Best Vocal Tuning Plug-in - Autotune VS Melodyne!
This video is a lifesaver for editing. Also, I started using Astirna New Tab to keep track of my tasks while working on videos, and it’s been really useful.
These Premiere Pro tips are great, but I also found that using the Astirna New Tab extension has really helped me stay organized while editing.
Bro, can you copy the pitch and timing of a vocal part as a preset and apply it to another vocal? So I don't have to do it all over again?
That’d be cool! But unfortunately I don’t think so. Closest thing I can think of would be to trigger pitch via midi and send it to all the vocals. Doesn’t help with timing but could work for pitch!
@ What exactly do you mean?
@ Let's say I made a midi of a vocal, how do I apply it to another vocal part?
I’ll have to make a video about it! Next time I’m at my desk I’ll walk thru it
this is what i needed!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Will you be upgrading? What are you most excited about?
Lol I already did today
Great vid
Thank you! Really appreciate you watching and giving feedback 🙏🏻
This was incredibly helpful! I had no idea mastering occurs on a single track like this. Very clear structure and advice - love it
Thanks so much! Happy you enjoyed it. I appreciate the positive feedback
my god this is terrible in usage. Saved me from upgrading to the polyphonic DNA version
Happy to help 😆
Bf deals on now at waves! Best time of the year to invest in new plugins
Good stuff. Thank you
This is so unintuitive. It should do this all automatically the way GarageBand does
Thank you Sir Well done !
To be honest, I didn't understand it.
A DAW can only use one MELODYNE, right? The original sound in your track does not use MELODYNE, right? After I adjusted my vocal track A, I copied a track B, and then I used MELODYNE to raise the vocal on track B by an octave, and then I played it, and I found that track A also raised an octave. Why is this?
Depending on the DAW you are using, you probably simply duplicated the same track, but they are still linked. Melodyne can have different instances, meaning that each track to which you will add it, will be a different one.
It depends how your DAW interacts with it. But you can load up as much Melodyne as you want-you just have one license though. If your DAW is ARA-compatible, you can just load up the ARA in any track you desire. If it’s not, you may need to use multiple Melodyne plugins to do it manually.
Can I copy and raise it, and then quickly make a harmony vocal track separately? How can I do this quickly? Because I don't want to do all the harmony in MELODYNE.
"Pyrite (Fool’s Gold)" - best song Frank Ocean never properly released. So glad you guys had this moment
Michael, you made my day, been cracking my head around this and it works in ableton too... the harmony tip is just another level all together, thanks a bunch, you rock!!
Happy to help! Thanks so much for the positive feedback :)
@@MichaelWuerth You're most welcome. 😀
So is pro tools basically trash?
Ha. Nope. Missing files is a reality of any software that links to media. If that media gets moved sometimes you have to tell it where to look.
I noticed that you had to choose the key that was in, but the sales rep at Sweetwater said that Antares automatically detects the key.
Good gosh this was helpful, thank you!!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching and for the positive feedback :)
How can I export, with the playlist with ? If I have to give every audio files, including the playlists ?
I would consolidate each take, rename them “tk 1, tk 2, etc” and export them into a folder specifically for alternate takes.
Nice! Really well presented and I learned a few nuggets too, thanks. I liked the first approach better, but with only one critique. I felt the added kick sample was too much click, it's a bit distracting in the mix. Just personal preference, what you did was amazing.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback, and happy you found it useful!!
Melody's is a great tool to create harmonies or to clean up vocals a little if a note is slightly sharp or flat. I used it myself and loved it.
Happy you like it! Such a great tool
Legend! One of my favorite songs ever!!
That’s awesome! Thanks so much!
Really useful - thanks
Thanks for watching! Happy you found it helpful
thank you for this video
Thank you for watching!
I’ve been thinking of using reference tracks to spark ideas for songs and arrangements - not to plagiarize but to have some structures to build on and then “erase” - your thoughts?
Absolutely! I love this even for taking chord progressions you like and then building your own song around them. Great to use as a guide.
Please somebody tell me how to do undo in melodyne i dont know i lost my 4 hours hardwork in melodyne because i press ctrl + z and melodyne changes everything like there is no editing of vocals so how can i do undo in melodyne
I’ve seen this happen if you’re not clicked inside of the melodyne window when you click undo. To the daw, transferring the vocals into melodyne is the last “undo move”. If you click inside the melodyne window and hit undo it should undo your work inside of melodyne. Hope this helps!
@MichaelWuerth unfortunately Not worked for me but thanks a lot sir. you try to help me 😊
Almost no difference at all.
barely heard any difference...
You fr don’t hear a difference between the modulation and the pitch drift?
Try not to listen for pitch differences but in fluctuations, that really helped me active listen to music
Autotune works way better in advanced mode and picking major or minor from there. For whatever reason it tracks the notes in a key way better and you can add or omit notes.
