    This is the entry test. Meaning it’s child’s play compare to the selection course

    Do not EVER underestimate the effort required for SF (Commando/SAS) selection. You are looking at close to Olympic class fitness and a never say die mental attitude. (Probably the fitness required at the end of Boot Camp and then go through the whole fitness side again (but only the 2nd time through significantly decrease the pass times required). I havent done it, but I HAVE spoken to those who have successfully passed and all say that its really something you ever only want to do once.

    Good to see at least ONE person has the basic idea of it down. I was 9 years Australian Army, i was never a part of any SF but i probably have a fair idea of whats required and what's going on. I was 22 months in Astan and worked closely with some cdo, sasr and irr lads. Just ignore these kids, mate. All the best.

    During World War II the battalion was sent to New Guinea in 1942 and between July and August of that year the unit was heavily engaged in the defence of the Kokoda Trail during which time they fought several desperate actions against the Japanese as they attempted to hold out until further reinforcements could be brought up from Port Moresby. Such was their involvement in the battle that by the time they were withdrawn they could only muster 32 men

    This is true. I have had several family members in the Australian SF and i have a lot of knowledge. This is the SF entry test, this video doesn't show the whole story, this is what you do before selection. SFET includes 10 pull ups, 60 press ups, 100 curls ups, a 2.4 km run in 10:30, 3.2 km run in 16:00, 5km run in 22:00, 2:00 tread water, a 400m swim in 16:00, 25m underwater swim, 15km fast march in 2hr 15, multistage fitness test lv10, yo yo intermittent test Lv10
    This is just the beginning

  • @murrayreed2881
    @murrayreed2881 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Be aware that this is only a standard physical and psychological benchmark before you go onward to any form of acceptance to apply to any selection procedure.We have a finite resource of money and manpower, it's designed to basically to seperate the grain from the chaff.

  • @7nspj
    @7nspj 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    The BFA is just pushups, situps and a 2.4 in pt gear. This is called the Barrier test. About a month after this you attempt the 5 week commando selection course or the 2 week 6 days SASR Selection course. After either of those is passed (depending which one you applied for), you will then do your reinforcment cycle to be qualified in that trade. Thats it. The BFA is army wide, this is just for SF applicants.

  • @kiwitedferny

    That was very interesting indeed. Back in the early 80's we had a thing called a BE (battle efficiency test). Carrying a loaded pack/webbing/SLR rife - You had to squad run 5 miles then turn around and squad speed march 5 miles back. Then you had a 100m firemans carry of a bloke and all his kit (incl yours plus weapon); a 9ft ditch jump; then the 6 ft wall. Finaly a shoot hitting target with 15 of 20 rounds. Everyone did it as part of Basic. No water provided!! Gotta be hard in the Aussie heat.

  • @wever333
    @wever333 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @GuyW71 completing this means you can go on to either the:
    - SASR selection if you make it to the end and the Directing Staff decide to pick you you then go through 18 months of training, then if you manage to pass that, then you are in th SASR
    - or commando training, if you pass that then you are a commando

    @lachlanSB Mate, this is the test to show that you can go to Selection for either regiment. The selection course is about 3 weeks long for SAS and is absolutely gruelling, made to break you physically and mentally to see what sort of person you are. If you make it to the end, which is statistically unlikely, they have to approve you, then there is 18 months of reinforcement training which is also very difficult.. That about sums it up.

    this is the selection course and then i believe you go on to do 12-18months training and then your a qualified commando. Prior to the selction course you can either get fast tracked in from the public ( usually ex-police, etc) or you have had to have been in the army for a while before going for the selection course. most applicants are from the infantry units such as rifleman, etc but anyone can apply.

    Commandos (2CDO) is Counter Terrorism, Advanced Force Operations, Direct Action and Recovery, Strike, CSAR, Foreign Internal Defence, Protective Security Details and Counter Terrorism among other unconventional warfare roles. However, they are also expected to be able to fight as a conventional military force. SASR has all of these capabilities and also a world leading deep recon capability, however they are outside the normal chain of command and can thus take part in deniable and illegal ops

  • @markflorian138

    @RIOThacky Im enlisted as a rifle man in the Australian army reserves when im 19 i will go for the selection course for commando in the special forces. The selection course only happens twice a year and SASR candidates are selected from few soldiers already serving in the ADF.. however commando's can be direct entry. gl

  • @illaeh
    @illaeh 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For most missions yes, but illegal (according to international law) missions are sometimes required for our national security and take place more often than you think. I saw an interview once that said the politicians and occasionally the top military brass get left out of the loop because A) they don't know enough about the SASR and its capabilities to command it, and B) because the diplomatic implications for a failed black op will be lessened if a "rouge" SF unit is blamed rather than the PM.

