neck, but remove the rest and lay down one smooth pull and cut out the openings.

      @TonyLoewen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re right that would be the easiest way to do it but I was just doing to for fun for a buddy and I like to Challenge myself so that I can learn and get a little better with ever little or big project.

    As someone you wraps vehicles and other objects for living, please do not use any of the techniques this video. The vinyl is going to peel at the edges because of the way its stretched. Always work from the middle out. Never cut out sections before applying as you create weak points in the vinyl which will result in wrinkles and tearing later on.

    • @TonyLoewen
      @TonyLoewen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment dude! I appreciate you give your thoughts. It’s actually still on the guitar to this day and looks perfect. I have also done a lot more wraps since I did this video and I also wrap vehicles for a living, cheers bro

    final result is not bad, but everything is better if you start with a plain body - you have to remove pickups bridge switch and pots. much easier and professional.