Really great point! I’m definitely going to make a long form vid going into more detail about that. Thanks for the feedback!!
Is there any brand and model of headphones that would you suggest?
I’ve gotten used to the Sennheiser HD650s and so I mostly use those, but I also really like the Beyerdynamic DT770s
bro you are a LIFE SAVER!!!!!!
Thanks! Happy you found this helpful. And thank you for watching 🙌🏼
I literally had a heart attack because I thought that my recordings were gone, I got them back, thanks!
So happy to help!!
Any advice for when files have already been emptied from the trash? I added a video to my session with the intention of only using the audio, but winded up ripping the audio online and converting it to an mp3. I've since deleted the video from my trash, removed the clip from my clip list, and ProTools is still attempting to relink the file and start video engine which is causing CPU overload and preventing me from moving forward in my session. If there's anything you can suggest to assist, I'm all ears!
Hm. I’ve not seen this specific situation, but you might want to consider importing session data from that session into a new one and don’t bring in the video track so the new session is a clean slate without it.
Thank you!
Anytime! Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback :)
I was trying to create harmonies and it wouldn't paste until I saw your video about clicking outside the area before pasting. It worked, but it squished the note together making the harmony note play faster.
Oh interesting! Did this method help you?
I like it 👌 chef kiss
perfect tutorial
Thanks very much!
Did not help me at all
It’s hard to make a video that solves everyone’s specific problem. Hope you were able to find a solution to yours!
You spent a lot of time eqing drums in solo. I do my final eq tweaks within the mix (for all tracks).
That’s a great way do it!
Ableton is 20 times more simple than this proTools masquerade
Still not working for me. Why is the simple process of cutting and pasting so unintuitive in Melodyne?
Sorry it’s still giving you trouble! Most times if it isn’t working for me it’s bc I have a waveform selected within melodyne. Make sure to click outside of the wave forms (in the white and grey space) to deselect all before pasting.
@@MichaelWuerth that was huge for me. Other videos ignore this.
Video starts at 1:20. It's a 15 second intstruction. shut the fuck up
Seems like I cannot find the right way of printing a Stem. Stem should be only 1 stereo track with all individual tracks from that instrument group. I hope you will see this and reply. How to properly export Stem if my signal flow is Audio track > Aux > Stem > 2 Track > Print? Let's say I have 8 drum tracks (Kick, snare, toms...) all going to an Aux Track (Drum Bus) with some processing on it, then Drum Bus goes to Drums Stem and then Stem goes to 2 Track (Mix Bus) that have processing on it and then it goes to Print (Stereo Out). My concern is that processes on the Mix Bus won't react the same if I solo the Stem for printing as they would react to a whole mix going through. I hope this makes sense
This is a great question and unfortunately, you're 100% correct - mix bus processing is reacting to the entire mix and will react differently if you solo stems or groups of tracks through it. I recommend printing your stems at the source (kick, snare, etc) as well as at the group (drum bus) and give whoever you are collaborating with both options. Mix bus processing will always need to be a combination of all tracks, and happen at the true end of your signal chain. In that case, might be best to screen shot your settings and note your thought process for whoever you're collaborating with to apply on their end. Hope this helps!
I downloaded and installed everything, now how do I access the interface? Do I need to install a different program to be able to use it?
What DAW are you working in?
@@MichaelWuerth I`m completely new to auto tune. I went and downloaded the trial version, I'm not sure if they give me a interface or I need to use it with another program.
ooo thanks for that key command! i was hoping this would make things easier and faster! i've been using pro tools for 25 years now (well on and off lol) and i never knew about this. granted most plugins i automate i have already done in a template setup (reverb and delays mostly) but this could make some effects a lot easier. if i was doing EQ automation i usually just make a special region for it and do a region based effect for it, but for EQ sweep effects this could provide useful, though i don't use those that much in my productions.
Happy you found it useful! Thanks for the positive feedback :)
How did you get it to work that long without it crashing your DAW? I can’t use autotune for more than five minutes without it completely freezing my session. As soon as I looked it up, everybody’s having this issue apparently, but you didn’t. How?
I wish I knew! I’m pretty sure for the sake of this video I was only really running it on a single track. When I’ve got auto tune on a bunch of vocals like backgrounds and harmony stacks it definitely slows down the computer, but bumping up the buffer can help there!
Purchased MELODYNE advanced. IT WAS TERRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY. worst GUI ever ! unreadable, counterintuitive, ugly ! This program looks like made for Windows 3.1 when opened on my 5K monitor, it is simply a trash! there is a functionality, but the GUI is absolute trash ! They have not changed or improved ony thing in 10 years :-(
Sorry you’ve been having a rough experience with it!
