    I paid for the lifetime membership of Rosetta Stone, so I use it. The problem with it is that the photos they use are ambiguous. You might be given the phrase "we are eating," and the options include two photos of people eating, so you might choose the wrong one even if you understand the language.

    What are your top 5-10 best homeschool programs you would recommend for international students in grades 3-4? What online program would you recommend for those with learning disabilities? You are doing a great job your video caught my attention, awesome content creation.

      Oh boy - that's a really tough question for a couple reasons. I don't actually know anything about homeschooling internationally, so it's REALLY important for you to find out what regulations there are wherever you are FIRST, because you want to stay in compliance with the law. The other reason it's a hard question for me is that I've never EVER found one single program that I liked all the subjects in. I've always had to keep changing things up depending upon what classes I'm doing that year. You can see all the ones I've tried out in my videos here on my channel (please subscribe - I'd appreciate it - and I've got more coming as I do more classes). And the reason there are so many is because I keep switching. I think the best ones for you to start with are always the free ones, and then after you try those, try any program that has a FREE TRIAL (most of the ones I've tried had one when I did them - but always check first to see if they still do). Because there is nothing worse than forking over a ton of money and then being locked into a curriculum that you hate. I also prefer the ones that are a month-to-month thing with no commitment - so even if you like it, you can change it up after a few months when you finish one class and move on to something else. My favorite place to send people to start is usually Khan Academy - khanacademy.org because they are free. Then move on to any of the others that I've reviewed IF they are still offering their free trials. Good luck and just don't stress over it too much. The most important lessons kids learn, I think, are when they are NOT sitting in front of their computer learning from a curriculum. Just get out and experience the world when the lessons are done because that's what will probably stick with them. I also did a video on elementary school resources that might help - th-cam.com/video/XJuXMIDMYnc/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps! :)

      At that age (or ANY AGE, in my opinion), kids should be reading what interests them. So back then, I was reading anything Minecraft-related and also a lot of nonfiction science books - the ones about things like gems and planets, etc. If you go to the description for the following video, I had listed some of my favorite science books back then. th-cam.com/video/ZHCC42Tf4RM/w-d-xo.html

    Hi, I was wondering if you can tell me about the Denica’s math books. Thank you.

      I LOVE HER BOOKS!!! She writes in a really laid-back, fun way and doesn't take herself too seriously. Here are the links to the ones I enjoyed:
      Math Doesn't Suck: amzn.to/2AQ6RbK
      Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's Boss: amzn.to/38SLQKi
      They're great introductions to the more difficult math topics - I'd say maybe have your kids read them just before they hit pre-algebra. But maybe even a little earlier or later depending on how naturally math comes to them. I don't think of them as a full curriculum (but maybe this is just me?). Just additional help if a kid is having a hard time or lacking interest. Good luck! I hope you like them as much as I did!

    Hi there - I've been watching your videos lately because I'm looking for a homeschool to be in this year and I can't decide on one. I'm probably between Acellus, Calvert, Whitmore, or Edgenuity...but I've still not decided yet - and I think you don't have reviews on those last two...I need your help. My mom wants me to make a choice by this week. I'm a U.S citizen who lives (currently) in Bolivia, this would be my 12th grade year. I can't choose what I want but it'd realistically be a good, affordable, accredited school. Can you give me some advice?

      K12 also may be another option.

    • @NixTheNorm
      @NixTheNorm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a HARD decision! I think the first thing you want to do is call all the schools that you are interested in and find out if you can transfer in easily all of the credits that you already have for high school - since it's your senior year and you don't want them saying that you have to do MORE work to satisfy their requirements. I don't know Whitmore or Edgenuity at all, but I'm hoping by posting this, you'll get some feedback from others. I think Calvert or Acellus would be okay options. Not perfect, but if you're looking for an all-in-one, NONE of them are perfect. Just remember that if you want an accredited diploma, you have to sign up for their "academy" version (the pricier one without much flexibility). Don't sign up for just Acellus Powerhomeschool or Calvert Homeschool. I think they call their other versions "Calvert Academy" and "Acellus Academy" but not postitive. But truly the most important thing is to find out if you can still graduate on time with them. Not to confuse things, but one other option that I haven't reviewed yet that you might want to check out is the Clonlara School Off-Campus Program. (But do ask them the same question about transferring in your current credits!) The cool thing about Clonlara Off-Campus program is that you can build your own curriculum and still get their diploma and high school transcript at the end. So like, if you want to take English through Calvert, Science by simply reading a textbook and doing some experiments, and math through Khan Academy (which is FREE - LOVE THEM!!!!) then you can get credit for all of them through their Off-Campus program. The are accredited and you get a diploma. Call them and talk to them about it - they are really great. They do have an all-in-one option too, but I LOVE the flexibility of the Off-Campus program. I totally need to post a review of them. I hope this helps and that others who see this can give you some input too! Good luck! And here's the link for Clonlara's off-campus program. Totally call them, though, because I know it's kind of hard to explain in a post. clonlara.org/our-programs/off-campus-program/

      Oh - just saw your other reply - I've heard some good things about K12, but I haven't taken them myself. One complaint I heard was that it was dry and boring, but I think they can ALL be that way, unfortunately, at times (which is why I love Clonlara Off-Campus). But overall, I heard that it's good.
