It was definitely better than the Second Antman film. Quantumania is definitely over hated. But it was a good fun movie for me, and Kang was a great highlight.
Thank you for your very thoughtful review of Quantumania, and all three Ant-man films. I myself enjoyed Quantumania a lot and didn't understand why it's rejected so unfairly by the critics. Also, this movie is actually less formulaic than most of other MCU films which makes this movie even more special.
He just does it to stir the pot on purpose it doesn’t really help his majority of the films he likes are publicly terrible anyways but it’s a cool take I guess
Hope's Wasp actually willingly went back to the quantum realm twice, once in the beginning to save Hank & Janet then at the end to help Scott to defeat Kang. Plus, she didn't hesitate a bit to dive into the possibility storm to save Scott. This shows how heroic her character has become.
@@furbl4345 this dude just thinks repeating half thought out Arguments from Incredulity dressed up as criticism he heard someone else say makes him smart and he came looking to boost his ego by attacking random people about it. It backfired. Now he's pouting. I wouldn't expect a reply.
This is why I love your channel man. I never know what to expect your thoughts on a movie will be. I'm so glad you enjoyed ant-man 3, I personally enjoyed it a lot more than most, and while I think it isn't anything super special, I think it's in the better half of the MCU. It's always so cool hearing you express your thoughts on a film with how you back up all your opinions. Good shit, keep it up!
The type of mental gymnastics you have to do to make this movie sound good is admirable but the plot and visual are terrible the expectations we’re not met
It is so good to hear somebody else say some good things about this movie! I actually really liked it as well, and can’t understand the hate it’s getting. It’s not perfect, not many of these things are, but it isn’t nearly as bad as everyone seems to think it is. Thanks for sharing!
I mean I’m genuinely happy for you if you liked it. I think it’s bad, in fact I think it was good or at least descent and they cut half of the story arc. They set up an interesting internal conflict for Scott, only to do nothing with that. Scott has grown from this movie, but we don’t see the growth, just the end product of it. Also Kevin has got to do better with giving these vfx teams more time, even if it means less movies. But yeah idk, it wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t say it was good either.
> , I REALLY liked it for what is was A rare statement in modern entertainment conversation these days - most people seem incapable of judging a movie for what it tries to be and spend more time than it took to watch the movie/show complaining about how it's not good enough (otherwise interpreted as "exactly what I wanted"). Few people these days try to engage with media on the media's level, but instead try to act like the ideal work of art (commercial or otherwise) is allegedly flawless and devoid of plotholes, when in reality, they're not understanding that their personal take on a film is solely their opinion, not an objective fact of the movie's quality (which can't be objectively quantified anyway).
@@johnhargrove5268 I mean, haters are like strict parents who expect the best from their kids or in this case writers. When the kids/writer make some mistakes, the strict parents/haters be so hard on them expecting them to be perfect. Terrible parenting/fandoming
My biggest problem with the movie was that Kang appeared 1 hour into the movie, with a 15-minute heist and a 40-minute third act. But when I came home I showed my wife "The Wizard of Oz" for the first time and I knew Marvel compares Kang to the wizard and I realized it's very similar: A few minutes in the real world, get sucked in the world, being received into the world by strangers we spend a little too much time with. We hear about the "wizard or conqueror", we see familiar faces but playing other characters. The wizard appears very late in the movie just to send the protagonist on a 15-minute quest and after that, a third act that shows the wizard is only human, but through a very simple solution the protagonist goes back home. It made me appreciate the movie and I'm excited to see it again.
I do agree that there’s a lot of deeper context between decisions like Janet not opening up about her experiences in the Quantum Realm, but unfortunately the film doesn’t take time to explore those concepts too much. It’s too plot heavy and nothing else.
I can see this, but I don't think that's this films problem/fault. I feel that Disney does this a lot, where they constantly amp up their ip's. This movie suffered from constant rewrites due to Disney not liking the original direction.(Kang wins in the end) However I do think that a lot of the hate that this film gets is from the CGI on theatrical release,(thanks to COVID this film had to be rushed.) and the fact that "If KaNg Is ThE dEvIl ThEn HoW dOeS hE lOsE tO aNtMaN" people sleep on aNtMaN to begin with. Hes a trained fighter, and an avenger. Also he doesn't win, Kang looses due to his suit being damaged. This film released on my bday, Feb 17th and I've slept on it until 2 days ago. And I honestly can't see where the hate comes from. "It's to comedic" it's an ant man movie. "The CGI was bad" this movie got rushed because of COVID and was being made hand in hand with Wakanda Forever. "Kang the Conqueror Isn't that scary" this one I don't get at all, he's wiped out timelines, killed trillions already, and he legitimately disentagrates his victims, Sure he looses to anta, but the movie explained that these already advanced ants went through millions of years of evolution, becoming a class 2 civilization, also they got merked by Kang off screen(sure making it off screen is a cop out, but like CGI aint cheap) I feel that people push the criticisms of other marvel IP's issues onto this just because of a rocky release. Rewatch on Disney+ and these issues seem to fade.