    Good work Mczingerwhopper, the poor little guy seems lonely and in need of some good man loving. I commend you on your taking one for the team, but also helping a young confused "man" find himself in this terrible and prejudiced world. It may be a little more difficult for him to write silly comments on here when he's preoccupied elsewhere also. Good show.

  • @agropanda
    @agropanda 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ytrewqasfd the civilain version is not hard barrel and only stays acurate within 1ft from 300m for 5000 rounds - without correction. the military, is hard barreled and stays acurate for upto and beyond 10,000 rounds and is almost a versitile as the ak-47, it just wont fire if its filled with sand. it hardly ever jams.

    In the Swedish Armed Forces, GMU (Basic Military Training) is performed (?) year-round. So some recruits will get trained in winter conditions from the start.
    And for a lot of units, winter training is mandatory. Like for the Parachute Rangers, Coastal Rangers and Arctic Rangers for example (in Sweden Rangers are not counted as SF).
    It used to be different back when we had conscription.
    I get what you're saying, but I don't really get your point. And I think that's because there isn't any.

  • @7071t6
    @7071t6 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The main problems of the screaming pint, is its all timed, which later on they expect the same amount of heaves after a 3 hours pi training session, meaning that if you did 20 heaves at the start or 50 push ups at the start, they are expecting the same results after a grueling pi testing which will go for 2 hours running with packs and with out packs then ask to do the same as you started with the basic or intense screaming physical screening amounts for 21 minutes max push ups or pull ups etc., so think about a marathon runner say 1/2 marathon and then asked to do the push ups and heaves based on your first testing markers ? thats how hard it is full stop and if you cant reach the minims your out no secound chances and thats just for the commando regiments ? then add approx 50% more for the SASR ?

  • @JimmyQualts
    @JimmyQualts 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    the minimum amount is 60 pushups
    100 situps and 10 heaves but thats just the test to see if your suitable for commando training

    Most important of any SF tests is you need to be part of a team effort & also that your feet muscles are up there with very strong sets, especially with Army issue foot boots, forget using runners as they will make your feet get use to the training in them, till you put on the GP boots & then you will have an issue with your feet, blisters which will hurt to the point of slowing you down & also all the tests they say you need to pass, the instructors will ask you do do it when ever they want, so dont expect to do what is on this uploads as only the fitness tests, they may ask you to tread water for 2 minutes after you have ran for 2.5 KM & the water tests, so basically its about being fit with stamina on all levels of you body & also try to find a test manual from those who are already in the units, then you will have a better chance & not get surprised with testing which your not used too or trained for good LUCK. :) Most of the time its mind games that the instructors will play with you, even through you can do 100 push up's in 2 minutes they will ask you do do them at any time during the testing ? Even after a week of no sleep & not much food, which is why you see the man spew his guts ?

    @love44jesus4ever nah mate this is just a simple physical training pre test guide for any special forces, once you do this you have to go through the SASR or Commando Selection courses, from what I here, the SASR one is hell, very few make it through, but rewarding if you get it, if you want to see the SASR training then read, 'warrior training' by kieth fennell, he details the selction course (real training is classified) its alot more than 15 push ups and 48 sit ups lol

    The RDJ 'used to be' designed to do blah blah. Now it's a "land in gravel after a half-arsed jump".
    I still remember when the 6 foot pit had concrete edges. Back then, people jumped because breaking a shin wasn't "fun".
    I get older, the world gets lazier.

    Considring how badass tough the Aust SAS are, this cant be all of it lol to get in :D Although the march at the end has to be pretty painful and probably fails out quite a few.

    Like I've already said to spackhollogay, cold will kill in minutes, heat will kill in hours or maybe even days. I'm not saying that the SOG training is harder than the SASR. I'm saying that the conditions in Sweden are a lot harscher. Operating in sub-arctic conditions requires more of the group and individual than operating in heat.
    Hah you think that just because there's over a meter of snow they wont go out? Swedish Parachute Rangers and Arctic Rangers constantly operate in -40 celsius.
