Yes, metal is showing through on the edges where the coating has worn off. I think it gives it some charm (like our Landy is also wearing its battle scars😅)
I just bought one because it was super cheap and I figured a good starting place. It is indeed hard to pedal without the motor on and when the motor is on the pedaling is waaaay too easy. I want a good combination of exercise and assist. This bike does not deliver that. If you just want a bike that will do all the work for you this is the ticket.

No selectable assist levels makes these horrible to use , they just try to make you go 15mph . also the throttle is not legal yet