Thank you for this. Thought I was going crazy with how much I loved this film versus other’s outsized and hyperbolic response. View it as the ultimate Ant-Man film, and now the most underrated MCU movie.
Mr. Scott, you and FILMSPEAK are definitely not alone. LOVED THE HELL out of this film...and besides all of the points outlined in the video, to me, it also came off as a return to the bigger storyline missing from most of PHASE 4. Really, really loved the ANT-FAMILY onscreen!
Finally someone gets it. This is film about family, an all consuming burden of responsibility, PTSD, Colonialism, and dealing with familial trauma via overcoming impossible odds through shared unity.
@@eriktatos Douglas and Pfeiffer where all great as per usual as well, and Majors not only kills it but exudes screen presence (I'd argue on par with Brolin's Thanos, even if the characters aren't written close to equally well). People can say what they will about the script or their preference against having a single Kang be the villain rather than variants of him (that's seriously a complaint I've seen some throwing out, as if the whole variant thing being part of Kang's whole package and we were told at the end of Loki in his first appearance that this would be the case), but I'm interested to see what he'll do with the other variants in Kang Dynasty. I'm super stoked to see Majors in Creed 3
The Antman movies generally have great cast. That's why I hate it when they're wasted in them. Quantumania cast is pretty bad though. They got Bill Murray to play a Grandmaster knockoff. Newton who only has 1 expression. And the 3 Wombats replaced by uninteresting and nonsensical freedom fighters.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom another "it didn't do these arbitrary things I wanted" non criticism. Bill Murray is an old man who pretty much exclusively does cameos these days. The proper response is "Cool, Bill Murray did a cameo and it was fun." Not, "Why didn't they force an old man into slave labor in some forced into the story role for my reason less whim.". Also in what way was he like the grand master? They have a ship?
@@fusiondog77 Sounds like you'd like anything the corpos would put out. If they can't make the most out of Murray, then why not just cut his character out? As it happen, it is a forced role, so why have him at all?
I was not hyped for this movie but I saw it in IMAX, my jaw wasn't dropped but I had a good time. I found the family theme heartwarming. All the main characters care about each other immensely and that drives most of their decisions. I also noticed the mcus obsession with suits. The armor and suits in Wakanda Forever looked so bad, but the ant suits are so freaking cool. I agree with the cartoon vibe, and I think it was a major reason for it being fun. The green screen was not jarring to me compared to MODOKs face...
While I respect your opinion on Quantumania, and I am genuinely glad to see many people enjoying it, this movie was a solid mixed to negative for me. For me, this movie felt empty and as a whole was a disjointed mess, but this issue is a symptom of a much larger problem I am having with the entire MCU right now. This issue with Quantumania is an issue that doomed the first Ant Man and the Wasp for me and may ultimately doom the Multiverse Saga as a whole. And Please get comfortable because I have a lot to say about this, and let me preface this comment/essay/rant by saying that I have nothing against MCU fans who care the most about the big Avengers or Endgame-level events. These big interconnected crossover events are a perfectly great reason to keep up with this franchise, and these types of MCU projects are able to combine the interests of those who care about connectivity and those who value character focused stories into something truly special that we can all enjoy. With all that out of the way though, my biggest problem with the MCU that Quantumania has further solidified is the sense that Marvel is afraid of making smaller, self-contained, and character-focused stories. With the first Ant Man and the Wasp, Multiverse of Madness, and now Quantumania, it feels like Marvel is trying to appease the MCU fans who complained about the first Ant-Man, the first Dr. Strange, and the earlier films of Phase 4 not being relevant enough to the wider saga or not connected enough to the rest of the universe. In the first Ant-Man and the Wasp, you can feel Marvel trying to force in connections to the rest of Phase 3 and set up for Endgame by making the plot completely dependent on the events of Civil War, and constantly reminding the audience within the movie of how it is connected to Civil War. It also uses the quantum realm as just exposition for how the heroes can time travel in Endgame rather than further exploring its mechanics or hinting at its importance as a location in the wider Ant-Man trilogy. Then with Multiverse of Madness, Marvel gave into the complaints about how Dr. Strange’s first solo movie was pointless and how Phase 4 at that point wasn’t building up to the next big event fast enough by having Strange’s next magical adventure and next step in development as a character take a backseat to exposition for the Multiverse Saga. It is seems that at the last minute, Marvel cut out a second act that focused on a self-contained story about how the multiverse pertained to the mystic arts and replaced it hollow with a showcase of all the characters Disney had gotten the rights to back from Fox