That is really sage advise for the shrewd & prudent shopper! Thanks Bud & Guru! Together, with camera wife, ya'll are Great! Peace! Paul from S. Central Tx.
I loved this video! Over the years, I've seen a lot of the units you showed. We're a Gardner Denver distributer, so when you showed that old recip - I had to look it up. Yup - we can still get parts! We're also a Champion dist, there are tons of those Dayton/Speedair compressors out there. I usually grab those since there are still parts available. Thanks again for the great content
Great informative video , thank you . I bought an old compressor off Facebook that had a Quincy 210 pump that looked almost new but a really old tank . I did not use the tank as it had no data plate but looks super old . I paid 45.00 for it , which I thought was a super great buy ! ROC is 103 .
I've got several of those. One is on a Binks tank, and I use it. I have to restore another Binks/Quincy 210, and I bought a new old stock 210 for cheap. They are cool.
What would you recommend to the DIY homeowner for a NEW small air compressor? This is for light duty home use....filling tires, blowing off the lawn mower, etc. (no air tools).
I don't like the big box stores... but for your needs a lower kobalt pancake compressor. I am going to Lowe's shortly to get a water filter. I may follow up with this I will take a look.
Almost all the small compressors I've looked at are made in China, which I try to avoid for several reasons. I like the California Air Tools 4710SQ because of the size, form factor and it's quiet. I was just wondering...if my only choice is to buy made in China...if you think any brands are better quality/reputation.
if you go with the California air 1 let me know how it works and where its made. I was just a lowes and they had 6, 6 gal pancake compressors under $200. for your needs I am guessing that any of those would work. those are usually bought by roofing contractors they use them for a couple seasons and throw them out and get a new 1.
OK, thanks for your input. The 4710SQ is made in China. The size/shape is perfect for a specific location in my small garage, where a pancake model is too deep. It should be fine for my light-duty use. I know there are better made in USA compressors out there, but they are higher-end overkill for my needs.
Thanks Bud 👍🏻

I bought a small englo an pulled the pump an placed it on a cheaper big box store model tank .It's still running strong.

Pretty sure the engine drive unit on the trailer missing the engine is a Jaeger 105
I think you are right. I bet its been 30 years since I worked on a Jeager.
