- After the second exhaust port crack in ported OEM LS3 heads, I figured it was time to get a nice aftermarket set of heads with a thicker casting. This is a review of the issues with the old head and comparison to the new heads as well as CC'ing the heads and working out the math for static and dynamic compression ratio.
The water entering the chamber was probably enough to cool combustion and keep the plug tip below self cleaning temp, but not enough to see the textbook completely “steam cleaned” chamber that’s used as a head gasket failure example. Don’t be shy with timing, peak torque will probably need more than 20-deg.

My daily driver LS3 uses only premium pump fuel, 11.9 scr, 8.9 dcr, .041 quench. Milled but otherwise oem ls3 heads. About 20-21* advance gives the best acceleration. I was concerned more scr would limit advance with premium fuel. The new btr cam I want would raise my dcr to about 9.1 which I'm nervous about. I went with st2126lsr lifters and pushrod measurement was a pitmfa.
I think your new heads will gain 25-30rwhp over prior tuned combo. Maybe +15rwhp above 6K with XS LS3 intake. Looking forward to seeing your results!
I appreciate the input! Yeah have heard those short travel lifters are very tough to measure pre-load. If it was easy though...everyone would do it!

I hate to throw names out there in a negative light, but for the sake of transparency in my channel I will. Debating going with the same heads for LSA.
I would give them a call to discuss your setup, they offer the M311's in a "Boost Monster" version...not sure of the differences...but they may be better for you.