and empty set up for Secret Wars. And now with Quantumania, Marvel gave into the complaints about the first two Ant-Man movies by removing Luis and the other core side characters that this vocal section of the fans thought were too annoying and pointless. Then they sidelined Ant-Man and the remaining cast in their own movie so we can waste no time getting to Kang and set-up for the rest of the saga. When I was watching Quantumania in theaters, it felt like there was a first act about Scott, Cassie, and the Pyms as a family and a second act about world building for the people of the quantum realm that were completely cut out as to not distract from the all-important set up for Kang Dynasty. Even Kang, for all Marvel held back to keep the spotlight on, wasn’t a character but rather just exposition for how he will eventually become the next big bad of the MCU. The best parts of Quantumania for me were the first five to ten minutes that focused on the new dynamic of the Pyms as a family, and MODOK. MODOK was the best character because he was the only one who had a true arc and development, but those are the only two notable aspects about this movie for me. As someone who’s personal favorite MCU movie is the first Ant-Man, I was cautiously optimistic about Quantumania because the final trailer presented it as a self-contained arc for Scott about the loss of time with his family during the blip. But as I said before, it feels like that version of the movie was cut up and cobbled back together as this empty information dump at the last minute. The only reason Quantumania didn’t ruin the legacy of the Ant-Man trilogy is because the first Ant-Man and the Wasp already did that for me. The point in all this is that I believe Marvel is listening to the fans who just want relevance and connectivity to the wider MCU too much. Like I said though, I have nothing against these MCU fans, and it’s okay that we all value different things out of this great cinematic universe. But Marvel shouldn’t change movies like Quantumania that were clearly meant as more self-contained stories to only the standards of these fans, just as they shouldn’t change interconnected movies to fans like me who value standalone projects. This strategy of editing and reshooting regular releases to make them more connected and relevant to the wider saga just leaves all sections of fans frustrated by a final product that is poorly made and disjointed. It is also the self-contained character moments for these different heroes in the MCU that give the true weight to events like Infinity War and Endgame more so than the spectacle and the interconnected universe gimmick. Phase 4 early on actually took its time with more self-contained and character-focused stories in its first few films. I know Black Widow, Eternals, and Love and Thunder were not great, but at least they tried to put their value into the individual film rather than just riding the hype of being a piece of the next big event. But ever since No Way Home, an example of a movie that pleases all sections of the fandom by building its returning characters and set-up for the wider overarching story around a more-self contained arc for Holland’s Peter by the way, Marvel seems to be rushing right into the next Endgame-level event with no time for of the moments in between. This harms Multiverse Saga because this mindset seems to be the reason why the next official Avengers crossover-type event is Kang Dynasty at the very end of the Saga, and the buildup to this is relegated to regular releases like Quantumania and Multiverse of Madness being hijacked to give exposition. Marvel should have had Phase 4 and Phase 5 build up to smaller Avengers movie that can rightfully be dedicated to building the next big event, but it seems that this didn’t happen out of fear of damaging the Avengers brand by having their next installment be a less than Endgame-level experience. I know I have said a lot in this reaction to Quantumania, but it brought my current issues with the MCU so far to the forefront that I really needed to get all this off my chest. And again, I very respectfully disagree with your thoughts and I am genuinely happy to see that you and many fans are loving this movie.
Bruh that was way too long 😂 You should make a video about this! Real talk though, why did this movie come off as disjointed to you? I agree it felt empty, but it also felt generally cohesive
I walked away feeling like it’s my favorite Marvel film of all time, I know that’s not really the case, but in the moment. That’s how exciting it was to see after all the recent Marvel content I did not like. My wife and kids also thoroughly enjoyed themselves, which says a lot; since they are not typically fans. Great video and review!
Finally somebody said it. It was a masterpiece. A genre defining work of art for a new generation. Beauty and joy, humanity and soul distilled in it's purest form. I cried for almost an hour after all of my 5 viewings.
For me this movie was comedy gold and i loved every second, i am realy happy that marvel can still make funny movies.... looking at you thor 4. But i still think thor 4 is better then thor 2 so my opinion does bot mean anything
THANK YOU! Glad to know I'm not alone! The only thing I felt it was missing was Louis and Gang, I feel they sort of are part of the antman heart. I also think it would have been a better ending if they were stuck in the Quantum Land, or at least be harder for Scott and Hope to get out.
