    Oscar is doing very well, very professional and quick. Lando has been significantly quicker in the races and a bit unfair to say Oscar was close in Monaco when Lando saved tyres for Q3 only to be held up by Charles and had to abort. Charles three place penalty helped Alpine and not Mclaren. Such is life. If he hadnt have been held up Lando would have been faster as the track was getting quicker. I like Daniel a lot, but his fanbase were unbearable when the news came out that he'd be dropped. Oscar of course took the full brunt of that especially on social media.
    The fact that he's been able to brush his critics to one side and perform the way he has just doubles-down on the fact that he has exactly what it takes to succeed in F1.
    Hopefully with the changes McLaren are making within their staffing structure and their recent appointments, that will convert to a more competitive car as Lando and Oscar deserve a much better machine than what they've got right now.

    • @FishEyess
      @FishEyess ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "his fanbase were unbearable" I think you're just seeing the wrong side of it. Most of the comments i have seen regarding Daniel leaving was actually quite positive & supporting of Oscar. Most of F1's fanbase is unbearable as the majority of the newer fans are drama farming and if their favourite driver isn't winning, then nobody can be happy. The real people that were the issue are the Daniel or Oscar haters, and alot of people regardless of if Daniel was their favourite driver, felt the need to jump to his defence. This also goes with Max haters, and Lewis haters. Anyone that actively hates on other drivers are the problem in the sport, i am a big Daniel fan but i am completely happy that another Aussie is now in the sport & I wish him all the best as he was clearly the right choice.
      It's a shame to see that his "fanbase" now has a bad representation for the minority of the comments that have been seen by others, whereas here down under i have seen nothing but love for both drivers.

    In Monaco, Lando's been 2 tenths up before Leclerc hampered him, and mighty fast in free practice sessions. I think the 0.018 s doesn't quite tell the full story and Piastri still has a way to go to get to Norris's level. Then again, you could argue Lando didn't get to Q3 because of hitting the wall and damaging the suspension, so fair enough, but the speed gap is still there. I got the impression that DR wasn't quite backed or given the support he needed after a short while at Mclaren initially. Zak Brown seemed to just not fancy him. That said his win at Italy is above what Lando has been able to give McLaren. He wasn't able to get to grips with the car consistently, looked burnout and indifferent after a while and was coasting. He needed this break away and I'm sure DR will return stronger. Piastri has quietly made a good start and thankfully he's not getting too much attention. I think sometimes the worst thing is getting too much attention and spotlight on the young drivers.

    I’ll say it every time this topic comes up: Daniel was the most overrated driver of the past 5 years. After leaving Redbull, he only started to show *some* of his previous performance levels during his 2nd year at Renault… and one race at Monza where Max and Lewis were out and Lando was told not to attack him.
    I can’t think of another driver who rode the fumes of his past success for as long as DR has. The fact some people think he could outperform Checo at RB now reflects that. Piastri coming in and being far closer to Lando as a rookie proves to me that DR was never as good as he was in the early turbo hybrid era at RB.

    Alpine gotta be the biggest clowns in all of this. They lost one of the best drivers of all time who still has it in him as shown at Aston Martin. And they lost one of the biggest talents after paying for his juniors who never drove for them. Just because they decided to be a-holes to both of them. But at least they have a full mediocre french pairing now.
    What I personally find the most impressive about Piastri is - aside from him handling the pressure - that he isn't binning it like other Rookies (Mick coughcough). Which to me says that he isn't going 100% full send, yet.

That would be the only change, either way Ric dropped as it has.

      That was the only race when Ric somehow put a top performance. And don't forget that the team asked Lando to not fight with Ric for the 1st place. It would be Lando's first grand prix win and he accepted the team's wish. Thats was a very humble decision from him.

    • @maxy8007
      @maxy8007 ปีที่แล้ว

      @takatszsolt9740 that response is from an uneducated tabloid point of view. The telemetry and full team radio radio dialogue suggests a different tale. An experienced race winner manages his pace when in front to mitigate risk what is exactly what ric was doing. Lando asked to race but was denied to avoid incident. By asking to race does not mean he is going to beat him as you imply. You also see Dan put in the fastest lap of the race on the last lap which clearly demonstrates he could do more if required. Lando had his chance at race victory later that year and fluffed it under pressure. His team radio was all nerves. Look what happened today in Barcelona he buckled under pressure in third place and crashed. Certainly not a race winner yet and better get a move on before Piastri nails him. Anyway my argument is that McLaren are duds. The above are all facts.

    Ricciardo completely forgot how to drive a car in his McLaren years, which perhaps made Norris look better than he was. So far, Norris is still quite a bit better than Piastri. In Miami he finished quite far ahead and in Monaco he had to pass him as well after a needless stop for slicks just before the rain fell. In the wet conditions Norris was flying, though, and Piastri wasn't much slower, which certainly impressed me.
