I'm a spanish teacher on Italki and a student today told me he practiced spanish for 3 months using language transfer. He had THE BEST spanish I've ever seen for that amount of time, even better that students after one year or two. He even knew how to cojugate in past subjunctive + conditional in one sentence... THREE MONTHS. I have to try this app.

I listen to a lesson of the Greek Language Transfer course every time I go for a walk and just those 40 lessons I've done have made me more confident in my understanding of Greek than studying Ancient Greek and finishing the entire tree in Duolingo have. I even managed to write a text in Greek a while back without struggling with the grammar! I'm very glad to stumble upon someone else who is so enthusiastic about Mihalis' work!

I always recommend the English version to Spanish speakers wanting to learn English. I agree with you, I have no idea how this tool isn't talked about more!👍🏼
For those of you that love this learning method. If you're learning a language thats not on the LT list, Michel Thomas and Paul Noble use the exact same structure. This learning method originally came from the Michel Thomas programs. If you're spacifically looking for Chinese, TH-cam the Medlock Method. It's the same structure except it adds reading to it. If you're learning Japanese, TH-cam Michel Thomas Japanese. That course happens to be fully available for free.
I think Margarita Madrigal used it before Michel Thomas. I completed both Paul Nobel Japanese courses and it was amazing. Grammar is so much easier now. It isn't very expensive on Audible, and I prefer it to Michel Thomas for Japanese specifically.

Language transfer is amazing, I’ve been learning French for over 10 years and consider myself pretty close to fluent, within the first few lessons I was already learning new things, not new words, but new ideas about how the language worked
I'm picking up Spanish again since high school. My teachers in high school were very good and always explained where words came from and broke them down for us. Now that I'm picking it up again, I found that there's a lot of language learning apps that don't really do that and just give you a modified translation that's more for memorization than actual understanding. I'm definitely gonna try this!
God, you had a genuinely good teacher, I’m so jealous 😂 But if you enjoyed the way your high school teacher taught, I’m pretty sure you’d love Language Transfer:)

I used the app in conjunction with The Green Owl, language podcasts, and...well living in Texas; and got a pretty good jumpstart on Spanish for no cost. What could be better than free?
The rules you mentioned for turning an English word into a Spanish word were basically the same I intuitively used to pass all my Spanish vocabulary tests in school without learning 😂 Spanish is such an easy language to learn for everyone who speaks English
@@user-gr7oe7do5e Yes. I am still learning English. I literally had to memorise it. I am a huge fan of his work. Especially his methodology. I haven't found courses that quite approach language learning as his do. There is Michel Thomas, in the same vein, but his courses don't go nearly as in depth, etymology wise, as Language Transfer does, and with a steadier, beginner friendly pace. I did the Spanish course in about 40 days and it pretty much gave me the confidence to try and start listening to stuff in Spanish before I was even done, which is a point I never got to through Spanish courses or Duolingo.
I think learning from different language apps is like learning from different people. People are different and how you learn can be different from others so if you try multiple apps, you might learn in multiple different ways which I think is great cause your brain might adapt to different ways of learning and doesn’t limit it. Also trying to learn by yourself (self taught) is good, people tell others they’re learning wrong but we all learn in different ways. If you think it’ll work, try it. Just don’t give up. And one of the keys to learning a language is to put a lot of time into it. Not just 5 minutes a day. An hour a day is probably minimum. Try to surround yourself in that language and listen to podcasts or music throughout the day.

If this is anything like the Michele Thomas Method then it's probably great. The Michele Thomas Method cut my learning time down by about 7 years. The book Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish teaches English to Spanish conversion methods also helped me immensely. It categorizes words into 5 different groups depending on the word ending and teaches you how to convert the word.

This sounds almost exactly like the book, "Open Doors To Spanish" by Margarita Madrigal. It's an amazing book for 1st day newbies - beginner/intermediate level.
Hello Ikenna. My name is Muhammed and I’m just a new subscriber from your channel. I really like your content. My biggest goal for me is to become a polyglot. I completely agree. I only wish there were more languages on the app. I love language learning and this app has honestly been the best I have come across.
It's been an hour and it seems like I've learned more than I have over the course of two weeks. Having vocab from other lessons is helping, but I'm learning how to actually use those words with this.
Love this! Thank you so much. Love that you were straight to the point and didn’t keep us waiting until the end. *3yrs later and it still only has the languages that you mentioned. Really is a shame
Thank you very much he has more sense and thinks like a student. Every teacher I’ve study with teached me like I know how to speak but he teaches while imagining your brain and what you as a 0 Spanish talker think