I loved this film, I saw it in 3D Imax and was blown away. It's simply objectively a visual treat in iMax, no way around that. Guarantee most of these people hating in comments haven't even seen the movie properly or saw a shxtty phone recorded in a theatre stream with casino ads all over the screen. Also, most of the critiques of this movie are just flat-out wrong. This movie has gotten criticized over more plot holes that don't exist than I ever saw before. And the level of petty with the reviews, I heard people question why Cassie wanted a lime after going Giant so thy dropped it down a grade I'm like wtf, I do not remember people wondering how Hawkeye and Black Widow could breathe on Vormir for instance of being petty. Like people are not even giving this movie a chance. And that's sad because it delivered on all on fronts imo and the highlight of the movie is not just Majors but the entire cast acting their asses off and having real chemistry. So many great subtle moments in this film like when Kang captures Scott and Cassie and Scott turns to Cassie and says 4th time in jail how about you, harkening back to the convo right before getting sucked in, and she gives him a mean look before softening her face into a heartfelt smile. The negativity over such a feel-good film is just alarming. I thought somebody was going to die in this movie but by the end of the movie, I was hoping not because I love the family dynamics too much. I knew Modok would turn on Kang the moment Scott said Darren and you see the crack in the armor, Cassie said Dad it's the bee guy and Darren smiled and said Cassie I almost didn't recognize you. When Kang told Modok to kill Cassie, Modok gave Janet a regretful look, and when he saw Cassie he clearly was not shooting to kill. Modok death scene is one of the funniest moments in MCU history. I said it. It's hilarious. Hank's face when he told Scott we were like brothers, the fact they all ran back actually and didn't sincerely want to help Modok, Scott telling Modok he's in and can die an Avengers. The whole movie was leading up Scott to proving himself worthy of being an Avenger with how he was waving that flag the whole film and he delivered or at least tried.
I just watched the movie. Don’t care I just loved it. Cool they could’ve defeated Kang in a better way but that doesn’t mean whole 2 hour of me was bad. Infact, it was insane. I loved the quantum universe, gives me a new World building to appreciate and it’s my favourite world. Just need some characters like Rocket or Drax and we’ll be Gucci. In 10 or 20 years time it’ll be appreciated like like all underrated movies do. Such an incredible world they made in Quantum world and people are hating on such incredible world.
You are my favorite channel to watch when we have stark opposite thoughts on a movie. Love your insights and points that bring more light to stuff that I didn’t feel. Much love to ya!
I feel most people missed the fact that this is a world building movie. It’s a movie building up kang as a threat. It’s not a movie like civil war, or no way home. This movie is to build a world around the quantum realm. It gives us more insight into it. And lots of people were using endgame expectations for every coward movie, and for that reason, some people didn’t like it. But me personally, I loved it!
why this video doesn't have millions of views makes no sense to me... I liked this film alot and can't believe how it got reviewed so badly, literally makes 0 sense.
Hard to swallow pills: The only reason why people hated the film was because of the cgi, everything else was just cynically manufactured to fit on the need that people had for it to be the worst film ever
I really found myself enjoying the movie. My gripe with it is that it just tries too much, so much so that none of the story's aspects feel truly satisfying. I love the rich and interesting world, they created with the quantum realm. I loved all that this world had to offer (i.e. our hole goop and his friends). I looooooove Kang/Jonathan Majors, I liked the family dynamics, and I even liked Darren as M.O.D.O.K. . However, at the end of the movie I felt myself wishing they had spent more time to explore and focus on all these things more. It's just too much for one movie. I just was really sad, that we had to basically leave all the things behind, which made the film special, in the end. I do wish they had gone with M.O.D.O.K. as the main antagonist, as they had originally planned to. I also would have liked to see them spend more time exploring what Janet not telling them, has done to the family. It was brushed off too easily for my taste. And I wish they had introduced Kang in a "part 2" movie, in which they focus more on the conflict within Scott, due to missing so much of his daughter's life. The idea/offer of getting time back, to spend it with his family, is alluring and tempting. Wish they had introduced a "real", relatable inner conflict for Scott, so we can see him evolve by being confronted with the consequences of his choices.
I honestly love how time is the big theme throughout this movie and the others. I also like how this movie’s tone was more mature than that of the first two considering all that happened in Endgame. I don’t think this is the best MCU film of all time, but I’m excited for Kang and how Ant-Man & Wasp will factor into the next Avengers movies.
I grew up watching the late 70's 80's Hollywood classics and although my tastes have expanded I find myself coming back to Marvel movies. This one hit it in the head for me, it really felt like watching an old school Hollywood adventure for me, it made me feel like a child again 🙂 side note I watched it in 3d, and it looked amazing at times but I think the artists didn't go far enough given the overall imagery of the film.
Marvel “fans”: I want them to do something different with the ant man movies. (Quantumania exists) Marvel “fans”: OH NO THEY DID SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH THE ANT MAN MOVIES! IT SUCKS!
