    If anyone was wondering.....
The dish is called cream cheese garlic bread and it is delicious. I had it quite a few times while deployed to Camp Humphreys.
    * The recipe I am providing yields approximately 6 Rolls *
    You will need:
    A large mixing Bowl
    Measuring spoons/cups
    Parchment paper
A baking sheet that can accommodate six 5 inch rolls (I use french rolls because that is what I like, feel free to us what ever kind of crusty type rolls you prefer, or experiment with different types. I find crusty rolls absorb the garlic butter better)
    A nice Whisk
A piping bag ( I use a large gallon ziploc bag because I do not own a piping bag)
A double boiler/bain-marie, or just a pot you can put over another pot of boiling water if you do not own a double boiler.
    For the cream cheese filling:
8 ounce cream cheese , softened
    ¼ cup granulated sugar
    For the garlic butter:
1 cup unsalted butter , melted (or 2 sticks)
½ cup whole milk (or half & half)
    2 Tablespoon granulated sugar
2 Tablespoon garlic , minced (or to your preference)
1½ Tablespoon dry parsley flakes (or to your preference)
    2 large egg
    Kosher salt (for sprinkling)
    For the cream cheese filling:
Combine the softened cream cheese and sugar in a mixing bowl. Whisk the cream cheese until smooth and the sugar is incorporated. Transfer the cream cheese filling to a pipping bag or ZipLoc bag and set aside until needed.
    For the garlic butter:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the garlic butter until completely smooth. Heat the mixture over a double boiler/bain-marie, or a pot of water with simmering water until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is warm and very fluid. Make sure to whisk the mixture constantly and DO NOT overheat, or the eggs may scramble. Keep the garlic butter warm until needed.
You can heat up the garlic butter using the microwave if you like. Just make sure to use a glass bowl and to heat the mixture in short increments.
To assemble the Korean cream cheese garlic bread:
    Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Cut each bread roll into 6 or 8 equal wedges ( I found 6 works better than 8 ). Make sure to NOT completely cut through the bread. You want the bread to stay intact.
After the bread has been cut, pipe a rope of the cream cheese filling in between each wedge. Be careful not to break the wedges.
Once the bread has been filled with cream cheese, dip the entire roll into your garlic garlic butter. Make sure the garlic butter coats in between the wedges as well. Hold the roll upside down to let excess garlic butter drain. Repeat with all the rolls and arrange them back on a parchment lined pan.
Pipe the remaining cream cheese filling in the center of each roll and sprinkle a pinch of kosher salt on each roll also (if you desire). Bake the rolls for about 8-10 minutes, until they are crispy. Check the rolls half way through cooking to make sure they do not get too dark. No one likes burnt bread and different altitudes yield varying results when it comes to baking/cooking times.
Let the bread cool for a few minutes and enjoy!

To the people asking about how koreans stay skinny. Firstly, don't make sweeping generalizations and maybe visit korea before making assumptions. I live with my husband in korea and I can tell you that not everyone is skinny here. Secondly, this kind of food wasn't popular until very recently in Korea. Koreans are still thin because they've been eating mainly traditional foods up until now but with fast foods, carbs and fatty, processed foods becoming more prevalent, their average weight is bound to skyrocket. Give it a couple of years and then come back.
They don't really know what they're getting themselves into with this stuff.... It's a faaarrr cry from the natural healthiness of traditional korean food that they're used to.

That is what I’m trying to figure out. What all is in the batter? Eggs obviously and it looks like finally chopped green onions but what else? Milk in flour or milk and potato flakes? I can’t figure that out and what was it that was sprinkled on top? Where does the garlic come in? Writing from the USA

    • @adlz518
      @adlz518 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@annieb.6578 For the batter I'd imagine it was flour, towards the edge of the bowl you can see a white powder. Though it is super strange how it looks like lumpy mashed potatoes on the whisk. Funny you say green onions cause garlic bread had me thinking oh dried parsley, but region could even have it being like dried chopped up seaweed possibly.
The garlic is in the batter, at 3:59 it looks like chopped bits of garlic stuck to the exterior of the bread after they dunked it. Prob why they re-mix after each dunk as well, so each bun gets a hit of garlic and it doesn't all settle to the bottom of the bowl.
The white sprinkles; again cause garlic bread my initial thought was grated parm. But not like microplane grate, a coarser one. Another thought was flaked sea salt? But it browned after the oven. Does salt do that? I'd lean more to a dry grated cheese. It's a super cool presentation though for just typical garlic bread; wasn't a fan of the cream cheese, even though it did serve the purpose of holding the segments apart.

*You can heat up the garlic butter using the microwave if you like. Just make sure to use a glass bowl and to heat the mixture in short increments.*
No one likes burnt bread and different altitudes yield varying results when it comes to cooking times.
Let the bread cool for a few minutes and enjoy!