Keep up the good work
Before CI and Dreaming Spanish my wife and I used Language Transfer… it was great to get us up to speed quickly. If there was a place I wanted to visit and not get too deep into the language / culture I’d go to LT every time.
Thank you!!!!! I have been using duolingo and kept deleting it as well. Not that I don't like the app but I get distracted easily using it and it gets boring for me overtime. Now that I will be listening to it I can keep up easily. 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Thanks for the recommendation! This sounds like the Michel Thomas method, he doesn't teach a language so much as gently remind you that you already know it.
Hola! Cheers for introducing this Language App! I‘ve never heard about it, before. I immediately downloaded the app after watching your video and I‘ll give it a try later on😊 Of course, I subscribed to your channel and left a like 👍🏻 Thanks for the awesome content. Yes I used LT to get started with Italian unfortunately it hasn't been updated after 45 short lessons but these at least taught me the structure of basic present tense sentences.
Thank you for your recommendation, the app sounds really interesting, gonna try it out. I always find that it sticks longer when I understand it. Also, I think because Asian languages are not closely related to English so it's hard to 'transfer'. I'm Vietnamese learning English & Mandarin Chinese so I can see a stark contrast between them :)))
While it may appear as a contemporary innovation, this method actually traces back over half a century. Its architect, Michel Thomas, (1914-2005) an American linguist renowned for his mastery of multiple languages, dedicated over 50 years to refining and enhancing this technique. Thomas, the founder of The Michel Thomas Language Center, developed this technique to facilitate effective language acquisition.
Wow. 7 1/2 minutes of praise for the teaching method, without spending a single second acknowledging that the method is 100% lifted from Michel Thomas.
it really isn't. michel thomas taught via the socratic method yes but he did no cognitive load management no linguistic analysis he got annoyed when students weren't learning well despite the fact "the burden of your learning is me". all in all it's basically just taking constructivist teaching (Which is far from unique to michel thomas) and using that. lol
General Linguistics released Bueno Entonces a few years back and it is a lot like the Language Transfer. It was a conversation between teacher and student. It also had a bit of a story to it to make it a little like a soap opera. It also had interventions to explain grammar segments as time went on. Really good. Thanks for sharing about this one though.
I learned to speak, read and write English by merely listening to it over and over again… it’s al ingrained in my mind now so that i just can do it on the fly…never touched a book or app to learn it. Now, when it comes to Japanese for instance, that’s another story 😅
I just wanted the video and checked the app right after. Its looking like I am going to eat up all the 90 classes they have their for spanish. It’s unique way of teaching without taking notes..So checked my all boxes so far.Let’s see how it goes.Muchos gracias Emi❤😊😊
I completed the spanish course Was very good. I used the transcript I found online since the auditory lessons were too much for me. When I got too mood.. I got lost. So I hope to revisit in future
Even though in the beginning he says that we aren't going to write things down, I prefer to write notes down after I listen to about five lessons, summarizing everything I've learned. I find that between taking notes and repeating everything during the lessons like he says to do, it's pretty cemented in my brain.

