Best combination for those who want natural vocals and not robotic ones : Wavetunes realtime with soft autotune you barely hear and then polish it with a manual autotune like Waves tune or Melodyne, if you're not accurate with your voice take the time with your plugins that's the only way. Also be sure to record in proper conditions, you need a good room around NC25 or less if you can, otherwise use a dynamic mic with a good preamp because you wouldn't want to pitch the noise that would sound really really bad. Other thing don't be close-mic, because of the proximity effect the sound of your voice will be really bassy and you don't want that when you tune a voice, it's too easy to recognise, be at least half your arm away from the mic and use a pop filter half way (as far as possible from the mic, stop sticking it!!!) because having pops pitched is also not natural as we all have it in the same frequencies, having a clean recording will really help doing the trick trust me. Waves plugins are a gold mine for all Sound Engineers out there, you just gotta know how they work.
thanks for the tutorial! Shared it with the Vocal Synth community :) I know a lot of folks within said community try to get the vocals perfect within the synths before mixing, but I love tuts like this that help make even the "crappy" voicebanks shine.
Wow. The days of retakes ‘til you get it right & bouncing tracks onto analogue tape to make room for more tracks is…generations & worlds away. But I’m so glad I experienced them. I started in the industry very young. I still have my multitrack tape masters somewhere…
I recorded am entire song, did the vocals myself, spent days trying to precisely tune it with Waves Tune, and nearly destroyed my laptop because I can't make it seem even halfway decent.

This video is literally hard evidence that your comment is false. Huge L. Vocoder, auto tune and modulators are way too overhated which, funny enough, has resulted in them being underrated.
I love how Autotune just turns a shitty vocal recording into a stupidly robotic sounding vocal recording, while the other plugin creates something completely new that's only based on, but doesn't contain anything of the original voice, yet Autotune is the plug in that's considered 'cheating' by a lot of singers and fans. 😂
Sounds very good, though the default autotuning program in fl studio (pitcher) can do the same and if you have a lot more time, you could use newtone to manually shift the notes around to a note in the chord

Very nice result! I will take it into account. But this auto-tune is nice. I guess FL Studio has its own tuner, hasn't it? Called Newtone or something...
You need to use Melodine. It's industry standard and u can MOVE the pitch of a word to the correct note. It also automatically corrects the note if it's FLAT or SHARP so the note is in tune. U can adjust the smoothness of that transition so it doesn't sound like a Microsoft robot. You literally can just SAY the words of the song, then drag that word to the correct note pitch that u want. If u can't reach a high note, no problem just sing the note as high as u can comfortably and in tune, then go back, use the slider and put it to the correct note. Simple as that 😆 it's like taking a middle C and going one octive higher and that's it. No real effort needed now days. Plus can do effects if u want as well. Reverb etc.
" It's industry standard" this doesn't mean anything. Autotune is even more used in the industry. Autotune can also do all of the things you menntion: it has a manual edit mode to MOVE the pitch of a word to the correct note, it can automatically correct sharp/flat based on a set key, and you can set the transition time so it doesn't sound like a robot.