9:35 "She's reminding him of the injustice still taking place in the world" What is antman suppossed to do about half the population coming back, even in Falcon's show the goverment is struggling to solve this problem. Her form of protesting is using advanced weapons on a police cruiser and having zero consequences because she's atman's daughter. This is poor execution of a good premise. 9:48 - You're making it sound like saving the universe is something minor and as if it has no impact to the younger generation of kids who get to have an insight on the sacrifices the avengers had to make to defeat Thanos and return half the universe. 10:20 - As a father why would he want his daughter to be in a war for people they have no infomation about and at this point they don't know much about Kang. This essay makes a lot of excuses for bad writing and direction, Janet had plenty of time and oppotunities to tell her family about Kang she just didn't for the plot to move forward. Cassie learning about quantum physics from notes in a basement and creating a device that Hank couldn't even have built after his years of experience in quantum physics is lazy. Socialist ants is a joke and so is the execution of this movie.
I went in with no expectation and aside from gross Darren, I enjoyed watching it. I think it was definitely the character writing that I appreciated most, though, especially as someone who enjoyed the first two Ant-man movies for these characters and their journey.
It's truly a shame about all the abuse allegations surrounding Jonathan Majors, and him therefore seeming to be a shithead. Because he's a really great actor
What i like about him is he represents the people who likes cinema/movies in general. Most people have VERY diverse taste in movies. You can like Citizen Kane and Spiceworld at the same time. Bad example, but you know...
That's true, but we really shouldn't reward Marvel for the drop in quality. They are pumping out too many movies and shows too quickly, and it really shows. Marvel can do better.
@@elongatedmanforever1252 Very true. There are also people who give movies a 1/10. I guess nuance is a foreign concept to audiences. If everyone hyperbolizes everything, it defeats the entire purpose of the scale. It's frustrating, and it really shows that many people tend to rate and review films emotionally rather than objectively.
The writing in this movie was shocking. The arc of Mokok was as laughable as his CGI rendering. Speaking of CGI, the effects were so obvious. You could tell that most of the film was just actors standing in a line behind a green screen regurgitating exposition, most of it being the pronoun game. They have also already ruined Kang by having him get beaten not only by Loki but by a bunch of ants! ANTS!!!! We're no longer given a reason to care. Thor: Lover and Thunder made me angry but I was just indifferent to everything that was going on, and in some ways, that's worse. This review is just clutching at straws.
BRUV! I'm so excited to find someone who enjoys this movie and Ant-Man in general! Me and partner have been trippin ab it and how much people hate it. Thanx for sticking up for the little guy! 🤘🏾❤️
The writer said he didn't want Kang to defeat Ant-man & the Wasp because it would be too much like Thanos defeating all the Avengers in Infinity Wars. Instead, we saw the Wasp blasting him to the quantum core in an awesome scene. However, Kang the Conqueror will survive and he's actually going to be an even stronger Kang upon his return.
I went to see Antman Quantum Mania this past week. I had a blast & enjoyed the film very much. I love the entire Antman Family, Kang made for a great villain, Modok was a lot of fun & is now my new favorite Avenger. 🤣🤣🤣 I came home to check the reviews for the film, only to find out the internet deemed the film as some sort of criminal act committed against humanity and "Will make you hate movies".🤣🤣🤣 Its just a fun superhero movie. I think Hypercriticism & Hyperbole might be the real plague here.
I honestly hate how the Marvel fan base seems to be so dead set on hating everything coming out of Phases 4 and 5 so far. Phases 4 and 5 imo are like Phases 1 and 2 of the multiverse saga. It will get really good over time. Everyone just has to be patient and understand we haven’t seen everything yet.
Did i care about the quantum civilisation? No Did i care about Scott? No Did i care about anyone making it alive or not? No Was i impressed by Kang? Not particularly. I mean he was fine, but in this movie it’s not a villain that really stands out from many others the mcu had before. I watched and thought “yeah it was entertaining” i guess, but i felt nothing leaving the theatre. I was not excited to see a future ant man movie, i was not worried for the characters at any moment or rooting for them, like i used to be with other characters. It felt like eating a burger at mcdonald’s. Decent thing to consume if you are hungry, but an experience you forget almost immediately after you leave the restaurant. I
I loved this movie. Thanks for making this video showing it some love. I might always agree with your opinions Filmspeak but I always respect how you explain them. That being said I do mostly agree with a lot of your opinions. Great video
I enjoyed the film a lot! However, I only saw maybe 2 or 3 commercials before going to go see the movie and also having MCU movie fatigue going in to see the movie, I was surprised that I got that warm fuzzy feeling and having fun while watching a MCU film something I haven’t felt in years with the MCU. I also got spy kids vibes at time of the movie.