It's one of the hardest languages out there (and let's be honest, somewhat useless) combining both modern and ancient greek.
I would be glad to help you if you have any questions.
Tysv!!!! So very excited to FINALLY make a difference in my language learning! Polyglot dreams here i come!
It’s literally the best language learning app I’ve used so far
He is awesome
Thanks for mentioning Language Transfer. I plan to go through their German course. Great video!
Have u done that?
Agreed! Language transfer is great! And I also agree that it truly feels like a labor of love from the fascinating gentleman who created it.
This sounds almost exactly like the book, "Open Doors To Spanish" by Margarita Madrigal.
It's an amazing book for 1st day newbies - beginner/intermediate level.
Yes. Absolutely!! Finally someone speaking about LT! Amazing!!
just downloaded. LOVE how clean and simple it is. TYSM
Hello Ikenna. My name is Muhammed and I’m just a new subscriber from your channel. I really like your content. My biggest goal for me is to become a polyglot. So I’ve been attempting to learn 8 languages at once so I could prove everyone wrong but after watching the video. I’ve planned to use most of the apps you’ve mentioned so I can convert probably and learn it while I’m busy with other work. You’ve been a true inspiration to me. ありがとございます イケナ-さん 😊
Mihalis is fantastic and he’s contagiously curious about languages. If you trust him (and have earbuds or headphones that pause quickly) you will find LT enjoyable and effective.
I completely agree. I only wish there were more languages on the app. I love language learning and this app has honestly been the best I have come across.
It's been an hour and it seems like I've learned more than I have over the course of two weeks. Having vocab from other lessons is helping, but I'm learning how to actually use those words with this.
Nothing even comes close to Language Transfer. It's brilliant!
exactly!! 👏
Thanks a bunch! I found it actually very simple to get an idea of the French language that has always been daunting to me.
I learned about LT from this channel and it’s been the most helpful app I’ve used by far. Thank you for sharing about it. Finished the 90 lessons last month and they were super helpful. Will likely cycle through them again
1-Magnificent and Valuable 2-You are extrEEEEmely pretentious, your overwhelming enthusiasm is (a lil bit) nauseating. 3-appreciate the content tremendously. 4-I ‘ve been looking for something like that long ago 5-I live in Toronto, I wanted to move to Montreal to learn French , starting with the thousands of words in common 6-coupled by my knowledge of the French grammar structure (example : feminine and masculine verbs). 7-Thank you so so much for sharing. Keep up the good work
Before CI and Dreaming Spanish my wife and I used Language Transfer… it was great to get us up to speed quickly. If there was a place I wanted to visit and not get too deep into the language / culture I’d go to LT every time.
thx u for introducing language transfer. i've tried it for the first 5 minutes and it blows me away. Great stuff sometimes do comes free
I immediately downloaded the app after watching your video and I‘ll give it a try later on😊
Of course, I subscribed to your channel and left a like 👍🏻
Thanks for the awesome content.
Have a lovely evening!
That's super sweet of you, and I'm glad you're enjoying the content! Good luck with your studies, sending much love 🤍
Thank you for making this video. I’ve been wanting to find a good learning app that’s free and actually works.
I actually love duolingo. It has helped me so much in my journey
Yes I used LT to get started with Italian unfortunately it hasn't been updated after 45 short lessons but these at least taught me the structure of basic present tense sentences.
I'm glad that Language Transfer is getting more love.
It deserves it all and much much more! Thanks for the comment!:)
I’m good with vocabulary but the structure is where I struggle. I can’t wait to try language transfer!
Thank you for your recommendation, the app sounds really interesting, gonna try it out. I always find that it sticks longer when I understand it.
Also, I think because Asian languages are not closely related to English so it's hard to 'transfer'. I'm Vietnamese learning English & Mandarin Chinese so I can see a stark contrast between them :)))
yeahhh, for sure. I think they're working on a japanese course right now, and I'm really curious how they're going to pull it off😅
Paul Noble is similar but not free, and he does Chinese and Japanese, and they still work well.
This is so true!!!!
Language transfer helped me learn French quicker and better.
Even though I speak simple French people in France understand me.
Same with some words that end with -ty in inglés can have a -dad in Spanish. Like city and university. Ciudad and universidad
4:19 ngl, that was mind blowing like that simple thing makes things a lot easier
I'm 100% downloading this app
It's a game changer imo
Wow. 7 1/2 minutes of praise for the teaching method, without spending a single second acknowledging that the method is 100% lifted from Michel Thomas.
it really isn't. michel thomas taught via the socratic method yes but he did no cognitive load management no linguistic analysis he got annoyed when students weren't learning well despite the fact "the burden of your learning is me". all in all it's basically just taking constructivist teaching (Which is far from unique to michel thomas) and using that. lol
michel thomas didn't invent constructivism.
kudos for promoting language transfer, i recently found it by taking up swahili, never looked back!
I really is the best! Love that you’re doing Swahili btw, so cool!
I loved the Bueno Entonces course! It was really fun to learn. After the 30 lessons (5 weeks) I was able to talk in Spanish and read a book.
I learned to speak, read and write English by merely listening to it over and over again… it’s al ingrained in my mind now so that i just can do it on the fly…never touched a book or app to learn it. Now, when it comes to Japanese for instance, that’s another story 😅
I’m loving it so far
so glad to hear that!:)
I just started today and I agree it is the best
I just wanted the video and checked the app right after. Its looking like I am going to eat up all the 90 classes they have their for spanish. It’s unique way of teaching without taking notes..So checked my all boxes so far.Let’s see how it goes.Muchos gracias Emi❤😊😊
Thank you for useful recommendation!! I will use it for learning French and German
I completed the spanish course
Was very good. I used the transcript I found online since the auditory lessons were too much for me.
When I got too mood.. I got lost.
So I hope to revisit in future
What an amazing content! Thank you for sharing all this knowledge with you!
Thank you so much, your vid gave me big motivation to learn Spanish!
I’m so glad !!!🥰
I will get this app thank you! Tu pronunciación en español es preciosa btw
Hahaha thank you!
@@emigrace I already started turkish and greek and i can't believe how wonderful the app is, i forced my mom to start the english from spanish one 🙊
Yesss! Seeing some love for language transfer!!
more people need to know about it!!🤍
I have this app on my phone but haven't used it yet. Off to do my first lesson now thanks to your review!
I just came back to say thank you, this is an amazing app of an even more amazing movement behind it. I'm into Arabic now :)
Even though in the beginning he says that we aren't going to write things down, I prefer to write notes down after I listen to about five lessons, summarizing everything I've learned. I find that between taking notes and repeating everything during the lessons like he says to do, it's pretty cemented in my brain.