I really enjoy this review, it goes deeper into the story and motivations than just its good/its bad/ants beat Kang. I enjoyed it, much more than L&T, and it sets up Kang as a presence. Also your background music was in my head driving after watching it
I love the deep analysis of the complex character narrative and interactions, but the problem is it that it came off really shallow and rushed in the film
The movie starts with Scott living a great life, with his daughter a bit disappointed at him for not being an activist. And the movie ends with Scott living a great life with Scott still not being an activist. I love when Cassie says: “yeah you saved the universe; but what have you done for us lately” Nothing better than seen an ungrateful spoiled brat with no real world experience lectures you around. I like the part where Scott learns nothing, faces no personal consequences to his own life, doesn’t get conflicted with any ethical choice, does not get to do any sacrifice and gets to continue living his life as if nothing happened. Also loved the constant amount of Deus ex machina, exposition and plot contrivances scattered all throughout the movie. The following sums up the dialogues: Cassie: “Stop being a dick” Modok: “It’s too late. Look at me. I am such a dick” Cassie: “It’s never too late to stop being a dick” Modok: Oh wow, you are right, i’ll join you against kang. A supervillain getting beat by ants was the best decision to make him threatening and scarier than Thanos. I mean Thanos only beat Hulk, Thor and Loki, which is lame in comparison to seeing a super villain getting defeated by bugs. The decision to reshoot the finale last month before they released the movie was also great. Who needs Scott making a heroic sacrifice when Cassie can just open a portal and prevent the sacrifice from happening. Who needs consequences, when you can make a movie feel like it was all a bad dream. 10/10 movie. Go watch it!
Your videos feel like events bro! And I love that your not afraid to speak your mind when it comes to opinions on movies. I loved your Avatar 2 video and I completely agreed cos I love that film so much, and same with Ant Man! I really enjoyed it , I just wish there was more Kang! Keep up the great work!
Honestly,, I'd heard the movie was bad and had put off seeing it, despite originally being excited,, and now having seen it,, like, what were people talking about? Maybe i just dont have taste or smth, but i really enjoyed it,, I honestly don’t see what is so atrocious about it
Thank you for this. I thought this film was one hell of a way to start the new phase. Kang was great, as was Scott as always. Cassie was the biggest surprise for me, as I saw no trailers and went in blind, was shocked at what was done with her. I felt this film set lots of things in motion, similar to Age of Ultron (which to me gets better and better the more I’ve understand how important its events are). And as a bonus, they even redeemed Darren Cross. The messages you pointed out were also lovely. I had no complaints with this film and feel it’s being hated WAY TOO MUCH. Oh well, proceed on, MCU. Again, many thanks for giving the perspective I feel we all needed to hear.
Something else I love about how we see Hank's progression is that while we see he's still recognizable as Hank Pym, we can tell he got the message from the last movie, where most of the plot was people telling him how much an arrogant dickhead he was, so he has been becoming a nicer person.
You love "bad" movies bro 😂 I RESPECT IT THO We need positivity especially when the film has been getting nothing but hate. Quantum Mania did do some good things and it should be recognized
I think the MCU might be setting up Ant Man to be what Iron Man was in the infinity saga, or at least a similar central character. I think by the end of the Multiverse saga, Scott will end up making a huge sacrifice in order to save the MCU and he will be the central character.
Honestly this movie made me realize that people have forgotten to why we watch movies in the first place, everyone is so focused on being critical that they forget to watch the actual movie
You said it man. Some people are saying "Comic Book/Superhero Movies are Dying" but I actually think that TH-cam Movie Critics are having a decline in relevance and effectiveness as I feel a lot of them aren't fun to watch anymore. I'm not saying ALL of them are not fun to watch anymore, I think FilmSpeak here is still great, so are Film Stocked, Zach Pope and Ren Geekness. but a lot of them are either nitpicking the smallest things, making criticisms that feel VERY childish to me (If they're begging for Superhero Movies to become more adult-oriented, this is not the way to go about doing it because they're coming across as being WORSE than 5 year-old). It's stuff like this why I changed my mind about reviewing movies and shows on my channel and if I do, they'll be in the form of Video Essays like FilmSpeak does. I'm actually beginning to consider UNSUBSCRIBING from some of these TH-cam Movie Critics that I don't enjoy anymore.
I'm glad you're not hopping on the bandwagon I went in to antman 3 expecting it to be bad and came out loving it It's not a perfect movie But it was fun and I enjoyed it
Well at least your able to enjoy it, idk for me this movie was trash at least in my eyes, it just feels like they released it to late, especially with all the weird add ons, the weird ending, Ant man being mad at kang.... because they had a deal...even though he just threatened his daughter to be crushed to death and make him relive that memory over and over again essentially not giving him a choice and he's suprised that he was betrayed?? Idk this movie just has a bunch of problems that it seems like were created
You have to be kidding. This guy's standard of what is a quality movie is very low. The industry will not get back to producing high quality movies again if we just encourage the absolute trash that studios are currently pushing. This movies entire premise with Scot's daughter and her absolutely disrespect to her father is so unbelievably ridiculous.
18:31 you're telling me that alien that was obsessed with having holes wasn't the most forced and cringey thing in the mcu? It was disgusting how hard they were trying and how big of a miss that was.
I loved this movie too👌🏿 I do see why people don't like it , but that doesn't take away from the fact that I went to the movies 3 times to see it and bought food every time 😂
Antman became my 2nd favorite hero after I saw his first movie. I just saw this movie and Shazam 2 the day before. Both these movies are really good. They’re not the best, not good enough to set records but they’re really good. People just don’t know what’s good and others are way too quick to listen to them without seeing for themselves. I think people are letting the failures of the DCEU dominate their way of thinking when it comes to movies and good movies are failing because of it. And sometimes a good movie can fail not because of what people think but because it wasn’t marketed correctly. Like Treasure Planet
I think people are going a bit too far by saying Ant Man and the Wasp Quantimania is the worst marvel film, Thor love and thunder is the worst, Ant Man and the Wasp Quantimania is second
We can agree to disagree. I enjoyed the first two Ant-man movies. I did not enjoy this one at all. Kang was underwhelming... He had some great scenes and was well acted but he doesn't come off as treating by the end of the movie which makes him weak. The start to phase 5 starts off disappointing. Wasp wasn't giving any character beats. She had hero saving moments but said very little. I honestly disliked the dinner scene with all the characters dissing Ant-man. Janet was mishandled in the writing and character development in my opinion. Most of the humor was miss and off. All the new side characters where Meh. I could go on and on. Going to end with this. I hated intensely what they did to Modok!
I've been enjoying the Ant Man movies and character. The quantum scenery was generally pleasant. Some of the characters were very cookie cutter. The main thing i didn't like about this movie, that seems to be a common theme in super hero movies and especially marvel ones is where people keep information from each other for no apparent reason instead of just saying things which would help everyone. You would think in a universe where life hangs in the balance at all times absolute honesty would be the primary goal of all the characters.

I love FilmSpeak because when he has controversial takes like this, I either think he has the best taste ever or the worst.

I LOVED Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania too. Glad there's more of us.
I'd rather watch this than ever watch Eternals ever again.
I think mostly critics hated this. Ant man is slowly becoming my favourite character in Marvel.
It is so good to hear somebody else say some good things about this movie! I actually really liked it as well, and can’t understand the hate it’s getting. It’s not perfect, not many of these things are, but it isn’t nearly as bad as everyone seems to think it is. Thanks for sharing!
Socialism is death.
I really liked this movie!
Despite its noticeable flaws, I REALLY liked it for what is was

A rare statement in modern entertainment conversation these days - most people seem incapable of judging a movie for what it tries to be and spend more time than it took to watch the movie/show complaining about how it's not good enough (otherwise interpreted as "exactly what I wanted").

Also kinda a funny coincidence that the trailer plays yellow brick road
@@dandywave9360 Probably not a coincidence tbh, I'm sure it was intentional lol
This movie was bad imo.
Thank you
Thank you for this. Thought I was going crazy with how much I loved this film versus other’s outsized and hyperbolic response. View it as the ultimate Ant-Man film, and now the most underrated MCU movie.
Just finally watched the film after catching up with all Phase 4 stuff, and you’re not alone in thinking about how we enjoyed it.

The only reason why people hated the film was because of the cgi, everything else was just cynically manufactured to fit on the need that people had for it to be the worst film ever

Put my thoughts into words. Everything was so much, it could have been expanded on more.

Her form of protesting is using advanced weapons on a police cruiser and having zero consequences because she's atman's daughter. This is poor execution of a good premise.

Instead, we saw the Wasp blasting him to the quantum core in an awesome scene. However, Kang the Conqueror will survive and he's actually going to be an even stronger Kang upon his return.
Speaking of Spy Kids I’d rather George Lopez be MODOK. His role in Shark Bog and Lava Girl was like a proto-MODOK
I went to see Antman Quantum Mania this past week. I had a blast & enjoyed the film very much. I love the entire Antman Family, Kang made for a great villain, Modok was a lot of fun & is now my new favorite Avenger. 🤣🤣🤣
I came home to check the reviews for the film, only to find out the internet deemed the film as some sort of criminal act committed against humanity and "Will make you hate movies".🤣🤣🤣
Its just a fun superhero movie.
No
Did i care about Scott? No
Did i care about anyone making it alive or not? No
Was i impressed by Kang?
Great video
Thank you man!
Yes my guy you are the man. Everyone like the video so it gets to more people. This movie doesn’t deserve all the hate! 7.5/10 great movie!
No not really they fucked up modok and kang wasn't a threat also they made cassie insufferable.
Everything he said was great. However, he forgot to mention the horrible writing, the bad acting, and the plot holes.
It's truly amazing how consistently wrong you are.
literally.
I really liked the third ant man movie, but you’re tripping thinking Thor Ragnorak isn’t in the top 10 of Marvel movies.
Thank you, finally someone who isn’t a hater
Only negative I have with this film is replacing the actor for Cassie, I liked the old one so much more, and I think she was a better actress
The following sums up the dialogues:
Cassie: “Stop being a dick”
Modok: “It’s too late. Look at me. I am such a dick”
Cassie: “It’s never too late to stop being a dick”
Modok: Oh wow, you are right, i’ll join you against kang.
Maybe i just dont have taste or smth, but i really enjoyed it,, I honestly don’t see what is so atrocious about it
how much they paying u bro
Dude, the visual effects I thought were great, except in only few parts the CGI was lacking, like MODOK I guess
You love "bad" movies bro 😂
I RESPECT IT THO
We need positivity especially when the film has been getting nothing but hate.
I would like that a lot. Many people look down on Ant-Man.
That wouldn't be very compelling to me. Ant-Man works better as a supporting hero in other movies
You said this is better than ragnarok? Bruh.
I gave a dislike just for that take! And him applauding Cassie🤮
Thank you for standing up for me and the one other dude who likes this movie!
I loved this movie, I really did.
I loved the movie
Im the other dude
Quantamania us not the worst MCU film. But i am worried about what your opinion on winter solder is lol. It's easily withing top 5 even top 3 for me.
Never forget that This man loved the black widow movie
And?? People like what they like. Who cares?
@@FilmSpeak damnnn filmspeak claps back 😭😭😭😭🔥
Honestly this movie made me realize that people have forgotten to why we watch movies in the first place, everyone is so focused on being critical that they forget to watch the actual movie
I'm glad you're not hopping on the bandwagon
I went in to antman 3 expecting it to be bad and came out loving it
It's not a perfect movie
But it was fun and I enjoyed it
This was a fantastic ant man story, my fav of the trilogy, idc what the review say, I enjoyed journey in the quantum realm
I agree
Kang should have killed Antman. That’s how you make a statement, protect your villain and break the mcu formula
Naah. This movie is overhated yes, but you did the opposite and over-praised it
Well at least your able to enjoy it, idk for me this movie was trash at least in my eyes, it just feels like they released it to late, especially with all the weird add ons, the weird ending, Ant man being mad at kang.... because they had a deal...even though he just threatened his daughter to be crushed to death and make him relive that memory over and over again essentially not giving him a choice and he's suprised that he was betrayed?? Idk this movie just has a bunch of problems that it seems like were created
You have to be kidding. This guy's standard of what is a quality movie is very low. The industry will not get back to producing high quality movies again if we just encourage the absolute trash that studios are currently pushing.
This movies entire premise with Scot's daughter and her absolutely disrespect to her father is so unbelievably ridiculous.
Thanks man. Not the best by far, but definitely not the worst
The overreaction to this movie is nuts. If this is the worst movie marvel has ever made then the MCU is gonna last another 10-15 years💯💯
"It's not End Game, 0/10."
-A lot of people
18:31 you're telling me that alien that was obsessed with having holes wasn't the most forced and cringey thing in the mcu? It was disgusting how hard they were trying and how big of a miss that was.
Nah fam
I loved this movie too👌🏿 I do see why people don't like it , but that doesn't take away from the fact that I went to the movies 3 times to see it and bought food every time 😂
God damn lol. I was so bored the 1st time, could not imagine watching it again.
I don't understand you people
@@bentowle3478 I bet that is just the start of a VERY long list of things you don't understand.
@@Helixium08 good for you? Want a lollipop?
@@fusiondog77 I do yes 😉
Even though I don't agree with you I respect your point of view
Ngl I liked Ant-Man 3 more than multiverse of madness. But yeah, love and thunder is the worst mcu film
Ah, FilmSpeak. The master of controlling the algorithm based on controversial thumbnails.
Quantomania is misunderstood by critics.
Agreed. I enjoyed watching the movie in theaters
My opinion is this movie wasn't good but Jonathan Majors was amazing.
